for me, my kins were ways of expressing emotions that i hadnt learned how to explain or describe due to my disabilities. for some of my friends, it was escapism from real life horrors they were having to deal with. for others, they simply found delight in imagining themselves in these worlds, and best did it thru canons over OCs. etc. everyone has their own reasons for it. but its definitely a deeper connection than just a surface-level relate.
