when I try to do star recomposition in Siril it won't let me open a file for the background stretch parameter to combine both images. Simply put when I click the background stretch parameter to add a file nothing happens.

that may happen if you are using files of different file endings or bitdepths, or if you have cropped one of them differently (even by a pixel different)
