He's done some bad shit because he was asked to by his superiors, but he does still have a moral compass

He appreciates and is kind to many people, he supports his family endlessly, he knows when is or isn't a good time to fight (and judging by the fontaine AQ, does so legally when he can- i.e. sent an invitation to spar with one of Fontaine's master duelists), he has so many things that make him a green flag but then he works for the fatui and is made to do some terrible stuff for them so he's basically been the poster child(e) for morally grey characters in genshin

So it's really up to you whether you see him as a bad guy or not

Because on the flip side of all those good things, we did also witness him attempt to flood/destroy liyue harbor via unleashing Osial just so he could get Zhongli's gnosis, he's probably kicked the ass of/killed several people (I'm hazy on this one, sorry 😭)

But I personally feel like he's more good than bad, since he tends to know when to stop, asks for consent with things, and is generally very likeable to others (making lots of friends, like with xinyan or the traveler)

His biggest bad was nearly destroying the harbor but that was also part of the fatui's contract with zhongli for his gnosis, so even that wasn't necessarily his idea anyway

Caterpillar, a child with black arms has "mystical abyssal powers" that can grant you anything you want with a cost (like the painter of that world quest)
Neo-humans are known for having black arms and having a relationship with Elynas's flesh and blood to grant them powers beyond "normal humans"

Here's a theory i have

1. Lyney hears someone's voice in the Oratrice, i claim that its Furina.
2. I think around the cataclysm (not sure about the time), furina must've split her body/soul into 2, one of which we see and the other part is deeply and forever linked somehow to the oratrice and also holds most of the power which is being used for the oratrice, and this is the furina we hear at the fountain of lucine, crying about how lonely she feels and saying when will all this end. Hence why the furina we see acts so weak and scared, because she literally is and its not her fault.
3. The voice in the 4.1 trailer at the end, saying "You will see much in the human world" is definitely of a past time & is either A- the lonely furina talking to the furina we know, when she was about to execute whatever plan she had or B - lonely furina talking to neuvillette. In any case, it is the furina who is locked with the oratrice.
4. As for why furina had to do that, I'm afraid i don't have much explanation, but i just feel this.
