Yeah, the robot grandpa one (Inuyashiki)
I remember it being pretty good
think it went a bit under the radar/underappreciated cause of the CGI tho
that generally do be how it goes
i
what anime is this
demon girl next door

The problem with ditf is it really good 02 is pog visuals are good the story is also good just they fked the ending soo badly that you can't even believe it how tf they were able to achieve it
Has anyone completed grand blue?
Sounds like domekano

yeah i get u
tysm
short hair Horikita
Miyukichi ❤️
Im surprised she's voicing her 😭💜
coming soon yes
what ?
I'm at peace 🥺
does anyone recommend blue period ? I believe it has a manga
dude, i'm fucking dying
yo im literally about to ball my eyes out ||Draken just died and he's literally been my favorite character since I started TR I cant do this shit anymore 😭 || Tokyo Revengers ch 223
They should've stopped after Tenjiku arc bruh
Takebitchy ||wants to save Mikey now?? foh Draken got clapped and he's also my fav too||
^ ch 223 spoilers too
||I didnt like the random guy who came in like "Yes I am your secret long lost brother who hates you!" There was barely any foreshadowing for him and it felt like he was just written in existance and got a full backstory that should've been at least a little foreshadowed earlier on in the series if he was gonna be such a big villain. It did feel like the author was winging a few parts and I do agree he should have left some stuff out||
Yeah it would've been nice if they developed that early on
like at least give some info during Black Dragons arc
In defense of Takeshitty, he wanted to save everyone and that includes Mikey ig too. Id be satisfied with an ending where Takemitchy sacrifices himself to have ALL of them, including Mikey, to get the good ending.
frrrr
It's funny because if he wants to save everyone ||he kinda failed assuming Draken dies|| LMAO
They might do an asspull ||for Draken|| ngl, but if they actually kept it true then I got no words
It'd be interesting
FR LMAO thats why he has gotta sacrifice himself. It also feels like this "Wow I can see into the future now too!" was a major dues ex machina
Yeah they only hinted on that ability during the ||Kisaki chase|| in the Tenjiku arc
||considering we got like a full chapter of flashback and "Im on my way Emma" it doesn't seem like they're just gonna pull an asspull. As much as I want Draken to live, it'd be bad writing for him to just come back||
still feels like a huge deus ex machina I 100% agree
true true, recently just started reading again to get caught up so I forgot a bit
yeah it'd be for the best
TR has always felt like its been milking things tbh
It had good peaks but it's pretty formulaic
my thoughts exactly
Nani?
a five second google of "sleepy princess in demon castle season 2 release date" says that they havent even announced production of a second season, so I'm gonna say no...
LMFAO I asked my friends if I can skip Gintama episodes
can't believe Baal turned into a demon smh

ブルーピリオド \ Blue Period Opening Song
TV-size EP1 Blue Period OP "EVERBLUE" / Omoinotake
#BluePeriod #ブルーピリオド #EVERBLUE #Opening
Lets fucking go Omoinotake
I only got qualms for the production, but other than that Blue Period is worth picking up
Pretty good imo
More enjoyable than s1
imo better than s4 lol
also when jjk s2
Agreed
S4 > S5 > the rest
s4 had me extremely hyped lmao
Natsume Yuujinchou is something that always gets thrown out there like Gintama so I’m gonna give it a try casually
is it possible for someone to get a blue period
Its from Kyoukai no Kanata.
Komi san season 2 when?
Confirmed to be in production, but no release date announced

