i did
this is max budget, im at the limit. I saw people say buy some stuff from AliExpress like the dovetail, should i do that with the lens ring also?
Get the SWSA GTi instead of the AZGTi
you will thank me later
and dont buy stuff from amazon
for a reason..
past budget can't, i made the az gti mount eq mode which should fix most problems with the tracking from my research. also, i walk a little to go to a park so i want to it as light as possible az is 2 pounds while the gti is 5.
and why not from amazon, i wanted to buy from one place to keep up with it easier
cuz its shit and bad policies or good control, please buy from a respected dealer on astro equipment or photo store
5lbs is nothing and the GTi is far superior than any modifications you can do to the AZGTi
ok i will look at other stores.
i just can't pass my budget unfortunately, i will just have to deal with the mount being a little worse. Ive seen some amazing images in here with the az gti so if it holds good enough its fine.
i got my star adventurer for 250$ used
something to consider if ur on a budget
if the asiair can somehow make the 2i goto then ill 100% get it, but if it cant i just wont. I can 100% make my setup way cheaper if i get the mount used its just i dont see anyone selling it right now.
why rush to get the setup?
personally, id wait for a star adventurer to be for sale and buy one
also u can prob get a asiair used for cheaper
i got my asiair pro for 130
i can wait, but im seeing the asiair mini go for $170, and the asiair pro is outdated, has no range, and i just see noone selling it. I can do more looking
you should wait and find a star adventurer
will save you plenty of problems
ill do more looking with the star adventure 2i and asiair setup and see what people think, thank you
by any chance do you have the asiair and star adventurer setup, if so how do you find objects?
i sold my star adventurer, but you can plate solve with the asiair and moves the ra and dec axis on the star adventurer bit by bit until ur on your target
ok, i just looked more and i can get the az gti used and then add auto guiding with a scope and cam to improve its tracking so i have no issue. I hear what you're saying, but i dont want to spend 10-20 minutes trying to find the object when i can do it automatically in less than a minute.
you do you
am i missing anything? https://docs.google.com/document/d/12j5H4hpdpXjPG2IvDgF_CM1EIzaRfq71e4lhtnJxWv4/edit?usp=sharing
not the cleanest looking doc sorry
@merry creek sorry for @ting you so much, mind looking at this. I know you dont have the same setup, but can you make sure everything is there to work the setup before i buy anything
dew heaters? guiding? also the 178mc has a pretty small sensor as it’s a planetary cam. also some of the things in the list could be bought used such as the roki135, asiair, the lens holder, swsa (if u can find one?)
but looks good
i have a dew heater and im going to do guiding later on, asiair will still work without it i just wont have dithering. The 178 should be fine without it, hoping the walking noise wont be that bad. I will look for used also and if i get them used at a good price i could get a guiding cam and scope.
Not sure if the 178mc is a good idea. More like a planetary camera
Small noisy sensor. QE isn’t even specified
You could get a better camera insetad of buying the asi air
I really dont think it will be that bad, Ive seen a couple images on astrobin and in here using it. I will not drop the asiair mini as i will 100% be needed that. The things that i put are new like the asiair and the mount so if i get it used maybe i can get a camera thats better
im looking at the ASI678MC, looks like its a upgraded version of the 178mc i might go with it
Why do you really need the asi air?
plate solving, polar aligning is 100x easier, if i get a guider i can dither and guide on the app, and because i want to do ap with a mobile setup.
Looks noisy from the images i’ve seen
I mean sure. You can do all of that with a laptop tho
look at #deep_space_pics message

im not going to be doing ap with a laptop. Getting a mini pc is basically the same price anyways better to have it on phone for me
Looks good yeah
Fair, but if you or someone in your family has a laptop hanging around, you don’t have to pay anything
The images i saw on astrobin were way noisier. Most likely the condition as to how and where those were taken
The thing is i would probably use a laptop for a at home setup, but i walk like 1/3 to 1/2 a mile to go to a park because i have trees and its just easier on me to walk with a phone instead of laptop
especially in the cold Wheater so i dont break anything
Laptops are thin and light. You’re already going to bring a backpack anyway
I think it’s easier to drop and break your phone too
i can do more looking for other cameras in the price range, but i may just stick with the 178mc
Check its fov first
Also, can you even use the 2i with the asi air? I didn’t know that
to add nina is kinda a learning curve, i wanna be as lazy as possible
yes you can
As easy as downloading the asi air app
i was thinking of getting rasberry pi and stellarmate if you know what that is, but i saw people say asiair is better
ASI Air is a lot easier to set up afaik
what about i get a modded t3i, would that be better?
i already have the dslr
I don’t own one so I can’t really give you a concrete answer, but I’ve used a stock t3i for photography and it is a very easy to use camera
Since you already own it, you’re going to save some money too. I’d give it a try
