#Cursed setups

Tune in some curse
Non-charging Lenovo Thinkpad... for when you only want to do 1, maybe 2 hours of imaging in a night
1-2 hours can be fine; it's the bucket that really takes it.
Nah for me it's that the computer is running XP that sent me. 💀
I found someones roll there own MS version once, Kinda wish I didn't wipe the drive :/
Forgot that. Okay, XP takes it, then the bucket. XP for the high security risk from lack of updates.
didn't expect to enter literally cursed rigs
Lmao
I wanna say a 5-letter word that perfectly describes it, but I won't
btw here's Memeboi's rig, my rig, and my visual setup 💀
It works but takes practice
yesss real
This is: The Vee
Big L
If I get a bit of sun Imma test that
It's in AZ mode again
so no real PA needed anymore
boom
grab grab set set and shoot shoot
@harsh veldt hey I am purvanshu you remember me?
rejoined
What happened
i got kicked for saying "pir***"
What happened for it to become forbidden pls
no
Ok
i have a 114 new without a mount and i used it as if it were a bazooka (arm mounted)
same
Not a cursed setup but this is what happens when you don’t have a heater for your rig
Good luck dude. That is NASTY.
I'm not sure what the issue is ... frost on outside no issue?
Lmao
Frozen newt gang
its also on the lense
I agree, that would need an issue
what why
Dip it in paint (pls don't)
So cold I live near equator so its ok for me
real
Check your latest DM
Discord has a bug where it sends images you tried to send in a server to the last person you DM'd
Invisible scope.
insane
But, since it's invisible, it's already perfectly collimated.
It just looks like a silly goose
How does it work
It's like goto though when you attach your phone in the phone adaptor and use stellarium
It's not a stupid idea if it works!
i have a terrible feeling about this
did you manage to connect your phone to an ascom driver?
Just use webcam-phone camera app
Yeah, just search "PHD2 iphone emulator app"
really
how did i not think of that
Yes, that's exactly what this channel is for - serious advice
Yep, But I would. The software I use to transmit the cell phone camera as a webcam supports at least 15 fps. So it's a very low exposure time per frame.
I only use this app to collimate the telescope with my cell phone
i think you should get a better mount because i dont think that mount can lift that massive scope, i would recommend micron 10 or something better
Don’t have a counter weight light enough so had to improvise…
Surely this isn't cursed
The mount
Yes
Happy with the mount? I was not so - had real trouble with the software. For example with sharpcap...
I have trouble with backlash. I have to tune it once every month atleast and dismantle and service in 2-3 months. It guides well when tuned properly. I haven't used it with Sharpcap (goto) just PA. Have not faced any software issues in NINA. Just the wifi was alot of trouble so i switched to serial.
So, not happy 😔
I am using a diy dew heater mounted on the RA axis housing to heat up and further improve guiding. It has helped my when i was using a generic grease that was super thick. I just serviced it with superlube. Much better now
I mean it works
Compared to other stuff, your setup is probably the least cursed I've seen in this thread
True
That's an interesting approach lol
Well yes it had trouble with NINA at the very start but after some updates on NINA's side it now is ok.
Sharpcap though is another thing. It has to do with . and , being used for decimals. SO Sharpcap needs , (if I remember correctly) but ASCOM values of mount are separated with . and then it goes brrrrr
It also works ok with asiair if I reprogram the EQ Mod cable.
All in all I think the mount is ok-ish but as I was having so many troubles on the software side (also wonky wifi as you said) I just bought an EQ6R afterwards - and now the exos is kinda gathering dust :/
Shouldve seen my 8HD on my 4se mount
You could say that the Heritage series is exactly that.
Yeah sorry I meant with an eq mount
Well - I got a heritage. It could go on an eq - but the focuser is practically shite. And then you still left with the flextube's opening which will cause light leakage - ofc you could shroud it though.
Yeah, it would be pretty cursed
Speed tape for faster tracking
kson?
Yes
I am the Curse Curator
i hope you have house insurance
i didnt know they made black cams?
who?
It's a Touptek that's rebranded. That's all.
man what the hell
mallincam ?
mallincam? Not sure what you mean there 😅
that's not cursed but cool - actually what is the box though?
Thats my diy battery that I mainly use for field charging fpv drone batteries but it works for astro too😉
wow, nice 😄
Ah that's why LiPo - understood that now lol
how about that?
Cursed
This isn't cursed, it's cute
is that a star tracker on the star tracker?
no. Where do you see two star trackers? It's an AZ Gti on a wedge.
but nice idea fo going mega cursed though ^^
The whole universe is held up only by this screw...
You have no idea how many times it randomly collapsed
The other end of the green bracket looks like those mini star trackers
ohhh you mean the black box at the front beneath the dovetail?
That's a raspi with raspi camera 😄
that's cursed
Yep...
Lego
Fortnite
Dang I wasn't expecting that this channel that I created was going to get this far lmao
There are kinda alot of cursed setups
The tracker
Yessir
How did you do attach it to the tripod? That's a thing I wanted to do as well mb.
It's been nicely cursed by you
There's a 3/8 inch thread under the dobson mount which you can place it onto any 3/8 inch thread tripod such as the one shown in that pic.
Regarding the wonky wifi, you need to stay a couple of meters away to make it work. Took me a few months to realize this.
Then i switched to serial
Log into Facebook to start sharing and connecting with your friends, family, and people you know.
I am also planning to get another mount. Probably the AM3
Ohhh ok. Curious why not AM5? In my opinion AM3 is not that far away from AM5 regarding the price but it's a hybrid, right?
Yeah a little harmonic would really nice imho lol
It's not a hybrid. AM3 is considerably cheaper and i really don't need that extra payload capacity. As of now, i hove no money 🤣
In the immortal words of Dj Khalid: “Another one”. Not mine, FB, yadda yadda
Yes
NOOOOOO.
interesting rig fr
Askar lens
Bring out the lobster
At that angle I actually thought it was real for a second, thats a really well done build!
I approve
@crude nebula use a lego motor and bring it to life #🤩-show-us-your-rig message
Apparently the 2 axis can move but I think i did something wrong and they cant move, but that could be doable tbh
the most cursed setup is when it somehow has a guide scope bigger than the actual scope
☠️
It's not bad
Tbh
It looks cursed but it still works well
ya but im talking about how it LOOKS
i mean you can literally mistake the guide scope for the actual scope
I remember that Skywatcher has done this with a big observatory scope and one of their Evostars EDs
lmao
You can have a look in their webcast videos on YT
(which actually provide for some nice general info too imho)

