#Calibration Frames Not Working
55 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
did you only take 1 flat?
8 flats 7 darks 7 biases
8 flats has always worked for me until now
Siril
Siril was fine for me, but I usually take 50 flats if not more
I'm looking into doing 100 flats from now on so that might be the issue
Do you think i am still fine with my amount of darks and biases
take at least 25
that would be the bare bare minimum for me
besides, you as long as you're in the same temperature and have the same focus you can take these whenever
i take my calibration frames only after the clouds roll in
so i don't waste my clear time with them
100 flats is generally too many around 25-50 is recommended any higher is either pointless or will do something to the image well thats what i got told atleast
i'll stick to around 75 then. thanks for the input
8 flats is quite little id say around 20 flats is generally a good effect overall but ive never stacked in siril so could be something like that
Thanks for your guys help. Strange that I was getting away with 8 flat frames before but looks like something changed.
By any chance are you using longer subs that before? Ive just gone from 2m to 10m and it makes calibration frames sooo much more important
I've gone from 90 to 120 seconds.
Hmm that couldve caused it but im not sure maybe just try taking my calibration frames and should work (:
Make sure you have the same focus and iso as your light frames
I had an issue too, dss said the flats and darks iso was 200 different to lights 800. I checked multiple properties for shots they matched iso and focal apart from biases shutter speed ???
Having the exact same issues again.
I took 26 flats and 30 darks and biases
None of my calibrations are working. not just my flats
but yeah i should do that anyway
i think its so dirty with dust spots that not even flats work lol
Im not sure though
Try to clean your camera and lens then point it to a flats white surface and take a picture
and look where the dust spots are
Hmm really odd. Could u send me one of your flats?
Also instead of bias try dark flats instead? Never tried it myself but ive been having issues with flats atm and was gonna test this
I dont know if anyone is till in this thread but the issues continue. All my frames are .Cr2 and I took 20 frames of each calibration.
When I do a histogram stretch of my data it looks like my calibration frames are not aligned with my image.
Having same issues sorta /: may i ask what scope u use?
William optics z61
Do u take flats with a panel or ipad or with daylight in the morning? So far ive found that my flats seem more effective with daylight flats
with Ipad
If possible try it with daylight flats? Theres a chance it could work like that
Ill try that. Quick question does this look like walking noise? I dithered so now Im thinking all my calibrations frames are off
For what i can tell it looks like it a little maybe dither more if possible but ive not had walking noise so im not that great with knowing or not ๐
The only other time i had this pattern is when my camera temperater was different with darks and darks with 2 min not 5 min
I dither every 3 frames (5 pixels) and I m only exposing for 60 seconds. I have been doing this for a bit now without issues. I guess I'll dither 10 pixels next time
Yeah its worth a shot but if not then my best guess is something else with calibration frames
didnt work
Yikes XD guess we are both stuck with bad flats
Broken flats gang
