#Phone Astrophotography
1 messages · Page 7 of 1
Ye while i was asleep
damn
I thought that there was going to be no rain
it happens
recomendation i got from an experienced guy, use medical grade distilled water
bye bye
caught Saturn and Andromeda Galaxy from my dads phone!
That's the most likely reason
Yeh, saul goodman explained everything to me
Ok
Lmao
When it comes to phones I gotta say, a full stack in average seeing is equal to one frame with an astrocam in good seeing
This probably can't be applied to every phone
And every astrocam
For me and my phone and cam
Ok
One exposure vs a full stack (the other photo is worse because I took a photo of my laptop screen using my phone)
send me tiff please
I’m not home
I’ll try restacking it
With my data laptop
all i need is the "Autosave.tif"
Moon, Mercury and some stars
Dayum, yall leaving me like nothing, my boss still havent call me to work
now its time to take a video and stack it
+full moons are one of the most boring objects to image
I have done this and am transferring the video rn
Well, I'm not rich and it's the one thing I can do with my equipment, I'm a big astro noob
you dont need tracking to take a video
Didn't say that
I'm still very new to this whole thing so I'm still leaning
The moon is one thing I know I can practice on so that's where I'm starting
I've taken some others but obv edited photos too so....
stacked with?
An old one, but messed a bit with the sliders
I should probably remove some of the stars
Any help is much appreciated... Why does AS do this?
did you spam AP?
Spam ap?
I'm very new to this, first time using autostakkert for a video
Used pipp then now using AS but it went very went
Wrong*
@chilly vessel I just restarted and used pipp again and it saved a bunch of photos not a video 😦
Nvm I think I know why
Because you selected the moon as your processing options that's normal you just have to put all of those frames in Autostakkert .
That problem is probably from your alignment points if you used a few alignment points now use more or if you used a lot of alignment points now use less or go with a lot of alignment points
But I think you should definitely use more
That's totally not confusing lol
I have a 12gb approx 3500 frame video from pipp, I'm now processing it with about 17 AP's... No clue what I'm doing here lol
Maybe I just don't have a very clear video tbh 😭

Man! That is beautiful! I wish I could win a giveaway for a full astrophotography set haha 😆
HOLY 🥵
Put a watermark plz and then can i use this as my phone wall paper?
Sensational!
I am blown away, just discovered this "expert raw" photo mode wtf!? It has star tracking!
Yes
This is why you buy an android
Ok iPhone user 💀

I just priced out a new 23 ultra, fk they expensive lol
50 +/-$ a month tho so that could work
Got a trade in for my phone.... You will never believe what they offered me for a note 20 ultra 512 GB 5g phone........ 150$.... Rip off 😂
It must have been broken
Nope, no damage, I use it still haha
HOLY SHOT
B E A U T I F U L
What bortle
3
@fair trellis what "bortle" I think they call it
Curious cuz I can now do that with my camera but need a clear night ffs
Wdym? Whats a bortle u mean?
Nah what bortle were you in for your shot?
3
That has to be something wrong with your processing method
40mins in a b3 should yield much better results
I can only get 4 near me 😦
Is there a good light pollution map? I use lightpolutionmap.info but it's only updated last in 2015.....
Yeah, but it has a terrible walking noise issue. @spring viper I processed it a bit for you
I have very strong vignetting during processing, as well as very strong noise at the edges of the frame. My phone doesn't have the best camera. And there are few details due to the fact that I live at 53 °, where the sun illuminates the atmosphere, photo from the beginning of July.
Maybe my ISO is too high, 1000

I just started astrophotography with a phone, does anyone here have experience with the halide app?
i just realised it has no video functionality
If your phone supports video on pro mode use that, its the best option
It doesn’t. It’s an iPhone 8+