literally @slim tree
✅
What settings?
Yoooo, that's from hell! (I was thinking to do something similar tbh)
I can’t wait to be over mounted with a heq5 pro and a dslr and lens xD
The chromatic abbreviation gone be crazy
wasnt there someone here who made their mount out of lego?
how well does it work
I can get 10s exposures with no startrails
900
oh wow. ehat mount do you use?
what*
oh ok
Aldi alternative to Telegizmos 365
That's actually hella impressive
Probably one of the most cursed setups.
Put another camera on there
wait whats taking the photo
My first astro setup
this an artwork not a setup - go sell this and be rich
but you gotta give it a fancy name before
fellow binocular user
jk hopefully you’re getting good views with your scope
I will, for now I only got it tomorrow and I've had 100% cloud cover since
Sup, curse initatior came back
I'd share a pic of my cursed setup but I used my phone to take this photo lol
Where are your flat frames, FRX?!
Nowhere I don't use flat frames (I'm trying to obtain the best photos only with single shots)
found this on the internet
Star adventuer holding on for dear fkn life
Poor thing 😂
Can adapter is crazy
I want to see the image from this one.
Neither PIPP, Autostakkert, nor Regi will accept the 2.4gb avi :(
That's odd, I've processed larger files on my computer.
somewhere around 100,000 frames
Okay not that many frames. But file size twice as big
lol
It's not even the equipment .... it's that the DSLR is mounted to the tripod instead of the scope.
It really should be able to assuming you have memory for it to work with?
ig that's portable, convenient and stable
A smart telescope on a harmonic drive mount?
In the name of all that is holy
That is horrifying
I can't sleep now
maybe the fact that there is 1 pier made out of two lets you sleep better?
nawwwww
HAHAHA
Gotta love the Root Beer counterweight.
Do you reckon I can get an Astro camera to focus in this
maby a phone
a babyphone maybe
Two thoughts.
-
- I'm the guy who wants to set my 585 on a Celstron 70AZ so .. there's that.
-
- I'd really hope that the toy does work as a telescope, even if cheaply. If you get that in the hands of a toddler, you might pique their interest from a young age.
idk if this counts as cursed or not but it's a 4.5" tabletop dob and 120mc planetary cam, imaging Orion (untracked, 450mm fl) :)
oof
I am gonna get a really good untracked Orion with it and enter it into the "weird setups" comp
bc it's a manual dob and planetary cam
I'm doing DSO with it, that's what makes it cursed
What’s weird about that? You don’t necessarily need track for planetary, especially with 450 mm focal length
@patent oar
it does well honestly
Orion pic is bad bc I didn't dither and no calibration frames so I'm gonna retry soon
What are you going to image for the comp?
probably Orion. I wanted to do horsehead but I don't think it's possible with 350ms exposures
Yeah that would be difficult, you could try flame nebula tho
I agree with @quartz fiber - that's not cursed but cute and nice
you dont need to dither alt-az
You can make it cursed by becoming the mount. Hold it on your shoulder bazooka style and get Orion or something
oh yes you do. I got horrible walking noise in my Orion image because I didn't dither
Cursed setup. The pictures say enough
Idc what you say. The powerseeker 60az is cursed.
The hot pixels on the second image are even more cursed

