A fan service series? Depends on how "good" is being defined, but also not what I was trying to say.

I was trying to say that a show can have fan service in it and still have a good story/be story-focused overall. I'd argue Dress Up Darling did this very well, but the same can also be said for shows like Monogatari, Mushoku Tensei and Saekano imo.

Not trying to argue about "fan service series" (ones where the entire show is a fan service trip like dxd )

Honestly, the quote itself wasn't so much the concern as much as none of the core staff seemingly having any familiarity with the series prior to 343's five day bootcamp

Like Schreiber, Bathurst had never played the game before he landed the job to direct the pilot, and at first glance, he was at a loss for how to translate a video game that puts players inside the perspective of Master Chief as he and his fellow Spartan soldiers mow down hordes of alien warriors.

My thoughts are... mixed...

Overall, still a very good show and a very good season.
But the last three episodes felt really "sloppy", if I were to put a word to it.

Especially the last one.

I kinda felt that aswell. It's kinda like they tried to add way too much to top the hype of the previous fights and it all kinda got jumbled together.

It also felt like they cut a good two or three minutes worth of transition scenes

Like, it would just jump from one bit to the next without any visual transition between them

Worst example probably being ||going from the Shadow eating her to Pecorine chained up in one cut||

It missed a lot of the "flow" the fights earlier in the season had

My personal worst was there being no communication between Kokoro and Yuuki about the plan or the fact that she ||had his key||

Yeah... I think with maybe another 4 or 5 minutes worth of context scenes and transition bits, it would have been a solid ending, but as is, that was just "sloppy".

Also, can't believe ||they just left Kiiri's concious drifting in limbo without so much as a flashback or name drop ||

• Main anime series ends with big reveal of X
• Prequel spinoff assumes fans have already learned X, mentions it with no buildup or suspense.

Watching chronologically, the reveal is uneventful, while watching it in release order, the reveal is properly hyped.

(Star Wars is a perfect example of this. Vader being Luke's father is obvious if you watch 1-3 first, but a shocking reveal if you start at 4-6, then the prequels)

I've finish watching 86 part 1 and part 2, in my opinion 86 part 1 is pretty popular for quite a while, On the other hand the second part is pretty underate as far I've known . Based on the CGI, I can say, this is pretty good work on character detail, environments, military transportation.. Etc. Based on the plot, I want to assure you, there was a ton of emotion, character, and other things to move your heart in 86, and they all made this show a fantastic watch especially in the part 2 which is pretty beautiful and excitement to watch. Here are the 2 main advice that I've learn from 86 ( there're more but I don't remember it all) :

1. You're a part of the crew: this might contain spoiler || remember the times when Nozen abandon his friends in the safe area in order to fight with his brother, however his friends follow him and fight along sides with him until very end even it cost their life. ||
2. The process goes well, but if you have a good plan or good strategy: Both Lena, Nozen and others people in crew, always come with ideas or strategy before doing something, with great plans, the process will go smoothly and stable. Overall "86" or "Eighty six"is a new breathtaking anime, the name of that anime might sound weird but the plot was totally great that I've seen so far after Evangelion. 9.5/10