Thursday next week to be exact (Oct 7)
Personally found S4 to be 3ish 8/10 episodes and 21ish 4/10 episodes. Havent finished S5 yet, but wouldnt have it near the top personally, since it felt like a bit of a slog to get through most of the season to actually get to the "hype" parts
S2's my personal favorite tho. Felt like it had the best actual character development and emotional scenes to it
and the animation for that season was just
oof
were they good ones at least?
legit dont even remember that lol
Bones need to stop doing movies for MHA
Seems like they've been cucking the potential its later seasons it holds
I dont remember the movies being all that bad, just weakened by their lack of canon impact.
The movies aren't bad yeah
But you notice the comparison between the later seasons (aka S4 and S5) to the older seasons right?
well yeh, but that's been a consistent trend since early S3 imo
Yeah, I'd like to think it's because Bones used their budget that could've been on their later seasons but on the movies instead
interesting theory. Not sure if thats the case tho, since I would think those would be separate budgets vs a fixed shared pool.
Imo, they seem to be rushing out production of these (putting out two cour seasons every year for the past 5ish years), and just really unequally distributing the season budget (they seem to have the budget/time for better quality, but decide to condense it into one or two episodes vs generally improving the overall season)
that actually seems to make more sense yeah
Yehhh, were you here the other day when I was talking about them blowing the animation budget on a stupid training episode?
Yeah I saw wtf
I haven't been watching a lot of mha myself but like
they could've used that budget on the actual fights later seasons
I heard that one Mirio fight in S4 was the most anticipated in the manga only for the anime to deliver it in a lackluster fashion
but honestly from what I've seen, the other fights aren't that bad and they still seem pretty baller (obviously doesn't compare to that training episode lool)
Yeah, its a shame, since the VAing for that was perfect for the scene, but the animation was pretty lackluster
Mirio and Overhaul's VAs carried the scene, so it was still fairly decent, but yeh. Deku vs Overhaul showed where the real animation budget went lol

Anyone here has any sad romance anime recommendations??
Something like hotarubi?
I have never watched that
I want to eat your pancreas
A silent voice
Mainstream : anohana, a few of Makoto shinkai and key animation works
Romace as sub genre : your lie April, guilty crown, corpse party (I forget which one), ousama game.
Been watched it
Watched

Is dororo sad? I only remember first heroine
Your lie in April overrated
Is corpse party even like that? I heard that it was horror lmao
Yeah horror, but the end quite has a little bit of romance (if I remember correctly)
Jebaited to watch horror
Which one is first
The single episode or the 4 ovas
Sorry I don't remember, I only remember the ending
Mkay
Plastic memories is sad ig
Idk why for romance animes i spoil myself around the climax and if the ending isnt preferrable i stop watching

Clannad
Romance as main or one of the main genres:
Love, Chuunibyou, and other Delusions
Oh Maidens in your Savage Seasons
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
A Lull in the Sea
Romance as a sub-genre:
Beyond the Boundary
Note: while these have "sad" parts, I havent really watched any with "sad" endings. So I'm sorry if that's more what you're looking for 😅
Eh
I watched like 8 episodes of it and forgot about it💀
I already watched bunny girl senpai, it was somewhat disappointing
I call it a poor Haruhi/Monogatari
🍿
Everyone else here calls it "best show ever"
Oh god no
I watched it for the romance not for the science
Didn't even know it was about science as well
When it comes to science
Dr Stone negs
I thought aobuta’s neat first time around but yeah as you watch more anime it doesn’t compare to a lot
I do get what you mean, it is extremely boring while watching it.
But for me it was just finishing it and looking back at the anime and just wow, this was great
I agree Bunny girl is kinda overrated but I do like the show
It's not about science tho? 😅 One of the characters uses quantum ideas as analogies for what happens in two of the arcs, but its not really "about" science at all
All of Clannad was difficult to watch and it honestly took 2/3 of After Story for it to get "good"
Some folks say you gotta watch Clannad, but honestly you should just watch as much as you can stomach and go into After Story
For next season... I really only care about Tact Ops, the rest I might give a 1 episode try.
I think there's some good back log anime I wanna work on
I'm only 4 episodes away from finishing San gatsu season 2
I keep finding gems that I wanna add to my immediate backlog so I probably won't take a hiatus like originally planned
Mushoku Tensei S2 tho 👀
(also, saw the leaked bit of Komi ep 1. Anime's lookin pretty af

