Glad I went for a reprocess on this data as there were quite a bit of tweaks that could be made. First of all, thanks to @steep jasper for providing properly exposed trap data for this as I did not grab any short subs of the trap while imaging. Really brought this image together.

Flat as in, it could use more sat? Cause it's 1 bump away from clipped colors, I pushed it to its limits 
.
Also I didn't add more contrast because I still want to preserve the darker regions as well as bright areas.
In that respect it was also pretty close to its limits for me to feel good about pushing it more.

Fair, HDR plus pushing sat does make colors almost clipped which contributes to the flat look. But for me it's the most eyeball pleasing lol.

It also kinda brings out the dust details a little, but there are better ways to bring out those details I'm sure

It's more so the method of HDR, there's perhaps more natural looking methods. I used a script from a guy on r/AP, really intuitive plugin and UI for pix.
Manually masking could perhaps create a more dynamic compression of the dynamic range, but takes much longer.
