#Anyone ever had to repair their astrocamera?

I had a fan fail on an Altair 26C - it stopped spinning and had burnt out. Not sure if this is your problem, but actually the repair wasn't too difficult. I replaced the fan with a low vibration equivalent and used solderless push button telecomms connectors to connect the wires (it came with a different connector). The fan is hooked to the heatsink by springs, so all you need is a hex key to take the camera back off (the front is a separate, sealed unit, which is good) and tweezers. Pretty sure the design will be identical on your rising cam. Repair time around 15mins

I wish it was just a fan. I had to send it off to China to get it fixed. They told me that three three chips blew on the camera's circuit board. They're not sure how it happened, but suggested that maybe it was caused by some kind of surge from the power supply.

Unfortunately, it's still there because of delays caused by the lunar new year and haven't told me how much the final repair bill will be, but estimated it at anywhere from $50 to $150. It cost me an additional $170 to ship it there, but at least they agreed to pay for the return shipping. It's not ideal, but it's still cheaper than a new camera. I'm going to double-check my power supply setup to see if there are ways to make sure this doesn't happen again.
