Finally got to try out the Nikon Z50 for astrophotography. 10/10 so much better than the Canon EOS 600D that I was using before. I am very pleased with it considering it is just a first try.

I'm shooting from B4 (but orion is under B6 skies) with the following equipment:

  • Skywatcher 72ED
  • Nikon Z50
  • CG-4 with onstep
  • ASI120mm mini with TS optics 32mm guidescope
  • Some DIY bits and bops

I'm personally used to having very noisy data, so switching to the Z50 has helped a lot with that. In terms of details I think I've reach the limit of my scope and guiding ability. Mount is suboptimal which shows in guiding graphs (+- 3" RMS). But I'm very happy with what I've got out of it.
