#Lagoon Nebula Narrowband data

Here's my really quick process. Also foraxx
very nice
nicely done Rob! core is really bright
I'm not quite happy with that aqua color though. Still fiddling with it, as usual ๐
hmmm
feel like my processing the core was way too bright, and a lot of dark structure is not visible, hard to find a balance between overstretching and not stretching enough
these bright nebula. this one, orion, the omega nebula (M17). they give me fits
I am going for the Trifid tonight
But I also captured some Sii signal last night for m16, which I will upload soon
I think I'm going to stop here. My eyes are bleeding from tweaking colors over and over ๐
Lol
This is one of my favorite Hubble images, the core of the Lagoon ๐ This is right in there at that bright spot, where there seems to be a bit of an arch.
Way too many things you can do with curves transformatio
Here's your data on that area ๐
i have seen a couple really close ones
Same
(i mean, closer than you might expect)
looking for them now
1 meter telescope ๐
$622,000 1meter RC scope, to be exact
I bet if you give hubble the camera that this guy is using, hubble probably would produce more insane image
I wonder whats the biggest telescope I willl ever buy
maybe a cdk24
but that is probably not gonna work on my balcony or backyard
I probably won't go higher than an 8" unless I move. I rarely get good seeing, let alone above average.
I would suggest the quattro coma corrector or a paracor
the baader mpcc mark III and gso/apertura brands did not work properly on my 6" f/4 newt
What newt would you recommend if I am looking for a 8 inch f4, I heard some brand has collimation issue and focuser issue, there are just so many options, dont know which one to get
Quattro, orion, explore scientific, apertuna.........
collimation is harder the faster the newt gets. i have a GSO newt.
i saw cuiv the lazy geek with a sky-watcher quattro 6" f/4 and it has more light leaks than my GSO one. the apertura/gso are rebrands, possibly the others as well
slight differences i guess. the GSO has a focuser that is ZWO EAF compatible now. i dunno about the others tbh.
the sky-watcher quattro 200p seems quite popular. might be a good one to look more into
I am thinking wouldnt the 200p have the same issue as the 6 inch f/4?
Cause they are the same scope just bigger aperture?
the skywatcher 6" f/4 has a better secondary mirror holder than my gso 6" f/4
but it also has more light leaks around the focuser. tbh, i'd rather have the better mirror assembly.
instead of the piece behind the mirror being a solid cylinder, it has three shafts that make contact with the adjustment screws. this might be to help rotationally align the mirror, but it makes it fickle as well.
would the quattro 200p have the same problem, I always wonder why quattro 6 inch came with the coma corrector at a price of 800 dollars, while the 200p is 1100 dollars without the corrector
maybe it really is better bullt
that CC with the 6" quattro isn't the same quattro CC that is sold separately from what i can tell. that thing is $400 by itself
the one i have doesn't change the native focal length. i think the one that comes with the 6" quattro does.
Here's Cuiv's secondary (with an acessory) and you can see it's a flat surface where the screws make contact, allowing for easier rotation of the mirror.
hmmmm, I will have to do more research, but a big and fast newt is very tempting
it really is. ๐ i'm selling my 4.5" refractor now that i have my 6" newt working. the newt is 600mm focal length f/4 and the frac is 800mm at f/7. no sense keeping both!
what refractor is it
astro-tech 115 EDT triplet
they're on sale now for $1299 so i'm waiting for the sale to end before listing mine lol. i have a field flattener i'm selling with it.
nice, are you in US?
yeah
east or west
east, mid-atlantic region
well I am in Toronto, can say we are pretty close
the weather up here in the north are pretty bad in the winter, seeing is not either
you're slightly northWEST of me ๐ and a 7hr drive lol.
we have the same cloud problem with the jet stream though
lol, I was just in California last week, great weather there
yeah, southwestern US has superb skies
especially in Arizona. i was actually looking for potential career opportunities there just to move ๐
yeah, I was driving up to vegas, the seeing condition in the dessert is crazy
I kinda want to go to texas, great sky there too
Vouch, southern Utah is incredible as well. So dry clouds just can't exist lol.
Second time working with mono data. The top right looks very messed up but I don't know why. Thanks for the amazing data!
Did a background extraction to even out the background