Does someone read battle game in 5 seconds here?
What chapter akira confessed to yuuri
Guys, can we aknowledge the fact that Ilulu canonically uses Band-aids over her nipples?
nah I only watched it
anime was so ass especially with the animation but the crackhead creativity it packs into the fights made it worthwhile
I too am curious what chapter that was if it actually happened cuz honestly tho Akira x Yuuri moments were kinda cute ngl
Was actually planning on starting that anime now that it finished airing lol, the premise seemed interesting enough for a one-off viewing
I'm not gonna lie, even if I do say it was ass I actually did enjoy it lmao
cuz like the abilities are just stupid yet hilariously creative as it tries to defy bits of logic to make the fights work
sounds about like the vibe I expected it to have from the premise lol
Guess I'll be giving it a shot 👀
(finished dragonmaid s yesterday. That one honestly carried the season for me)
KyoAni has absolutely no chill when it comes to SoL
ehhh, I feel like tensura kinda half-assed too much to be aots
Dragonmaid was pretty consistent in its quality
Yeah I was just thinking cuz everyone's still raving it
Like I can def tell it don't look top notch
in comparison to lets say first season
As a fan of the overall series, was pretty disappointed tbh 😅
First half of S2 suffered from a ton of cut content, changed scenes, and overall half-assed animation.
Second half had major pacing issues, tho tbh thats partly the fault of the arc they're covering (half of the second half was just meeting talk)
ik two others who didn't like S2 a lot as well and they're anime onlies
so quite to hear
yeah I heard some of the episodes are pulling mad budget
honestly gives me a ton of hope for KyoAni going forward. They've done a hell of a job training the new gen
nice to hear them back and packin
Even the smaller stuff was so nice. A ton of subtle stuff too
Like in the firework festival, they went out of their way to fake-simulate a traditional nighttime camera lens, with just a bit of grain and a similar sort of focus and light glow/flaring.
Yeah, apparently they've been letting the new gen get the hang of things by assigning them to short animated commercials, which honestly seem a little too good for TV imo lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp3vtjlz07Q

And I've seen this too, pretty good!
The biggest budget was definitely the Ep 9 fight. Like, ya don't need to watch the full thing, but just the bit from 0:44-1:36 is just... my god Kyo. At least give other studios a chance to come close

damnn that's fire
Yeh, and just keep that in mind when I say
Dragonmaid was pretty consistent in its quality
Even the reddit threads agreed lol
Yeah im curious on this part. I just saw some fb spoiler peeps commenting that akira confessed so im curious. Currently reading the manga and im way too far on the latest
Im at 72/150+ chapters
YO TRUE
consistent quality = consistent ratings
yee, tbh, every episode kinda slapped in its own way
Probably gonna end up with Vivy and Odd Taxi in my "cant stop talking about it" category lol
My only complaint about Dragon Maid is that we didnt had enough Ilulu x Take scenes
Thats why im reading the manga now
tru
tho the bits we had were surprisingly effective at building them up lol
They just have really good chemistry
honestly, wasn't expecting my favorite characters this season to be her and Elma
They got a ton of development/fleshing out for their characters
Yeah, Ilulu probably came my favorite dragon after this season
But ngl, i was kinda impressed on how NSFW the manga is
KyoAni has a way of completely transforming the source material. Its always a bit of a shock comparing the two (not saying its in a bad way, just a "oh damn, that's way different than I expected based on the anime"
And not just that
Its kinda incredible how beautiful the anime is compared to the style of the manga
Tho, its one of the earlier chapters, so its much different now
But I also love the fact the Ilulu using Band-aids on her nipples is canon
I mean, this is the same studio that took this
and spent literal months rotoscoping one of the best music scenes in anime history out of it https://youtu.be/WWB01IuMvzA

any genre preference?
romcom, slice of life maybe idk
Hm, seen Interviews with Monster Girls? A personal favorite of mine for Slice of Life

Personal favorite of mine. Hope ya like it :D
Satou and Hikari are tied for my favorites from it
(Hikari gives me Hu Tao vibes lol)
Have you guys seen blue period? This anime looks promising af
Is that another anime that has ballroom e youkoso or runway de waratte vibes?
I've heard good things about the manga, havent seen anything about the anime tho
This anime is very passionate about the process of making art, almost infectiously so, while still retaining a lot of the reality that comes with it. At least, that's what the first episode led me to believe, i hope they'll keep going with that enthusiasm
I might drop it cuz I can't with the animation
Sure it doesn't matter a lot but for such a highly acclaimed source material tho
That's like the only thing I have to highly nit pick and dropping is a huge last resort (and I'll just continue thru the manga)
Does someone recognize the name Güliedistodiez?
I think Jake should, I gave it a search and it's from spider isekai
One of the greatest animes of this universe (and the others universes too).