Here's one photo I found from an iPhone 13 pro
I shot this image of a asteroid with my iphone 16pro
does anybody play warthunder im bored
#🎮-gaming
Do you take flats before or after your image session?
After
After because you need the exact same focus for flats
ss ?
yeh but isn't the focus drifting throughout night anyway. I take them after as well but I'd like to do it first to get it out of the way. If I focus on my object and then do it, it should be fine right?
shutter speed
İ was holding the phone
This was an iPhone13 from last week
what bortle?
bro just go into iso or exposure and lower it
is that a naked chestnut
It's a undiscovered asteroid, I named it astropotato69-1
sorry,i thought higher would be better cause i was holding
B3 although battling the full moon
looks really good for a phone tho
This was another from earlier in the night (50x 4s, ISO 3000) less Milky Way visible but quite like the composition rising above the light from the town/haze
crazy what phones can do, I'll be at a b2 for the perseids this weekend and will try it out myself. Got a new phone recently.
Feels like the last few years has really pushed the boundaries.
Also this is an iPhone, I think some of the Samsungs and Xiaomis can do much better!
which iphone you gotß
iPhone13
nice, that's a decent camera
I will mainly image with my 80D over the weekend, but will surely put the phone to the test
Maybe I can even capture the perseids in a video 🤔
lower, less trail
Yes, a higher/fast shutter speed will be better. Also use the lowest iso possible but still having a perfectly exposed image
please image at astrodark
no?
just do a 800 iso, 1/250 second shot of saturn??
Saturn doing its thing
Huh?
Well, dead tired at work for 3h of cloud data, nice.
bruhhh
everytime theres an astronomical event to watch, its ruined by clouds
i rlly want to see the meteor shower but my chances seem unlikely
ig
Damn it
ya weather looks shitty, I drive to the b2 anyway, if I get lucky there will be up to 3h with very little clouds
how accurate is nightshift btw
nothing is tbh

Holy whats the scope? The exposures too plz .
Probably like 1min total for each with the Nexstar 8SE and an iPhone Xr
These are from dark skies
Dang .
I am mostly in bortle 3 so no problem about that
I should try that tbh
I have a really good scope for galaxies with phone
had my phone taking pictures of the meteor shower before its peak- I stopped it from taking pictures early so i only didn't catch any meteors in the picture, still came out really cool w/ the clouds though. edited in lightroom
what scope is that taken from?
Celestron 114/900
is it tracked?
I think that might be the effect of the eyepiece exit pupil, as opposed to optical vignetting (but could be wrong).
I’ve found the same effect can be so strong it throws off the alignment process so the images can’t be stacked properly without cropping out the dark edge.
Yes
Maybe
oh cool
get a dslr or any astrocam
you have a great rig
You can check by setting up and aiming at a street lamp or inside the house.
If it’s optical vignetting it will be reduced a lot by the brightness. If eyepiece related then there will still be a harsh circular outline

@iron bear these images are really impressive for a phone! Do you think this would be a possible HoF?

Phenomenal!
holy moly crazy
Did a re-edit on my MW
I used. AstroShader
What was the exposure time, ISO and number of subs?
4sx60 for the one with Cygnus at 3072 (both)
And 1sx50 with the one with trees
You might be able to push to subs a bit longer for the wide field shot (letting you stop down the ISO). Might help with the noise
I did 4s like you on this one and it’s good
No stacking beacuse im on a vacation, only edit in lightroom mobile
Also i cought one of those perseids meteors
ughhhhh its so cloudy, not going to see the meteor shower peak
i could only see 1 or 2 stars, theres like no patches of empty space
My first time seeing the milky way with my own eyes
This was in bortle 4 so it was barely visible but still visible
Learn to dither, please
You can do so much better with it
Have you got the original image for this - and would you mind if I have a crack at processing it?
(…and analysing the noise)
Sure, this was just a test because I'm on vacation but when I go back home that won't really be an option.

