Nothing "wrong" persay with JC Staff, I just feel like their shows tend to not really "try" I guess? Like, it feels like they set out to just get "something" down, and don't really try and do anything past it.

Other studios have the occasional "Oh wow, this is surprisingly good" show from time to time, but JC Staff to me is the "That was alright, I guess" studio HuTaoShrug

Manga/LN put off a lot of the reveals until the climax of the first or second arc, but anime just dropped completely unsubtle "hints" about the reveals as early as ep 2 or 3

All in all, an "average" adaption of a story with a unique premise/worldbuilding. I like the LN, think the Manga is alright (albeit with an art style I don't care for), and the anime is "passable"

So the thing with this series is I feel that nothing it does is just powerful enough to stand out for me. The things I did enjoy from it, I feel like I could have also gotten from other works where the drama and romance are stronger. And the research scenario has some interesting aspects to it, but how it's handled overall isn't too compelling for me.

I do enjoy a fair share of little moments throughout, most of which I screenshotted here; the one I didn't end up screenshotting was the moment involving the MC's message to his siblings, which was a fun way of doing that in a nerd way. And some of the moments between the girls are nice friendship moments
