yi is a very feast or famine kind of champion so he thrives off getting ahead early and pushing said lead.

but if he is screwed in the early game, it is very hard for him to do much unless he decided to play like an assassin and kill the surviving enemies after team fights are done

there is like a triangle for supports countering supports

enchanters/healers beat poke supports (senna, ziggs, brand, lux, seraphine)
poke supports beat tank supports
tank supports beat enchanters/healers

but if ur good enough at the champ, u can basically be at least neutral at the match up

poke supports are champs who are played in other lanes but due to the fact they have some type of support capability like shielding/healing/cc they are sometimes used in support.

enchanters/healers are champs whose playstyle focuses on helping their teammates with healing/buffs/shields/cc and cant do alot of dmg late game unless they go full dmg.

tank supports are just tanky. they also usually have some kind of engaging tool like hooks and aoe cc along with some kind of skill that provides them with more survivability like buffs to their defense, shields or minor forms of healing