What does one sub look like
One stack out of the 5 looks like this
And this was a VERY clear night

You probably wouldn't even be able to see a single sub since astrophoto mode at -2.0 ev is 1/15s @ 2400iso
I dont care send one sub

Bortle 4 but in that direction is São Paulo among other big cities, so the skyline bright
📌 Munhoz, Brazil.
Please stack Magellanic Clouds
I will stack and merge the foreground.
When I align and stack the sky, the foreground will blur. Will I have to merge a single frame...
I mean you are focusing on the MC’s may as well only stack those
I usually turn off the tracking on the Eq to capture the foreground, but on this one I did it all together. Didn't blur as much in the 60s with active tracking
The intention is to use the whole field with the landscape.
I will use the same stack. I will not stack by sequator... I always stack by pixinsight. Then I can do two separate processings from de same stack
Why? Pipp will compress the raw... After stacking I can just cut the stack without any problems.
Idk PIPP doesn’t compress raw images and video
By changing the format there is always a quality compression. As much as it is tiff or fit. By pixinght I use the Xisf format which has much better quality
Bro wants him to do some extra stuff
He has pixinsight so idk why he'd use pipp
sliders only have the maximum option, nothing else
It can go up to 100s exposure

That's really pretty

Hello guys...I would like to ask something...I currently have a Skywatcher Heritage 130p...can you suggest me a cheap phone adapter ??
There’s a Celesteon one called “Basic Smartphone Adapter”. I found it a bit fiddly to use but quite effective if you have patience.
Also tried the Celestron NexXY 3-axis, but was too wobbly.
I was recommended the Move Shoot Move smartphone adapter. For me this is the best by far. Rock solid and very easy to use. A little more expensive though.
Guys is there any way to set iso in video mode
Or a app that lets me control the iso?
Not only the iso, things like shutter speed, focus etc.
5" Maksutov, 10mm eyepiece (150x zoom), 1500mm focal length, Samsung a52s 5g
Iso 50-20
Approximately 5000 frames for each stacked
Bortle 7
Its good but very noisy
If you're going to get one, think about the total weight that you'll be putting on top of the focuser, since it's only plastic and a bit weak. The weight of the phone you'll be using + the weight of the adapter.
I've thought that too...I've found one light weight adapter but my phone by it self is quite heavy
Yea that’s what I don’t like
But I’m getting a new setup
Celestron Astro if 130
And svbony sv305 camera
The ring nebula and m13 and the moon I got with 12x60 monocular
I couldn’t bring my main scope with me on my trip to Dominican Republic
That’s why I used it
I was you i would buy Mars-C or ASI224MC. If you only save up a bit it would make a huge difference
And dont get the astromaster 130 they got bad mounts
I know
I said I’m getting a Astro fi 130/750
I think its on an eq2 mount
Ok, but dont get mad with the mount
Good then
Ok
Dayummmm thats good
I would rather save up for a better cam, but if you use the sv305 correctly it would work fine, i saw some nice results with it
Yea I’m on a budget
I don’t want to go all out yet
😅
Plus I already have sum filter
Filters
I’m going to get better stuff slowly
Get a uranus-c and that's the only camera you'll need
Uncooled uranus-c shot, 1hr 30m integration with a poor optical telescope
Remember if your broke get the neptune-C-II
Shhh
It works pretty well
Just returned from a Bortle 3 location. I will post pictures in a few moments.

All of this is from Bortle 3 on a moto edge 20 lite
The core is 133x16s at 800 ISO
Cygnus Region is 103x16s at 1600 ISO
I'm gonna try processing these better, but I will leave that for tomorrow
I've got a celestron NeXY-Z, I find it completely fine to use. Align it over the lens during the day on something like a tree or bird in the distance, then it's ready to use at night time. One important thing I'd say is to make sure the tightening screw is very very tight, otherwise it may slip or very subtly wobble over the course of the evening

Fr
No. It is with the standard Xiaomi 12 or Mi12. But the camera sensor is the same, so the result will be similar.
Dude, my phone has post processing or something and it makes my photos worse, i dont know how to turn it off
Just uses raw mode
Try DeepSkyCamera
Funny that here I have very few hotpixels. But I noticed this same difference in the amount of hotpixels from the native app to the deepskycamera on a friend's Galaxy s22
How do you remove hot pixels
I mean tonight im going all out on astro so i might give deepskycamera one more try
I remove with calibration frames. Dark frames... But my raws already come out with very few hotpixels
Single 60s iso 400 raw. M17 from São Paulo, bortle 9
You can hardly see any hotpixels
With camera the result is already expected. The fun is precisely in taking a photo with the equipment that nobody expects anything
This one for example, I haven't even processed it yet, I just stacked one of the 4 nights I've already captured, and it's already in that quality.
What mount has such good guiding?
No of course not. I'm just commenting that taking pictures with equipment that nobody believes will get good results is more fun than taking pictures with the same equipment that everyone else uses. but anyway I should also be using a dedicated soon.
Generic Eq3 that I modified

