Bortle 9 Horsehead L-eXtreme

Captured 72 x 600s (12h) of Horsehead Dual Narrowband L-eXtreme with my AT72EDII and ASI533MC-Pro from my backyard in downtown Atlanta. Cooled to -15. Here is my edit; I'll do somethings different on the next one but wanted to see what somebody else can do with this data. I'm practicing and learning from the best! This is just a Cropped and ABE for that BAT submission. I would be VERY interested to see some of y'alls techniques in trying to tame the halo around alnitak. it's always a challenge but especially with the L-eXtreme HALO MONSTER

This is the first time I’ve seen the infamous L-halos

It was definitely a surprise to see circles appear around my stars in the auto stretch

Yup. It gets pretty bad with longer exposures. And these are 600s exposures

To be fair it was some of the cleanest data I’ve seen, i didn’t have to worry about weird gradients or anything

That’s great to hear! That is why I got this filter in the first place after all. My bortle sucks so I have no choice but to shoot narrowband. Although my andromeda came out pretty nice and that was all Broadband

But 12 hours of duo-narrowband will help with gradients ha
