Untracked dust around Polaris
Meteor shower gazing trip, light imaging.

~358x14s - 83mins
Bortle 4/5. Nautical dark
2600mc pro -10c, UV/IR cut
Samyang 135mm @ f/2.8

Processed with Pixinsight and some GHS in Siril

Polar aligned my camera and lens with a ballhead and turned the lens in its collar every 60subs (15mins).
Aimed for 4degrees each time but i messed it up. Tryed to scalvage it at the end with the last 120 subs but had to crop alot anyway Sadge

Actually have no mount at the moment, it is taking it's sweet time entering europe.

@indigo yarrow 10 - 12km from my place to a island's southern tip. City's light dome is big but mostly covered by trees.

#

and the horizon towards south has no LP and gradually goes to b1

#

no gradients what so ever gladge

Hey @hazy ore ; do I need to have a uv/ir cut on my camera to capture the dust? It’s essentiallly a reflection nebula, right? So I wouldn’t need to?

hazy ore
#

just uv/ir cut for a astro camera

#

for a dslr, it can be stock.

#

IF its modified, you need to make sure it has also uv/ir cut

#

dark skies mandatory. Bortle4 and darker

#

The nebula photos long video is pretty good honestly. For gear i say the fast lens is more important the people might realise

I’m curious as to why the answer is different for the two cameras; is it just because for the Astro camera, if you bought the camera you already want the best quality you can get?

stock dslr's have the filters preinstalled

#

modified dslr's require a removal of a filter over the sensor, depends how its done -> might need a uv/ir cut filter

#

need to capture the whole visible spectrum, not UV or IR