i'd say it's on par
I watched it like a week ago it is pretty good compare to some trash like sao
This trash is getting a second season?
not even close
this is more accurate
how can u recommend something that isn't released yet tho
it is released
ive been trying to find this one anime i know the gist of the anime but i cant remember the name
the anime is about a website where if u put someones name in it theyll die
and it makes connections to like a red string and stuff and the people that get killed are brought to hell on a boat
a quick search says its hell girl
Each episode typically follows the format of a self-contained short story where a person has been suffering torment from an acquaintance to the point that he or she accesses the Hell Correspondence website and submits a request to get rid of the person.
there, first sentence in the plot
definitely sounds like hell girl
thank you for reminding me of it! i haven't watched it in years
I personally found it pretty enjoyable... up until the main conflict got resolved (||lying princess getting put in her place||)
After that... the plot kinda goes off the deep end imo lol
like, S1 just barely started the post-main conflict bit in its second half, but it gets weird, and not really in a good way. More of a "the author doesnt really seem to know where they're going anymore and is just winging it" kind of way
First part is pretty solid tho. Animation's surprisingly good, and Raphtalia's a great character
The idea came from a meme.
Raphtalia is not a kid anymore! (fan animation)
Anime: Tate No Yuusha No Nariagari (The Rising of the Shield Hero)
yee, all 9 episodes are out. They're pretty good (tho as expected from 6 studios working on them, the quality varies a lot from episode to episode)
Trigger's feels like a straight-up parody for example lol
9 unconnected shorts, yeah.
I mean, ya can. Personally found it a bit cheesy, but its SFW
- didn't like spirited away either *

