im gonna have a go lol
Enjoy brotha, decent data.
i can already see lol cant wait
best i could get - i need to learn to do galaxies better haha
This is a tough galaxy to process. I hope it's not too terrible! ๐
how did you get the colour out soo much? i cant work out how to do that like yours in pixlnsight
i used curves to saturate it heavy twice to get some recognizable colors in it. from there i undid the 2nd curves, and then gradual r, g, b, and L adjustments in curves to get the core where i wanted. from there i used a range mask to adjust everything else. the outer halo is so tough for me to get right.
my buddy shot this the other week with his EdgeHD 8 and asi294mm in HaRGB. here's my process of that data:
without a doubt my favorite personal achievement on this galaxy lmao
i can process nebula ok but galaxies im struggling to extract the color so any advise is greatly appreciated lol
im yet to dive into learning masking haha
some people process them to be more blue, i often lean towards slightly purple
it's a personal choice/taste i suppose
as you can see on my pic i cant even get blue haha
that one was more purple than i'd like, but i couldn't get the Ha in properly w/o making everything blue turn purple lol
still looks really nce - do you extract the RGB channels?
so more just getting the RGB right in curves?
any help is good help lmao
started here
well, i didn't hit that square yet but you get the idea lol
heavy saturation in curves
then adjust the r/g/b separately in curves until you get your desired result
this will really distort the background as you can see it becomes very blue, that's something else to deal with ๐
after that would you then "lock" the core and start adjusting the outer of the galaxy? is this the masking bit?
ive still got tons to learn haha
yeah i'll show you some range mask cheap tricks
haha no worries
this is dragging the mask over to the image
and then adjusting the background saturation down, or whatever you want
i think i need you on vc 1 night hahaha
oh my ๐ฎ
at this step, I click the red preview circle back and forth to see how much the mask is covering. (this is with smoothness turned down to zero). when i find the right amount to cover, i crank smoothness up.
its a shame i got work in a hour lol i need to try this out lol
i've been late a couple of times this year already from trying to get data stacking in WBPP before going to work ๐
my boss just shakes his head and says, i know on clear nights you'll never be here on time in the morning.
hahaha wish my boss was like that, i work nights as it is but they wont let me set up my scope at work lmao
sometimes i'm on the road and sleeping at hotels every night. i had thought about taking my small widefield rig along, but then quickly remembered I don't want to be up all night in strange places watching my gear.
yeah i feel like that where i live hence i record from my bedroom window (open of course lol)
when i started, i'd aim my refractor out of my kitchen window to image Jupiter
This is nuts
his stars are wacky because, as many learned the hard way, the heater band he had on his EdgeHD was causing flares around the stars.
Still a gorgeous shot. I may add another 4 or 5 hours this Sunday.
what gear are you using?
750mm f5 Newtonian with an 585mc
i figured the camera, that resolution stands out pretty good
nice newt. what CC are you using?
None
lol
i have a 6" f/4 GSO newt with a quattro CC, works great. the baader MPCC i had, not so much. ๐ข
i kept that around in case i ever got a slower newt to try it out on lol. at f/4 it's not functional at all.
I almost bought the GSO but ended up buying this f5 Meade for 100$
sweet deal!
i want to do more OSC imaging through mine, but need a OSC camera ๐ i sold my old 183mc pro. wanting an imx571 camera now.
my mono camera and filter wheel is really heavy on the newt's focuser, and causes me to have some tilt issues. i don't want to put more $$$ on the OTA tbh, so i just stopped using it for the time being.
yeah filter wheels on a newt are
@gritty ermine heres my attempt, think i pushed abit hard to get colours and spirals out abit more, yeah id recommend getting a UV/IR cut, doesnt need a filter wheel or anything for it, but itll improve colours on stars and targets soooo much
the 585 has so much IR response the pixels start to act monochrome deeper in the IR range
the colours a quite deeply hidden
lol me too.... I gotta try one more time the HDR messed my stars up I may go less on the colors just to preserve the integrity of the data.
do the hdr stuff after removing stars ๐
Think this is slightly clipped
in the bg
bg for sure
i seperated the stars and well... yup lol, tried fixing the glow around the stars and clipped it.
Lol fair, yeah just do HDR stuff without stars like Rob said, itll fix that
yeah I honestly am suprised I never thought about that lmfaoooo
XD sometimes the simplest things get forgotten about as we like to overcomplicate it for ourselves
Overthinking it too much lol.
Lol happens