idk how to keep my camera from doing that
Is the walking noise circular?
Never heard of walking noise with altaz
it's usually in straight lines because of the earth rotation moving the target in one direction off the screen
here is my m42 image stretched more so you can see the walking noise better
I took 100 images in a row before recentering (each exposure is 400ms so 100 takes only 40 seconds)
But field rotation should eliminate most walking noise (or make it circular) especially in longer sessions
maybe I just don't go long enough for that to happen
makes me wanna buy a planetary cam (i have a 114/900 scope and it takes pics similar to yours)
This just appeared on my facebook feed
The cosmic t-mobile would like to chime in
wtf
I used to use my Tripod legs to directly polar align my tracker
Upgraded by now though and added a 45° Wedge so I don't have to constantly roll around on the floor
Rate my setup 🔥:
Nikon Coolpix 5200(older than me)
Random Monocular Telescope (older than me too)
And random deodorant box as the mount
Here's the photo I got last night
Ngl better than I expected
@tight moon this was on mine earlier.. I'm in a state of confusion and hysterics.
wh
wh
wha
w
uh
i
wtf am i looking at
this is so ridiculous that i cant even comprehend it
@empty drift my thoughts too.
Can't you tell? It's a computerized scope using a TS frac as a guide scope.
how does this even work bro 😭
or hopefully using computerized scope as a guidescope
not part of the setup but yesterday i was about to put the cap on my scope and found two moths happily inside my ota
I'm sorry
What
Where's the fun in that?
Ultimate setup
Or it’s a computerized scope acting as a goto mount for the frac
You somehow made the SWSA look big
Might try imaging with it one night just to see what I get
How has the Barlow not broken off
Idk tbh ahahah
I'm surely not gonna use this lol
Just a test
ive reached a new peak of cursed
- scope mounted backwards
- mirror up around 2 inches
- custom 3d printed focuser based on the one that came with the scope because i still couldnt focus far enough in with the mirror being moved up while also being able to do visual
- currently set to the north pole
- questionably made eq wedge that i had to only use hand tools for
- camera lcd with a shorted out back panel due to the ribbon cable clip breaking during my attempts to astromod, with the cable currently held in place by paper wedged between the frame of the camera so when its closed it keeps the ribbon cable in place to where its touching just the right contacts to give a very dim and glitched looking screen