Dithering really does have an effect but I had to stay crouching for about an hour
Can anyone help me edit this photo? 10 minute exposure photo on my note 20 ultra in bortle 2!!! First time I have ever had color like this!
Hey guys. I need some help. Basically i'm going nuts buying and returning huawei phones because they all have loads of stuck and hot pixels in their camera sensor. So it all started when i saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2yws0F7jCk&t=0s . I bought 2 used Huawei p40 pro that i returned. I tested them by taking a 30 sec exposure 800 ISO with the phone in a box, complete darkness and this is what i got
Captured on Huawei P40 Pro no color grading and exposure adjustment. There is one regular video (not time-lapse) to fill some space.
All Milkyway timelapses captured with 20 seconds shutterspeed and 800 ISO
And now i bought a brand new huawei p50 pro, did same test and this is the picture. Now this has way less stuck pixels(red and blue) but a lot of white flakes and these are hot pixels from what i understand. My question is , is this normal for a new phone? How do we deal with these stuck/hot pixels in our photos and timelapse videos? Please if you guys know, tell me. I'm going mad
Any help?
With more frames they should get averaged out
Yeah
That's just a quick process without fixing the colour fringing, I can help you create an image like that
How do you get rid of the color fringing ?
There's a setting on Photoshop and Lightroom about it, in the optics section
Hmm, doesn't seem to do anything though
This is my other shot, it was only about a 3 minute exposure
No bearings yet. I duplicated the clutch (to have one on each side, thus avoiding play), changed all the grease, changed all the screws that hold the worm gear.
I have a post in a local group showing the changes. It's in Portuguese, but I think through facebook it translates automatically https://www.facebook.com/groups/1445968775626863/posts/3564803277076725/
Generic 114/900mm
No... I control the cell phone separately from the Phd. But deepskycamera Developer should soon release DSC pro which will communicate with phd to do dither automatically.
Dayummm
Nice
I don't think thats color fringing
Ok
@valid sandal are you using raw btw?
I have hot pixels too
But thats not an issue
This is mine, 30secs, iso 800
no, i am not using raw. all i want is to be able to take a nice timelapse of the milky way. this new phone might be okay
i'll try and get a timelapse tonight with it and see how it goes
why aren't the white flakey hot pixels an issue ?
Because you can't see them
ohh that's gonna be so cool
Most of my photos were taken with this sensor on my old mi9t.
the pics i get with my phone are absolutely dog bro
better than nothing i suppose
bit better
i need to figure out how to get the exposure levels right on a shitty iphone 7
Nice
it looks like it's boiling on the bottom part. but i cant see any stuck pixels or white flakes. looks like the new phone is better
why not get the cooled touptek 585, a tiny bit more expensive than the uncooled uranus c
Thanks, what causes these color fringing ?
Cheap lenses, I believe
Picture with the huawei p50 pro i just bought. Could i improve this image with some calibration shots? I think that whole halo thing in the middle of the picture is noise from the sensor. How can i do it, i didn't try it before
Probably cheap lens on your phonr
what you guys think of my first attempt only using my phone. stacked using sequator.
woah
What phone did you use
The corner looks weird

what corner dude?
i have no idea whats going on with the corner. gnna go out again in couple days and do it again dont think my phone moved tbh. but we shall see
gnna try capture the centre if i can
Say whatr
?
I needed
you needed what?
Youptek
the 585?
Yes
@obsidian fern redone it with more darks and more lights seems better to me now what do you think?
actually, the old one looks better imo
ok ill try less darks and change some things with settings 😄
it's a frame from a timelapse, jpg. could i apply some darks to it somehow?
@obsidian fern what u think im gnna keep trying but best i can do right now.
Single sub. I need to stack it with darks and 30 other lights. And then hdr on the "castle"
But my phone refuses to post the raws on literally anything (tried both wetransfer and google drive. Both just failed at around 30% lol)
when making a timelapse of the milky way with phone should i actually just take lots and lots of 30 sec subs in raw instead of using the timelapse function ?

