anything from Watanabe, Baccano, Black Lagoon, Rurouni Kenshin and Redline were some I’ve seen that got good english voice acting

Hell even OPM and Mob Psycho ain’t bad and if anything pretty good

There’s honestly a lot to where dub should get more credit, but I’m still team sub all the way because it’s as pure as the intention of one’s writing can get for anime

only times I do dub is for background noise/multi-tasking (which is what a lot of ppl do) and if it negs sub by a landslide (cowboy bebop best example)

dub almost never works because western speakers reading japanese written lines sounds weird unless you go full 4kids rewrite

eh, dub tends to rewrite anything that can't be translated directly from Japanese lines

the difference now is on either how well the team translate it and how well the dubber executes the lines

unless some Japanese lines were totally based on Japanese only (region locked) jokes/puns, the rest aren't that complicated

many EN dubs fall to the bad category bc they're either failing on translate (and localize) the lines, the VAs do their job badly, or both

so I think almost never works is an overstatement

hell Akira is like the biggest influence for anime today, if it wasn’t for it then we wouldn’t have the anime we have today

it even influenced more revolutionary works like Ghost In The Shell, and even that one is a pretty revolutionary work for its time and I doubt any newer anime that tries to replicate it would fail

To be fair I was sorta like this before, I’d prefer newer anime over older anime one time