but idk if that also counts as weird enough for the comp, lol
@median beacon cursed?
forgot to add a point
and im not even trying to make a cursed setup. this is the only way i can do dso rn
now I gotta see what type of images you can get from this hodgepodge of a setup
36 minutes
not the best but i also wasnt able to get tppa to want to work so i sort of eyeballed it
im sure the scope can do better than just orion though. i just need to work on a few other things to really nail the allignment
jesus christ 😭
ive gotten the tppa error down to a few seconds before with this setup, but there is too much slop in my wedge for it to be accurate
I genuinely wasnt expecting that level of detail
how much would you say the total cost is
ah, yeah, i should say what im using, lol
the mount / scope is a sky prodigy 130, but the starsense dosent work so its in effect just an slt 130. bought it used for $300 but im sure you can find one used for cheaper
camera is a nikon d3100 (now without that pesky uv/ir cut filter). about $100 ish used
wedge was like $40 in metal and at least 50 hours of hacking away with a hand saw
the issues with this setup as as follows
the skyprodigy that I have is old. so old that i cant even get proper usb support and have to boot the hc in a bypass mode to get usb passthrough. celestron themselves told me that it wasnt possible to control the mount with a computer, but i guess that was wrong, lol
that said, it works fine as an altazmiuth, but because i cant upgrade the HC firmware, it lacks an eq mode.
The workaround is to make the scope think its at the north pole. its super simple and it just works.
now, as to why the scope is mounted backwards?
well, because of the angle of the wedge, i had now lost all of that sweet sweet sky below like 23 degrees. And since my deck only faces south, that was my only option. thankfully it dosent really care about being upside down
The camera is also jank. dosent support most usb control and was a pain to get working. only one program has the ability to control it and the ascom drivers required a lot of jank to get working that I have forgotten
thats also before i broke it, so now i have this great new "low power" mod because i killed the lcd back pannel.
oh, and since its a newtonian, and im using a dlsr, you bet i had to move that mirror up a few inches.
ofc i also wanted to still use it for visual, and that wasnt possible with the old focuser
so, i had to remodel the whole thing and shrink it down. ofc i only had a ruller to measure it, so it took me a while.
Oh, i also have the legs plastic welded together because the plastic snapped and i cant 3d print new parts past the ones ive already had to 3d print
and i think that about covers all the cursed stuff with it.
what the hell
if you have suggestions to make it worse, im all ears
amazon basics tripod
im thinking ill just gut the whole camera and remove the mirror, because like, who cares about a mirror when your doing astro?
you dont know jank until youve experienced the worst tripod known to man
how about a tripod thats broken in about 5 spots and is only held together by plastic welding
lol
it manages to wobble my SWSA with a phone on it with like 2 atoms colliding
rip
gotta get out more
its either too cloudy, cold, or windy rn
however I have made the genius decision to use a mak as my imaging telescope so I gotta figure out where to mount my 0.5x reducer
now that wouldn't be so bad if I didn't live in one of the most light polluted cities in the world and only had a red dot finder
there are bortle 2 skies about an hour from me
i just need to get a battery bank
or well,actually
i can add to the cursed setup.
i salvaged a few hundred 18650's from old battery packs to make a large one for my ebike. so long as tsa dosent freak out i can bring that with me next time i visit home
sheesh
I need a better understanding of equipment ngl
I dont even know where to correctly place a reducer rn so I'm in that transition phase between $50 500mm lens I picked up from a thift store to proper high mag and F ratio telescope
My setup is eyes
AAAAHHHHHH
I searched "professional scope" on amazon💀
Ken would want that scope so badly if it had that much resolution for that price

@untold goblet
Geebaz someone needs to re-calibrate their definition of "professional" ... and be sued for false advertising.
I'm am glad that I didn't but this when I started
It's worse than eyes couse it will let beginners down
It kinda is bad but I guess I got lucky
(through phone)
dear god the aberration 😭
will shooting in mono fix this?
its worse than my cheap lens I picked up has better optics than this
eh
not really
the stars would just look hella bloated
(i have another scope better than this one)
did u not shoot that with a phone?
mono with a phone? 🤔
(i can use a filter if needed)
well if what it does is just turn the image black and white it wont work
actually shooting mono means the sensor is completely different
yeah
ive never heard of an actual mono phone camera
it probably just turns the image black and white
thats sounds at best impractical
i guess nobody would want their phone to only capture bandw
i'm a little scared by this one
No. Don't shoot me.

