#Can someone give me a recommendation for a solid quality telescope ~300$

both, I live in the suburbs tho so light pollution might be a problem for deep sky
Yeah well I know that some tabletop dobs are good for visual and some planetary but not deepsky. and most refractors for that price would not be great let me ask @calm cave he knows more then I do.
6" dobsonian
150mm
Normal recommendation for that budget is a 6” dob, like a SkyWatcher Heritage 150p, which is what I have. It’s great for clusters and good for planets (with a good Barlow lens). The only reason it’s not great for planets if because it’s really hard to keep them in view without tracking. You won’t see nebulas and galaxies unless you can see them with your naked eye.
The hertiage dobsonian is overall a good telescope for a cheap price
Bad for astrophotography though, if you’re thinking of doing that.
Wdym by your last sentance?
It's fine for planetary astrophotography
He’ll need tracking if he wanted to image
You don't for planetary
Just keeping a planet in view for more than 30s is a challenge
Teamonkey already said its hard to keep a planet in view without tracking
But for nebulas and stuff, most are too faint to see through the eyepiece if that’s what OP is expecting to see. You need long exposures for that. M31 is just a smudge.
LMC has got amazing results with his manual 8" dob
Honestly i dont have a hertiage i just know how good it is but sense someone who already has it says its hard to keep a view with plants i thought it would be hard to image them aswell
Well I got this last night, but it wasn’t fun and not exactly good https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/800854099448430633/1033488778326720562/19_44_57_stacked__lapl5_ap75_conv_scaled.png
@trim sentinel https://www.firstlightoptics.com/telescopes-in-stock/skywatcher-skyliner-150p-dobsonian.html i recomend this, it's 1200mm so better for planets than 750mm.

Yeah, sucks that I probably wont be able to see nebula's or andromeda.
Also why is this worse for astrophotography than a refractor?
maybe I read this thread wrong
U need big aperture and mostly dark skies to see deepspace
You need accurate tracking so you can get long exposures.
Nothing to do with being a reflector or refractor
yeah I think with me living in the suburbs anyway its not going to be possible
Andromeda is just barely visible after standing outside for like an hour
Do you have the opportunity to carry a scope to a dark area out of town?
I live right next to an open lands area, so my backyard is probably the darkest its going to get around here
What bortle?
depends on what i look at but my area is either a 5 or 6
guess ill just move to quebec
With binos i can, might be a challenge to see JUST with eyes
yeah binoculars are a good idea
I can send u pics of andromeda and m42 i took
