I wouldn't recommend using a 4x barlow
Only if your going to do planetary imaging with dedicated cam
not using barlows at all for visual observation
Trouble is that if you use Barlows to increase the focal length of the scope it becomes a nightmare keeping stuff in view. I have a 2x Celestron Omni and you have about 1 minute before you have to adjust the position. With the Heritage’s push-to mount, that’s hard.
That said, I would recommend a 2x Barlow. The Omni is better quality than the standard Skywatcher eyepieces. I would get a 2x Barlow and then a 8-10mm eyepiece with a more comfortable eye relief than the Skywatcher.
okay thanks everyone!
and what eyepiece do you recommend
?
The Skywatcher ones are adequate, not terrible. I have various Celestron plossl eyepieces and the quality is marginally better, but I would choose a gold line one instead https://telescopicwatch.com/goldline-eyepieces/
(I haven’t used one)
Oh ok
They dont have 8mm only 6mm 9mm 15mm and 20mm
So choose 9mm?
And can you recommend good phone mount for heritage 130p?
With a 2x Barlow, I would go for the 6mm so long as it’s a wide angle one like the goldline. The Skywatcher 10mm is fine with a 2x Barlow.
Assuming you’re on a budget, yeah. I don’t have much experience with the more expensive ones.
Yep
.
Sorry for asking too much things
So what good phone mount do you can recommend
?
I got a cheap one like this off aliexpress. There are loads of clones, pay as little as you can because it’s not a high quality item, though it does work.
Btw if you were having any doubts about the goldline, I have one and it’s outstanding
Very highly recommend it
Oh okay thanks!
If you look for very high quality, there's the 4x Tele Vue Powermate.
barlows are game changing for visual planetary. got a omni 2x for my 5" dob and I can see the Cassini Division and main cloud belt on Saturn with ease using that barlow, Jupiter is breathtaking, many cloud belts visible on the southern hemisphere. That is not possible without a barlow.
You just get so much closer to the planet, and the experience is amazing
As long as you dont go TOO high with the magnification, and your telescope is large enough to support it, barlows are great for visual (planetary only)
With the barlow, Mars's black dust is visible
Yeah, for planets it is worth getting a 2x/3x barlow, but i was talking about deep sky objects
Barlows for planetary observation really make things pop up onto view
yeah
deep sky objects absolutely dont use barlow
nothing wrong with using it for planets though
It is actually good, it also lowers the f number so the planet is not just a white circle
Well, sort of
It might be quite blurry
As long as you don't go too far, it's going to be far superior to no barlow
Don't throw in a 5x barlow
Don't exceed max magnification
Above 200x is too much for visual I believe though, at that level it's too magnified
Actually it really does depend on the scope
Best if not above the suggested maximum
not to mention sky condition
You can do above 200x if you have good seeing but thats rare
You will also have problems tracking
This is assuming your scope has enough aperture
I believe that they are using the for visual, no?
I forgot where this forum even started
It's fine to use barlows for planets if and ONLY if you 1.
I'm just saying barlows aren't bad for planetary
Have bought it from a decent seller
- Aren't going over the suggested max
- Have good seeing and cooled off your scope beforehand
True
Amm just to make sure i have an heritage 130p in the stock 10mm and 25mm eyepieces..
I just want an Barlow and i think some eyepice?
to look on mars, jupiter and saturn
I dont know i think i well go with 2x balow the omni one
and this
Thats the moon with the stock 25mm and my phone
With the heritage 130p