Apod
Nah this one's not even useable it's just staged lol
false advertising
"cool christmas astronomy gift for men" ☠️
identical to a dwarf II
My untracked amazon scope thing setup
That singular thumb screw is holding my scope to the t ring
Please don’t tell me that’s how you take flats
YES IT IS
It looks like it shouldn’t work
How does the phone even cover the whole objective?
Alright, still very cursed
I pray for your camera, it looks like it’s suffering to hold the scope up
That is exactly how it’s done
Well this isn’t a phone that doesn’t seem to cover te whole scope
I think the more cursed thing is that the T-shirt is 100% slightly red so your reds are hurting
Well, I'm unsure how much the color may get corrected tbh
Yeah, lights, flats, bias, darks, blues, reds, greens
But the reds from the T-shirt will 100% be washed and then stain the white part of the T-shirt in a wash
100%, flats wont remove the stain on the shirt
Lol not asking to remove the stains
But the diffuser may be applying a tint
Unsure to how much of an effect though
I think it’s that if you’re going to be reworking the colour balance anyway, all you need is enough brightness in each channel so that the imperfections show up in the flat, and that the brightness is even across the entire field.
A bright red t-shirt might make the green and blue channels too dark for it to be useful, IDK
this is how i do it
sky flat is taken in dusk or dawn when no star to be seen
best pointed zenith
alr so it doesn't matter the color
why is the screen like that
thats normal
its a feature of some dslrs
ive got it as well, so you dont need to do weird neck geometry
It’s a flip screen, it can go anywhere it wants

no way that hasnt broken
That's pretty sick tbf
I didnt have enough zoom for planetary on my 80mm refractor, so I stuck the finderscope in the scope and used a phone scope as finderscope
the fact that just the description of the rig is a tongue twister makes me understand instantly that it's gonna be cursed
I don't know but it works, it's actually on top of a 10mm eyepiece and it doesn't have the end part of it that sets up the focus of it so it's just the tube and the eyepiece on top of the eyepiece

This goes hard ngl
I gotta do more film astro once the nebulae come back
dew shield over the lens ❌️
dew shield over the whole camera ✅️

rejoining
You got demoted?
no i got banned
Why
💀
New setup who dis
Photosynthesis. Best light collecting method. Competes with JWST
Real
I have posted it in ask a nerd but here's how I set up the guide gear
Without wanting to cast shade… https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/907062-tripod-for-seestar/page-2#entry13341083
HUH?
my contraption
are you taking flats?
nah this is supposed to be a "electronic microscope"
it will go in a glovebox so you can't use a eyepiece
it's kinda hard to see but the binoculars are being held on by velcro straps
and string
dear lord
this too
Oh and my phone was being held on by a mechanical pencil eraser
Cursed right from the shelf https://www.astroshop.eu/telescopes/skywatcher-telescope-n-130-650-explorer-130ps-az-gti-goto-wifi/p,55180
imma be real
i wanted to do this once
Dont question the long dew shield
It does this. Pretty decent but i hate the mount so bad. Disconnects every 30 seconds while slewing and refuses to track completely.
Portrait astrophotography
This is why his grandfather is searching for his glasses
Not questioning the dew shield. But if this is star discovery 150p I'm questioning the focuser. How in the hell does it not bend under the weight?
it does bend, quite a lot actually. So much that it just falls out of focus
Now thats bad
Gonna try it tonight

Well it works, just need to wait for the Milky Way core to come back and I’ll try some wide field
Thoughts on my new barlow?

