Is a Uranus C welcome here too?
🤔. Can't see why not.. Same sensor. Not sure how this Discord works though.
Wooo
Yep
I mean asi 585 mc and Uranus C use imx 585 like Karl said
This js a dumb question, but how do I make sure my uranus c is turned off
What do you mean?
don't worry, someone told me its not on unless its plugged in so I think im okay :)
For context, I was worried about electrical fires from the Uranus C being switched on too long, and was wondering how to turn it off fully so there is no flowing current
...
The power source is your computer... If its off or the cable is not plugged in how can it be on
Pic with my Uranus C
Exactly
Yet my brain says otherwise lol
Thats pretty good
5th October 2023, M33 for the first time using the 585!.
Quite happy with the sensor temperature as it started off at 11 degrees and finnished at 6 degrees (when packing up).
Question : if I take darks, do I take them at 6 or 11 degrees, or don't it matter?
This is the result :
27x180 from a previous session
&
40x300 (Saturday night)
No DBF as it was a night of testing.
Both nights dithered.
✅ Dss reports 4h & 5m.
✅ Pixinsight
✅ Lr
✅ Az-gti
✅ 72ed
✅ Zwo 585mc at gain 252
✅ Phd2
✅ Svbony ir/uv cut
UPDATE
As this is an image from October 2023 since then I have tested the 585mc with using light's and darks and then lights and flats.
I'll make a separate post for this result.
I don't think the temperature on the darks matters but i'm no expert in that topic so i can't tell you exactly
Also nice image
Is that cropped?
Anyone know why I couldn't see Jupiter with my uranus c?
Set up like this (ignore the numbers)
It was connected to my laptop via the USB cable, and I was using firecapture
What do you mean by that?
Like what did it show
Nothing? Just black screen or what
Are you sure it was in your FOV?
Try setting Gain higher
What were your settings?
Pretty sure, I searched absolutely everywhere around where it could be. I used a gain of 250 and a gamma of 63
What exposure time?
Thank you & no not cropped. Next time I gather data to add to this image. No, no crop. Darks are temperature dependent but I was unsure if 5 celcius makes a difference. : screen shot is as it would appear with my 72ed 😊
I tried all different exposures, from 10 ms to 100.0
What f is your scope?
*f ratio
?
Not sure, it's a 1500mm mak (FL) and 127mm diameter
But I had a 3x barlow in
F 11.8
Could you see stars?
Not sure as there was lots of clouds, I was just trying to check if the camera could focus or if I need a spacer
I would try to find Jupiter inbetween the clouds
Oh wait, this triples your f ratio. That might be overkill (f/35)
Yiiiiiiiikes
I've observed with the barlow and a 25mm lens before quite comfortably, and even done astrophotography on it
So I'm not sure if it's that
Do you think I should decrease my f ratio?
Yes, try that
Hi, sorry to stepping in.. Yes f35 is very dark, even with general photography let alone astro.
Not sure of your location it as it stands now the moon in out on MY morning.. So I'd attach camera and try the moon. If you don't have the moon then jupiter will be the next best thing.
Remove the Barlow and try and gain focus. I don't believe that you need any spacer / extention tubes.
I don't know firecapture that well but I do know Sharpcap.. Try your gain at 550 and shutter/exposure of 3.5
Better still if you can Platesolve then you would know for sure that you have ANY object in your fov.
I'm slightly confused as I've used my scope at f35 to image (with my phone) before and the results were fine. Do you know why it could cause a problem now?
I also don't know how to platesolve
What were you imaging with your phone? I'm guessing your phone was set to auto, so the iso would be very high. What did you see when using the uranus c?
I was using an iso of 64-100 on Jupiter and a shutter speed of 1/30 and 1/60. With the Uranus c, all I got was a grainy live feed
Have you used this camera before? Tested in the day?
Then try exposure times over 1 sec with much higher gain. Maybe you‘ll see it then
I tested in a room with one side dark and one side light, when I pointed the camera at different areas of the room it clearly picked up the different light levels
I'll try that, thank you
Testing right now, I can see the trees in my live feed very very clearly, only small problem is that there seems to be little squares. Is this normal?
It also seems to be in monochrome, but the camera is a colour camera, Is there a setting i need to do for colour?
Yes
Send a pic of your firecapture stettings
Yeah, click on that red button and select rgb
which red button, i can see 5
The one right from „Jupiter captures“
Ah, thank you :)
this whole camera is completely alien to me (no pun intended)
Ah btw, you are using the ROI, so you are not using the whole resolution. Click on the max button on the top to use whole res
Don‘t know if you intended it to be like that
I did not 😆
Thank you
that probably would of made it easier to find jupiter last night
This is the raw file grid, you can see it when there is no debraying done on the image
So they go away once processed, or do I need to turn debayering off?
When you stack the image and select to debray it it will have color
Just select auto detect
Also everytime you will capture Jupiter or any other planet turn on ROI to save space and get higher fps
Click on the live view and drag your mouse until a red square will appear saying something like "200x200"
yep, once i find jupiter i'll ROI it and then record that only, thank you. I'll have to read about Debayering as im not fully sure what it is or where that screenshot comes from. Is that on Pipp or AS?
AS
Yes the squares are dew to the debayer pattern. You need to use the raw16 OR raw8 format.
i'll have a look, thank you
Np
Where would i find this on fc?
As @hushed saddle said above.
I've never used .ser, only avi, how different are they to process?
Really no difference from what i see
It's just that you have to install a ser player if you want to for some reason view the recorded file
Well thats comforting to hear, i've seen .ser once or twice and it was a word document so i was beyond confused at how to process that XD
i'll give it a shot soon
thank you
A. Ser file is many many files INTO one file. Be aware they can get very very big quickly.
Yep just like avi
Ah okay thank you :)
just had time inbetween 2 massive clouds to get a few shots
probably out of focus but hey
the camera works
and i can confirm, f/35 is farrrrr too zoomed in.
Videos were still monochrome, but i did shoot in rgb
@frigid violet What make and model is your scope?
1500mm.. Adding the 3x Barlow would make it a 4500mm.. With a full frame sensor that's hard.. But using the 585mc it's impossible, especially without Platesolve and tracking being spot on.
It's a skywatcher 127mm Maksutov
i selected Auto detect but it is still in grey?
But its still grey with the squares in registax
i am reaally confused
@eternal glade do you know what is going on here?
^
Then select a different pattern
alright thank you
i've tried all of them, all came out grey
Maybe try without putting it in pip?
I'll have to try tomorrow evening as I've got school now :/
I've never likes registax so can't comment. Try pipp THEN Autostakkert.
I put it into pipp first, then Autostakkert anyway
It just looks like something in registax is the issue.
Why do you think that?
Registax occasionally showed colour when I sharpened it, but other than that Pipp ans AS were both completely monochrome
I've just tried no pipp and that seems to have brought a colour image out on AS after stacking. So maybe something on Pipp is wrong 🤔
- with the dummy cam
First proper light with the Uranus C, I'd say it went very well
Compression is crazy on those
Nice!
wow
theyre much more vibrant on my phone and laptop than when i sent them on here :///
Just wondering… did they ever fix the issues with HDR?
oh lol i completely forgot about this
