I was unable to get the streetlight pollution out of my photo. But maybe you guys can. Goodluck!

Damn that was some serious light pollution. This is the best I could get haha

That's great! thank you

#

yea this target was pretty low on the horizon, just above a street light

#

What program did you use to subtract the pollution? 🙂

Yeah I have the same problem with the Orion Constellation. But atm I have had non stop cloud so I am processing other peoples images ahaha

#

I use GraXpert and then the old school dust and scratches subtraction in photoshop

proud cairn
#

oh nice, didn't know that was a thing

#

Which one GraXpert?

#

Its fairly new I think but its free!

proud cairn
#

yes, i use gimp for editting me photos

#

I'm gonna take a look at GraXpert! thanks mate

I have never used GIMP myself. But GraXpert is stand alone software. Their website has a video on how to use it.

#

No worries! Good Luck!

Any filters used for this?

proud cairn
#

@formal junco Optolong L-Pro, but the streetlight was at the same level as my balcony

#

It was a bit too strong for the filter i think

#

There was also a full moon haha, but to be honest. I'm just happy I was able to see the horsehead for the first time

it feels like its slightly out of focus, the stars look pretty bloated

#

quick and rough process, extremely difficult background

proud cairn
#

This was the focus from that night

#

Is it possible that the stars look like that because i don't have a field flattener or coma corrector?

formal junco

Does a coma corrector also flatten the field of view?

#

When i look at my corners the stars always go the sides of the photo

#

This one show it a bit better

#

My scope is a newtonian btw

Thanks that just cleared up a lot of confusion!