Lmao
Idk how it's possible but I can balance it
X to doubt
X^-1
It doesn't do it too much
weird
I just tighten the screws a lot and it holds
I was planning to to put the ball head on the dec-bracket, but forgot to take with me the screw adapter so the end setup ended a bit cursed.
why is there tape behind the screen?
It is paint chips on the hidge mechanism of the screen.
what camera are you using?
An unmodified Olympus E-PL5.
How I'm countering field rotation.
so true
tracker
...yea I really need one now
Can't keep doing this for long
My camara has a shutter count over 50k now
i think giving a tracker to sword of the six sages would be like giving crack to medieval peasant
I submit an image to skywatcher comp so I hope I at least win people's choice awards since I can get a swsa 2i
But I hope they forgot that I need a skywatcher ota/gear for it
I used to do this
it works pretty well
Defo
BRO PLEASE FIX THE TILT, SEND THE FOCUSER TO THE GYM PLEASE!
tilt is fine now
U sure?
focuser needs more than just a gym
Yea
It needs physical therapy😭🙏
exactly
Imma pray for ur focuser so it doesnt bend
But still great images
Just try fixing it
Im praying for my cem 25p to not fall apart
i looove field rotation
We sure do
This is #1087219932900638720
ffs
I'm brain dead thx
cool
Ye ofc xddd
The telescope is the mount. Genius
I need to get a tripod ASAP
where more cursed setups
ptoaot
This naughtly boy has been used to obtain about 90% of all available UFO photos and videos.
Bank CCTV camera video processor
saw this on reddit i’m not sure what the scope is but it has a diagonal with a zoo filter wheel and guide camera
and a barlow😭!? At least it's Televue
the diagonal is so unnecessary
Siccccc barlow shesh
That boah got dat virusssss
Why the cable though
Not mine but........ it fits the theme
why not ?
The only thing missing is hot glue lmao

you have to burn the hot glue afterwards so it blocks more light leaks
True lol
👃🏻
Wtf
👃🏻
🔥
is that a hadley?
oh my
peak diffraction pattern there
you know I could calculate what it would look like
that's actually the first hadley ever made
and presumably, the first ever unmade
Strongest PLA part when the temperature gets above 25c:
my diy star tracker works.
Countercounterweight frfr
Why is the camera so far from the ra axis
I'm so confused as to what is going on here
uhhhhh i didn't think to add counter wheight thx.
but if i did i couldn't balance it properly because the camera and the pipe can't rotate freely
the image on the right is made with 30s exposures on a 55mm lens
Lmao I was replying to this message
But thanks
oh ok
I'm on Mobile and my own image isn't missing lol
Ah yes
3d printed telescope left in a hot car 👍
Ohhhhhhhh
.............
🤓
Ah yes, the uhmmmm
Wow 4 finders two tubes lots of stickers
fun
two stickers
i don't understand how that functions though
This is what infinite free time and money leads to
This looks like a crap AI image came to life.
not mine, but those are each asi 6200s 😭😭😭
9 asi6200s and 9 sigma 105 lenses
someone calculate how much that costs
a lot
Around 60k
Literally pay-to-win
This much be so difficult to all lineup at the same spot
it’s for milky way too
You mean a survey?
could be, all the information i have is “it’s for milky way”
I think for multi scope mounts they already have them aligned fine
me wen i would be a millionaire
the camera is held by a screw but it rotated on the dovetail so i held the lens with a velcro attached to the dovetail, the velcro is of the dew heater strap 💀💪🏻

