#Help with my milky way photos
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
are my images good enough to see the milky way (even a bit) if I edit correctly?
oh i forgot about it
1 sec
here
I know the images arents that good, but that's because Im in a city (I used my canon 250d with the kit lens for the image)
you should have access to the images now
Ill see
no, im new to it and I didnt have a lot of time

I dont even know how to stack😂
was it even pointed at the milkyway
yes it was
is it raw
its TIFF
did you shoot raw idk what tiff is
i didnt shoot in raw but the images are in tiff
you need to shoot in raw in the future!!!!!
ok, ill try again tomorrow (if the sky wont be bad)
okay take multiple 20 to 30 second exposures in raw and then stack them its actually very easy
i can edit them
im good at ediitng
Sequator is good for milky way+landscape photos while programs like ASTAP and DeepSpyStacker are good for deepsky
for milky way it isnt too bad to do it without, just need to stack
I just downloaded Sequator like a minute before you said it lol
deepsky stacker siril and sequator gave me the same results so it doesnt matter
alright, thanks
it does, image quality is slightly different across all
deepsky stacker is the best imo i didnt have any problems with it
sequator and siril had problems
ASTAP is the best for free im pretty sure, nice and editable but takes slightly more time
so should i just try with all of them or check which one is the best for beginners?
do you have landscape with your milky way?
use siril and gimp for editing
i dont
then DSS is easy for beginner use, ASTAP can be slightly confusing in the beginning but imo its worth it
there are lights there (from the place that i photograph )
and i dont want it to worsen the picture
well to get rid of light pollution you just have to travel to a place with darker skies, but gradients can also be removed to an extent in post processing
yes use backround extraction in siril thats the best
ill try
@shy panther getting ur equipment out tomorrow night?
if clear then probably, although it aint much equipment, camera, lens and tripod
- moon
yeah, but i cant travel that often so im trying to stay as close to my house as possible
Promises to be clear tomorrow
can only hope
hopefully lol
there were high altitude clouds yesterday so i couldnt have done anything anyway
for me its basically a casino rn lol
I'll get the most out of the night since nights like tomorrow are rare
location?
Estonia
ayyy nice, same :p
im trying to stack rn some of my old pictures (their not milky way, but they were from a timelapse i created)
youre probably not near saaremaa im guessing?
Yeah, Tallinn
what camera and lens do you have though, maybe we could do some sort of collab if the equipment matches enough
good luck!
the timelapse was kinda good, so i hope that the stack will be alright
thanks!
We might be able to. I don't have a dslr tho. I currently use my binos. I still get good results tho, because i can do 30 sec exposures.
ah, so phone and binos, approximately what focal length?
Not completely sure, tried finding some info on google, but couldn't find the focal lenght. The diameter is 42, fov is 6.8°. I'll send how orion looks in stellarium 1 sec
Something like that i'm guessing. You've probably seen the pics i've taken?
havent done much here lately so no
I just measured, about 150mm
These are the pics i've taken
actually surprisingly good for phone and bino setup
not sure how well we could combine the data though, my zoom lens has quite some CA, maybe gonna have to step down the aperture
Yeah, you have about 150mm of focal lenght?
this is my orion at 100mm FL and F4.0, around 46 minutes of data
my zoom lens is from 55mm to 300mm
Alright. I don't know if it's worth trying to share the data. A dslr+ phone is quite different than binos+phone
are you able to get a DSLR with some basic kit lens? there are some cheaper options available for under 200eur
Also i've been wondering if it's possible to stack images that have different iso and exposure time etc
Yes i am, i was thinking of buying one and i will soon.
I wanna get a decent one for both daytime and astro, but god damn the marketplace sucks
on facebook?
Yes, mostly looked from there
I'll see
I thought the nikon d5500 would be great, but they're not on any of these sites other than facebook for 500€, think thats a bit too much for it.
And i want to save some money aswell, for a tracker scope etc
So i guess i have to find a new camera to get
probably gonna do the same, getting a tracker would be a huge step up
but getting a lens with better light gathering power would also be very nice
Whenever i'll buy stuff i think i'm gonna go all out since buying used stuff doesn't work and selling them also...
i see a nikon D3000 + 18-55mm kit lens for 140eur on there
Is the d3000 good tho? For daytime and astro
it's 10mp, which isnt the greatest
Mmmmmm my phone has more haha
Found a 60d for 190€, but ended up not buying
60d, d3000 and d5000 seemed to be pretty similar
D5300 is great too
if you can find one that is :p
I've found like 3 or 4 in facebook
high prices?
About 250-300€
def seems like a solid camera
Ok i swear i saw atleast 3 d5300 for 250-300€ but now i don't
its got same resolution as my camera so it could go pretty well
maybe been bought out already
that's a rather big step up
Wdym?
in terms of price
Oh yeah, it is pretty high
I haven't looked at mars in a long time, i'll have to see how much bigger it looks through my scope
it's just a dot on my 300mm lens
I have a 900mm telescope
which?
National geographic 90/900
pretty sure i saw that on FB marketplace
I bought it like in winter or a bit after winter. Got a good deal for 50€. Got me started into this hobby and yeah. I've also seen some people sell the exact same scope a few times
thats a pretty decent deal
But no dobs. Uhh
i saw an 8" on sale at some point there
some orion astrograph or something like that
havent looked at that yet, hold on
5" dob there
they got some expensive refractors though holy
And a 6" too