Jupiter but its an unusually sharp for a single handheld exposure with a 60mm refractor
Honestly not a clue how i managed that most my attempts are usually just a blurry over exposed blob
just take darks?
How exactly do you even take calibration frames on a phone
just place it down on a desk or on a blank white laptop screen?
well, do flats with the phone still in the scope

U so lucky, you have friends that love astro and i have no friends, i mean i have two idiots that only play airsoft😂

better yet, an astro camera
i said planetary camrea like a dumbass
eh uranus-c is good
that just looks like the ep barrel
ah ignore that i didnt realize it was from 20 days ago 😭 idk why i was so far up
what did u use for acquisition and stacking?
the best planetary camera on the market unless you wanna spend a bunch of money
and the best budget DSO camera on themarket
small sensor
more personal preference on if you like it or not
for me I love it with a small refractor
ye
Oh def, I currently have the 224mc for guiding and planetary (sometimes deepsky)
One I’m working on called AstroShader. It aligns and stacks during capture
Depending on the focal length this is a problem. But if you like to photograph galaxies, it's a good option.
This one was taken with Asi290mm on my 114/900mm
The field with the 585 would be much bigger even though its sensor is still small
It was full of walking noise. My friends just let it capture while I took a photo with my cell phone. We didn't even do dark
💀

this is incredible
We did it with my friend's 200mm too. But this one was with the 224mc pro cooled
Woh nice!!
thx, just downloaded it
Hey mate this is the enhanced version of your picture here you are
How shall I send this to you without it loosing quality
upload to drive and share it as a tif so it wont get compressed

lucas man you're gonna put zwo out of buisness
some quick moon pics Ive taken today while doing visual, handheld to the scope and the blurry images really dont do it justice, try to guess my setup that was able to achieve this shitty image 😁
Still better than mine💀
Nothing compares to my old image of moon
My excuse is bad optics, like really bad
This is the untouched version
You can easily see the craters on the surface, it's way better
What do you mean? Abberations? Poor collimation?
Some dumbell

Why dont we lift some astro dumbells?
Hmhmhmm, how much does the dumbell nebula weigh, i think i can squat that
Pretty heavy
Good luck lifting a dumbell 1,4 lightyears across
Oh yeah, i can manage that, i squated orions nebula
I squated the whirpool so i think thats easy
i squated a blackhole so I think I can do that
I benchpressed m81 and m82 with no problem, i think i can manage andromeda too
saturn with iphone 11 and skywatcher 150p
Is it me or ur scope is out of collimation
I smell two uncollimated newtons
Stacking m16 I did last year. 2/8 of total exposure time stacked here
3500 shots of 15s. 15 hours of exposure time
I wanted to do it with the mi12 this year, but I don't think I'll be able to. no time
for taking flats with a phone , do they need to be same exposure time as the lights?
Just cleaned the primary and the secondary, cleaned the focuser and i put new grease. And also recolimated scope
My scope is ready for saturns opposition
No. Just the iso

Hello! This is about to be my first astro-image that I've ever produced. I'm glad to join this channel and journey and progress on my skills from here, along with whoever in here.
Here you have, the moon from tonight: (82% Illumination)
Equipment used: ||Heritage 150P with a 10mm eyepiece (75x magnification) and a base iPhone 12||
Welcome! I look forward to seeing your progress with astrophotography! Nice image btw
Impressive!!!! I captured this with a telescope last night, I believe it was 400X2s using AstroShader