It has a Peltier
"mom can we get an astro camara?"
" no we have it at home."
The astro camara at home:
....
I haven't tested it with the cell phone in the case yet. But outside the case it worked fine
Is that ice?
It can reach -10 degree if i use the fan at 100%. But i will use to only get arrond 10 degrees.
I like to explore the limits of simple equipment that everyone discredits.
Yeah I noticed, it’s really cool!
how come you dont get a better phone adapter
that can adjust distance from the eyepiece
My adapter is always at the exact distance from the eyepiece... I modified it
i shouldve assumed
So whenever I take a photo, the cell phone is in the right position to avoid creating vignettes. So I end up not needing another adapter...
I had the exact same eyepiece holder part (be careful cause it may break mine broke cause i had tightened it a little more)
how do you find the exact distance?
is there a formula?
the one he has is already at a fixed dist
I understand that
I wanna do the mod in the future if possible
But my question was how to find the distance in the first place
Testing. The case I use for astrophotography is very thick, which makes the phone sit taller. The rest of the height I defined with flocking. I added flocking throughout the adapter until the cell phone was at the height where I realized there were no more vignettes; So, in addition to reaching the right height every time I use it, the flocking prevents parasitic light from entering between the cell phone lens and the eyepiece.
Thanks
The 2nd version of the camera to mount adapter is taking shape
is that a lego motor drive
Yes it is
Final version. Some strenghtening to do on the baseplate but i'm almost there
Dunno - I don't think that this thing is cursed.
I find it quite cool
A mount old 14 years, you probably never heard of PicGoto and its a hella old program (handmade mount)
ok it looks cool but also cursed
Yeah
But i heard that kf handled well it can be precise as an eq5 with a guiding scope
And if not handeled properly then like an eq3
Saw this posted in the observational astronomy server….. the F ratio must be crazy
there are microscope lenses at > f100 but this is too much
Bro's about to see jupiter's atoms
or dust in the optical system
F ratio as in "what in the actual F-ratio"
my first image with this eyepiece
it´s cursed, but give me good results
that is stunning
is it a digital eyepiece?
No
Phone at eyepiece
oh, that's absolutely incredible
whoa this is amazing imho for a phone and so on
And no coma? DAAAAMMNNN
where are the 6-sided lines around the stars coming from on a phone

The diffraction spikes? They'd be coming from the spider I assume
on a phone....?
On the telescope
The spider that holds the s secondary. I assume the other three spikes are after a meridian flip
Ultraflatfield eyepiece +Bxt
My telescope is actually very similar to this one
Ya I saw the post in ds images and just looked up the model lol
But it is the equatorial model. Comes with some better things in the build. But visually it's practically identical.
what, the shitballs
Ah yes
My favourite activity
Dipping balls in shit
(This might get me banned)
nah u good

has he put the camera facing the camera 😂

💥
That's how we get a mount dancing to dubstep
Auto hand controll
NEED😍
i think its good for a setup like this
Automatically turns your hand at the right speed
bottom left one looks creepy af
Ikr
The bottom two look like ai
I think ai made the optics too, cannot imagine how bad they are💀
The top two just look heavily photoshopped, the bottom right is either ai or a kids toy and the bottom left is just GLaDOS
Lookin mf

Not mine
Hahaha fr
Smallest Newtonian Telescope in The World
Primary mirror - - - - - 18.88mm (19mm)
Secondary mirror - - - - 6.8mm
Focal length - - - - - - - - 77mm
Focal ratio - - - - - - - - - f4
Not mine btw
How did you do this?
aaaaw it's adorable
Its when your alt az mount only goes left right, up down. eq goes left right, up down, tilt tilt to account for the sky rotation
I know what field rotation is what I was wondering how do you account for it?
get an eq mount
I don't rlly find it much of a problem tbh, I just shoot smaller targets, and expect a crop.
What program do you use to rotate the images?
An Equatorial mount
there are a few ways
eq mount is the best option
but stacking with rotation fixes the issue
but u need at least 3 stars for that to work (in astrosurface)
i just cropped it out, no there isnt silly!
cause its stacked peoperly (with 3 or 2 star alignment in siril (probably manualy))
here is an example
no i just used deepskystacker
oh i cant
cause my dataset conatins stars but with noise
so can only use bright stars
😢
have star counter or whater locked at 2%?
no worked fine for me (when untracked with az mount)
oh cool will try with new dataset
if the number is like 1000 thats when you increase it
oh i see
my noise (i just do widefield now so ignore the eyepiece)
thought this was a sun pic for a second
Deep sky stacker just aligns them
like this
Tape, tape and more tape.
invisible scope
Hahahaha
I love field rotation
Orion go weee
mee too
Don't worry, this is just testing lol. Gonna use it as the guide scope for my Sony GM 100-400 on my heq5
It's like comparing the human brain with the hagfish's brain
Started cursed, now uncursed
This dovetail certainly looks cursed
Looks cursed but works perfectly
what in the hell (excuse my french) is that
Same question
If it works it works
Well….
What am I looking at
Very old telescope with very new camera
I need to see this
Just did some research that's quite an interesting story
Still big tho haha
W o w
B a l l
i think i also saw some talk about a guy who created a tracking mount for the astroscan
I was thinking about trying to do that
1 camera - moving it between the guidescope (used as a digital finderscope for now lol) and the main telescope, checking if I'm still on target, then adding a barlow and checking again (using astrometry.net)
I only have 1 axis motorized for now, so I move one of the axises using the knob.. no motorized focuser either so setting focus while not losing the star I'm aiming at is... interesting
somehow managed to get on target lmao, can't breathe or on it though I'll lose where I am..