Follo...
do you want the long version or the short version?
And Ryo Supercell
Yup
Ohh is it like HxH 2011 version vs the 1999 version?
TL;DR from the video: There's essentially three or so good series to start with, but each one of them spoils major plot points from the other two, so there's not really an "order" to them that gets around that
here's the flowchart from the fate subreddit that tries to give an "order" to do things lol
(right column is anime only, left sideis if you're willing to do the Visual Novel first)
Ummm wtf 😂
...the video I linked is actually a surprisingly thorough, albeit entertaining, summary of the clusterfuck lol
TL;DR:
Fate/Zero or Unlimited Blade Works first, then whichever of the two you didnt pick after that.
After those two, the Heavens Feel movie trilogy.
UBW and Fate/Zero will spoil each other and a bit of heavens feel tho, so its a bit of "choose your poison" for which to start with lol
this is why sane authors only adapt one route from a VN
Ohh thank you very much my guy 🙌🍻
funny enough, not even a Fate fan lol
I just find the shitshow of a timeline entertaining
Yea like for an outsider like myself trying watch it after seeing this I rather just not 😂
Wow that's more complicated than monogatari series
They make it complicated than it actually is
Just watch Fate/Zero -> Unlimited Blade Works (TV) -> Heavens's Feel Trilogy, this completes the main/original series.
If you want you can follow the visual novel order. Its also a valid option
After that you can watch any spinoff of your choice, all of them are canon and some add a lot to the overall Fate verse
Pretty much the same summary, but thats pretty much it yeh. tho some people will disagree about Fate/Zero vs UBW first (personally didnt like both, but some people have preferences)
Both approaches are perfectly acceptable
Its just a matter of preference as you said
You just gotta accept that there isnt an order that doesnt spoil something in another lol
Yeah and thats a concept which is hard to grasp for some newcomers
At least from my understanding tho, most VN adaptions usually only do one route, which solves the issue a bit
Translating visual novel routes which expand on the previous iteration is incredibly difficult to convey in anime format
Yeah and that works for them since they aren't structured like Fate/stay night
FSN expands on itself with every route. Hence all 3 are needed to understand the whole picture
^see the earlier comment lol
Its not about authors though
Author don't have control over what gets put into an anime adaptation
And adapting one route would be worst way to deal with FSN
Actually, just found out about it the other day from Oshi no Ko, but they have a ton of control over it 👀 Any changes to the work need the author's explicit approval for any changes to the content of their work. The adaption needs their explicit permission to work
since they sum it up best:
I think you misunderstood
FSN is a VN written by Ninoko Nasu. As i have said before its structured differently than your normal VNs like Steins;Gate. Since FSN expands upon itself with each route, you can't just adapt Heaven's Feel which the third and final route of the VN and leave it at that. Since it assumes you have read through the first two routes which are Fate and Unlimited Blade Works
this is why sane authors only adapt one route from a VN
So this really doesn't fit for something like FSN
Manga authors and visual novel authors are very different in general
I tend to stay away from comparisons
Didn't say they were (manga and VN authors). The copyright law is shared for any copyrighted work in Japan tho (its a constitutional thing. looked it up after I read that chapter)
the entire reason why a "watch order" exists because there's an intended method of experiencing it
Copyright of mangas and anime IPs are vastly different. This is already way way off topic anyway
Simply my point is, adapting one route solves nothing, only creates more problems .
And FSN itself is a very small part of the Nasuverse
From what I've seen over the years, people have found a pretty agreed upon way for anime only people to get into the series, which is great.
The franchise could use some people demystifying it. Because its not as complicated as the memes make it out to be
There's a read order for the Visual novels, but from my understanding, the issue when it transitions into anime becomes one where the "intended order" experience isn't necessarily the most enjoyable one (due to the generally considered "shit"/lackluster Fate route adaption).
And when people are trying to be selective with their time (hence why they don't "just go read the visual novel" as most of the guides recommend to start with), the challenge then becomes determining whether spoiling the conclusion from UBW or having the suspense cut from Zero is the greater compromise to make from an "enjoyment" perspective. Both animes were made (as most non-direct sequels (S2, S3, etc) are) to be fairly self-sufficient, so its not like you're going to be lost if you change the watch order.
Most of the "memes" I see generally boil down to "pick your poison, then laugh at the sheer number of canon spin-offs".
Once people get past the FSN bit, its generally pretty clear what order to watch things (or where order doesn't matter, like the cooking spinoff lol)
Yeah people think way too much about it
As far as good Fate anime adaptations go. So far there are only two
Fate/Zero and Fate/Grand Order Babylonia
The others range from being alright to just bad
the 06 one gets memed to hell lol
FSN 2006 is surprisingly not that awful given you don't watch it first
Studio Deen really messed up trying to create a mix of all three routes in one anime. It was never going to work
It tried staying close to Fate route but randomly introduced elements from UBW and HF
Unless someone really really likes Artoria i tell them to just skip it and read the VN in the future if they have the time.
But if they are a completionist well then i hope they can get a good laugh out of it
this is a bit closer to what I meant by the earlier statement btw 😅
Not that all three shouldnt be adapted if they want to tell the story, but that they should either stick to strictly those routes as they were told, or dont half-ass it by kinda sticking to it and kinda not, and commit to some combination of the three as an anime-only route.
(the latter is asking for trouble, but still better than only half-committing to it)
Well we aren't arguing here
Enough about FSN talks tbh. Im glad that FGO has been getting more attention recently
Its pretty much the premier Fate series which is currently active
FGO seems like a bottomless Abyss to a non-Fate fan like myself 😅
Understandably so
But finding a gacha game which uses its reach to present an actually gripping and well written narrative is rare asf
People suffer from the gacha but still play because of the story. Wild
The most recent story chapter release was longer than the entire Steins;Gate visual novel
Written by Nasu himself
the glory of text + static png story expansions lol
Author can pretty much just write a book and slap it into the game as a story expansion.
And the storage space taken up is miniscule
so the amount of story that can be crammed in gets exponentially bigger
Yeah its pretty much a linear VN attached to a turn based rpg game
I expect FGO Camelot 2 to join this list. The movie looks incredible and the staff working on it is top tier
Can def respect the animation team 👀 was pretty much what got me through the ones I watched
I haven't heard how Solomon was received in Japan but given its by the exact same staff which produced Babylonia i have my hopes up
just hope their budget didnt all go to Takt Op lol
that anime looks like its getting some Fate-level animation budget
CloverWorks with Babylonia managed to not only deliver great animation given their team of young animators but did so by not sacrificing the story. Something which unfortunately can't be said about the FSN animes
wait, shit, think im mixing up studios
Takt Op is my Mappa and Madhouse iirc
yeeeee... Fate is ufotable iirc
think Im mixing them up
Can't blame me, its def got a Fate feel to its animation style
FGO Babylonia and Solomon by CloverWorks
FGO Camelot is by Production IG
FSN and Fate Zero is by ufotable
Fate animes had a myriad of different studios who all have all presented a different style
It can be easy to lose track of who made what
CloverWorks' recent non FGO shows have been....yikes
WEP and TPN s2