ima see if i can mess with this in pix
your overexposed btw
and shoot in raw, not JPEG
@mint wagon
really cool
gj
Thanks!
I'll keep those in mind 👍🏻
Woah yup, that's indeed far better- thank you!
I really like how you completely removed the chromatic abberation on the smaller craters and mountains on the sides as well and the detail came out a whole lot more-
More obvious with this example ^ although my shot wasn't completely still anyways so it could've been more sharp right?
Yeah i used deconvolution
SCNR: Blue noise removal, Green noise removal
i really juts dimmed with histo, then made a range mask and dimmed glare
Definitely the best picture I’ve ever taken
Not mine
what i see naked eye
except pitch black sky
and the milky way is grey
Well this is in the middle of my country’s capital city
thats crazy
@iron bear dms i got a question
check dms
why not just extract red channel? remove the CA entirely.
It did sum
This happened because the RGB channels on the edge of the moon were misaligned... So it ends up blurring
You can align by registax or astrosurface
8/8 stack. I will process tonight
Guys in this photo the milky way is a bit visible right?
I will when i can
Think I can see it on the right-center part of the image unless I'm imagining things.
Two panel mosaic, each panel is a single 30s sub taken with an iPhone 13 Pro under Bortle 2 Utah skies
Nice picture, I'm also in Utah but in B5-6
Dark sky areas are really close by though
I don’t live there lol (bortle 9 is my home), this was taken on a trip a few months ago
Only just processed it
Oh I see
I wish this were the case for me, the closest b2 is a 2.5 hour drive and b1 is 7 hours away
Oh dang, Utah is a really nice place for astrophotography
B1 is 1 hour and 20 minutes away
Somewhere in the desert
I think imaging from the salt flats would be really cool
That’s very nice

Any recommendations?
I'm just a beginner
Can you share the data so I can tell you what would be good for your situation
What data?
The images I took?
It's jpg btw
yes
it should work
I did a background extraction and color calibration in Siril, stretch in Photoshop and denoised it using Topaz Denoise AI. Remember to shoot in RAW next time. The limitations of .jpg are visible in this image.
stack with DSS
does anyone know any good third party cam like gcam??
or should i just use stock camera app
astroshader
Blue moon taken on iPhone 14 pro max using a Celestron telescope and phone adapter
how do i reduce soft tone in samsung?
its really good! but if your new to astrophotography like me you should first try taking image of half moon since it creates a 3d effect
hey you know sliders have other options than max?? also AI??
i gotta admit its better than mine
did he took that image on phone
?
ye its phone astrophotography
samsung a73
ok image to begin but processing is garish
whose?
why would you do a background extraction? youve got a conbination of foreground and background which a multi scale gradients which screws up the image
and what did you stack in?
while DSS has a better stacking algorithm than sequator, for this photo, it would be better to stack in sequator as DSS doesnt stack wel with foreground. its not meant for it, while sequator was pretty much made for it
i did some lite editing for practice, i hope you dont mind
but why is it compressed?
Background extraction works on my images and that blue color came from the color calibration
It doesn't work for photos thag have landscape
It was made to clear gradients when the whole image is the sky
I haven't taken images for the foreground
First ever image / viewing of Saturn!
Nice!
I couldn't get Saturn's moons 😦
Any suggestions on how to get better photos of Saturn? (Equipment in bio)
try increasing exposure
and are you stacking videos of saturn?
No it was just a photo, I don't have a tracking scope so it would be jumpy to video
Dng?
it's fine if it's wobbly
you can record short videos without much wobble, will be so much better than a single photo
Ok, I'll try video tonight
Question, can my telescope fit one of those camera mount attachments? Meaning the ones that make physical cameras attach to the scope?
Oh, that's just the file that was on my phone...
I believe it is because it's a raw photo
do you have a barlow to use? seems that the individual pixels are too large to capture much detail at this zoom level
also use raw if available, much better
Check the file I sent earlier, it's raw
I don't, but it is something I'd be interested in eventually, I shoot that photo with my 5mm eye piece instead of using a 10mm or 25mm
what phone are you using?