I saw dat goofy scope on astroshop once lmao

Dont worry i put my pc on something similar so i think i have a cursed setup too
I only do it cuz i dont want my stuff to get wet lol
How much does that scope have
have what
Of width (sry i forgor writing that)
Yea i still have to get used to speaking 4 languages( sometimes i forget words)
Thats huge tho
Fr
nah, thats average
Rounded
my true aperture is 254
You get me
At least you dont use a 15 year old mount (homemade) that works acctually better than most sky watcher and bresser mounts like eq5 and exos 2 with goto
Rate it 1/10 guys
seems pretty normal to me
Eh the cable management is what is hurting
Mines a 150 (its much smaller)
U said 10 inch tho?
No...?
man wtf is that😭
the cable management is awful
💀
no its beatiful when you really look at it from a different pov
whats your lens?
just some 35mm nikon
its really bad but it was just an experiment
Is that Anton Chigurh
LMAO
I swear thats the berries and cream guy
Sony A7RIII
The "R" stands for "Rock"
dude went a year bacl
Which is exactly how old you are (for legal reasons this is a joke)
"for legal reasons"
Omg that telescope I've seen that before
Clean out the dust in ur laptop it's very easy and effective
Is that a bird jones telescope
Aw hell nah
Yup..
Bruh why u buy it
Idk
It had go to
I didnt know all about the different types of telescopes when i bought it
Fan >>>
Jokes aside yes, I should clean it
Aw hell yeah, its a nice rig
i still dont understand the "1 year old" roast
The scope 😭😭😭
I was very close to buying that scope
Ur lucky u didnt
I only bought cuz i can easily make a bit of money
I bought it for £100 so yk
THEWHAT

Super Takumar 200?
Vivitar 200mm f/3.5
Ah, I have a Vivitar 135 but, alas, a bad one
rip, this one is from a friend. Havent tried it yet so here goes nothing
I also dont have the proper mounting for it but im impatient
Vivitar rebranded a bunch of different manufacturers over the years, it depends on the year of manufacture. Some are made by Asahi and quite good. Mine is not.
Gotcha. If i get anything decent ill share
Eh ill share the bad stuff too

bro AT LEAST cut that wood plank
Thats his adaptive optics laser
no

not mine
I feel like this is a solid setup
i feel bad for that gti
💀
I mean it's an ultralight
the mirrors have weight too
Hey I have the same iron sights as that guy
why do you have iron sights
It's like a little baby brother
Why not lol
Gives me a GENERAL idea of where I'm pointed
Sick man
Not mine
THE SOUND MAKES IT SO MUCH BETTER

Astrophotography for $20 challenge

I think you've even seen photos taken with this setup)
This is the ~~~ setup
Let's be safe while solar imaging!!!
Second day doing astronomy thanks to @celest sierra and got this wonderful homemade setup built
LOL it’s amazing
