Pretty sure The3D takes flats with his 12" RC, wouldnt make alot of sense if a scope couldnt take flats lol

Rip

#

Don't they have light shrouds for truss tubes?

I mean the blue and the red. i do not get it?

#

@fervent tinsel nice data

#

but flats

#

Lovely data, SiriL decon and PS sharpen worked nicely.

#

Dammit, the blacks have a green tint

#

I kinda like the top one, but the bottom is more balanced imo

but agree that the 294mc is pretty picky on flats

#

yeah a good shroud you need it for that tube

fervent tinsel
neon oriole
#

what procedure do you use for synthetic flats?

#

i usually integrate all the lights using a very broad rejection method and then MMT to eliminate large scale structures left, what's still there i remove with clonestamp

fervent tinsel
#

0 flats on this one

#

only defects in the background are bright star residue

#

aslo @neon oriole how do you like your CEM120. Moving from an EQ8R to that soon.

neon oriole
#

my cem120 is a beast, make sure to balance it properly (also 3d balance)

#

use the internal cable management as much as you can

#

i have no experience with the EQ8R but my 120 guides at 0.3 RMS with the 12" truss plus a 100mm refractor on top

#

not really, just make sure that it stands still in every position you put it in

#

slight drifts are acceptable

#

ah @fervent tinsel you have a GSO truss right?

#

cause there is a design defect in these models, you need an extension for the baffle tube otherwise you will always have light leaks

#

not sure if you are aware just throwing it out there

my 120 tonight, seeing isnt even that great

second try at a galaxy

neon oriole
#

suggestion: process the stars and the galaxy separately

#

you can use the screenstars script by bill blanshan to separate them, process and then bring back into a single image