It's too far north. I can't take a picture from where I am... But I still intend to do it when I'm on the contryside
nice
Dayum
i dont think you guys know how impressive this picture really is, look at the background
they are from just a random star field I captured with my Iphone
I do know xD Bro it's a phone like damn
His phone is literally an astro-cam
What phone do you have
I can now take a much better picture than this one. All I need is time and clear nights in contryside... With a frame of 60s on my new mi12 it would have caught all the background IFN
I just program the amount of frames, exposure time and iso and let the phone take a picture with DSC.... At this time i used the astrocam. But now im using DeppSkycamera
I found a frame that I had made in 2022. It's only 12s iso 1600
Dang bro you're a great phone imager
100%
hey guys, i have a skywatcher heritage 150p telescope. For shooting the planets with a phone do you think a high power eyepiece, like 3 mm, is better than a 10mm EP with a 3x barlow?
No
dust cap on, same exposure
was that to my question? why no?
Yes
The magnification is gonna be almost the same
well yes but i am thinking it's less glass elements so less aberrations. and if it's a high quality EP maybe the fov is wider. idk, i am new at this
You barely get any abberation from eyepieces afaik, thats what i remember what someone said to me, i think.
I don't know about the FOV, which is better wider or narrower
Maybe the 3mm is a better choice
I think an 80€ one should be good enough
20mm eye relief
I got a question, there’s gonna be an Iss moon transit near my house and I’m wondering if i would be able to capture it with an iPhone and a 102mm refractor?
Just a phone no
I’ve tried doing live pictures and I’ve had pretty good luck with things like birds, I just don’t know if I’d be able to see the ISS
I mean you can try, doesn't hurt right. I think you'll get atleast something
I haven't had any experience but as far as i know it's not THAT small
It’s a .59 second transit so I don’t know how many frames I would see it for
wasnt even trying to get a plane, but pretty cool
i'm still waiting to catch my first plane lunar transit. i mean i saw multiple but was not recording
this is really cool
ikr, it’s cut off in the video but i had a very verbal reaction
i would imagine lmao
its about the size of venus at max bit larger
Huuuuuuh
What you said about less glass is techinically true but you're most likely not going to notice any difference whatsoever, but still, a 3mm eyepiece is of really low focal length and is probably not going to get used that often, just adding a 3x barlow to your collection is going to be much better since you're essentially doubling your eyepiece collection + it's more handy than the 3mm in most occasions, and since they serve about the same magnification anyway, I suggest you get an extra barlow instead of an extra eyepiece.
That is true aswell
i do have a 3x barlow but i find it hard to use because it extends out of the already shoddy helical focuser quite a bit, and i have to unscrew the focuser a lot to reach focus, to the point it hangs on to a couple of threads. and then i clamp the big nexyz adapter to the whole thing. it is what it is i guess, i'm trying to do astrophotography with a phone through a visual telescope
Eeeh yeah I'm not sure if the Nex YZ performs well even by itself on a focuser such as the Heritage 150p's helical one.. a 3mm ep is not such a bad idea then I guess.. but will you be able to find a good quality one at a reasonable price.. or even find one at all?
iphone 8
I‘m so grateful to not image with a phone anymore🙏🙏🙏

anyone know what i can do to get the most out of my iphone13 standard edition not the max or anything only has 3x zoom can get 6x with an app but anyone know if there are any apps where i can process maybe try image stacking just anything i can use to get better images with it
or any mods i can put on my phone physically like a lens or something idk im new to this
do widefeild astro
You can use binoculars
Which is what i did
thats hard
I’m working on an iPhone app called AstroShader that does live stacking. e.g. aligns and stacks the images giving you a single final image.
It’s available in public beta on the App Store and I’m still rolling out changes as feedback/ideas/bugs get reported
that’s sounds awesome!
Still under development so a little glitchy, but getting there. It’s free too
im going to try it out tonight
That’s really cool, I’m gonna try it out tonight if the clouds clear up
I've lost count of how long I've been waiting to get a shot like this, and you get it by accident
i’m realizing how lucky i got now
On video too, while looking in the perfect area
It's not one in a million, but it's pretty damn lucky
Most of the time I just see birds fly in front, but a plane is something else
It’s on a whole new level
i live like three towns away from a small airport
the settings are a bit confusing any guidance on them
ive never heard of this is it on pc or phone
or is it like a technique
It's taking a wide shot of the sky
