Imo, the biggest issue with S2 of shield hero (tho really it started with the islands arc at the end of S1) is that it's just a fundamentally different show/premise than what people got into Shield Hero for.
Like, not in the tone shift/emphasis shift that Mushoku Tensei did, but a shift on a fundamental level.
Folks got interested in Shield Hero as a gritty tale of a guy betrayed slowly but surely regaining the trust of others and regaining his own trust for others, with a fantasy setting laid on top of that. That core is pretty much gone by the end of S1.
S1 was very much carried by its gimmick, but it didn't even have that to work with anymore by S2

Personally, the bits I liked were Albedo (her character gets pretty complex later on) and the chapters focused on the non-guild characters. Ainz and crew are pretty consistently OP, so seeing how the others folks tried their best to react to that was great