went and double checked. Studio Deen did the 06 one, in what I suppose is their usual case of "coin flip quality" for their anime adaptions 👀
Yeah Deen made FSN 2006 which is supposed adapt the Fate route from the VN but we all know how that went
Its also called Deen/stay night by people
yee, from my limited exposure to them, their quality flip flops a lot between shows (hence the coin flip analogy)
Animation for the most part across the series ranges from being decent to absolutely stunning
The lowest point for the series would be some of the earlier Fate/kaleid seasons and low profile spinoffs like Case Files of Lord El Melloi II.
The latter can be forgiven since action isn't really the main focus of that show
Never heard of the latter one, but I would have thought Seven Deadly Sins S3 would have ended up any "lowest point" list for them lol
Oh when i was speaking of "lowest point" i was talking about the Fate series not Studio Deen specifically
ah, the case files thing is a fate spinoff?
And yeah SDS s3 is....
there's so many its hard to tell anymore
You remember Waver Velvet?
The master of Iskandar from Fate Zero
had to google cause I remember no names lol
Thats alright
I just remember him as "the whiny kid"
Case Files basically follows the life of Waver after the Fifth Holy Grail war (the war which happens in Fate/stay night)
Waver actually had a cameo in UBW anime
terrifying
This is that whiny kid now
I can just feel the edge

Waver and Iskandar were the favourite pair for a lot of people, this spinoff serves as a nice sendoff to their relationship and expands upon Waver as a person
Iskandar was nice, but at least in Zero, that "pair" was just Iskandar babysitting the brat lol
Also he's gown up to be calm and articulate. A far cry from what he used to be when he was young.
Are you sure its Waver you're talkin bout, and not Waver of Red? 👀
Waver learning to value himself was a nice journey to behold. Its like the most common favourite among people
Its Waver Velvet
Waver of Red isn't a thing
I think you mixed it up with Saber of Red
was referencing the gigguk video lol
Ah yeah thats Mordred aka Saber of Red
"So is that Saber of Red or the Saber that's red?"
"...yes"
Mordred gets this name due her being in the Red faction in Fate/Apocrypha and since she's a Saber.
She gets the name Saber of Red
i.e Saber from the Red Faction
This must sound like such bullshit to people who aren't into Fate lmfao
I logged on and thought "Wow, so many messages in such a short time." and then i went to the earliest unread comment and saw someone asking about fate watch order
"This explains everything"
This chat used to be a lot more active before
I guess people have school now or aren't here more often cuz of the leaks pause
March comes in like a lion ending 2. 3-gatsu no lion
I own nothing, all credit goes to the creators of March comes in like a lion.
Almost forgot how good the songs of 3-Gatsu were
I really love sangatsu no lion

Sangatsu manga recently came off of hiatus now that Chica Umino is done with her work in FGO Lostbelt 6
The manga got a new chapter earlier this week iirc
Yes the new tankobon is out. Rei and Hinata is so cute
What's the point of watching ecchi anime if it's censored
Need to wait till oct 8
Yo I just finished jujutsu kaisen (dope btw) any suggestions?
ok
if you want something similar wait for chainsaw man i guess
hi
Mob psycho 100 i think it feels more poggers then jjk or on par with it
Stiens gate <- very hard to justify the experience
What genre do you want
yo i love mp100
Since jjk from jump, maybe another jump story will suit you, my recommendation is terra formars
Need more fantasy/magic/isekai with a hint of romance
I want to watch the slime isekai but seeing it has multiple seasons just sounds tiring
I rly recommend the beginning after the end, it’s an isekai light novel that has a manga adaptation it’s one of the best isekai ive ever watched and I rly love the light novel
And theres a slight romance between the mc and elf princess that gets more important later on but IMO it’s not the main focus of it
The whiny kid evolved into overworked support
I'm reading the manga for this rn. The pain of reading something that's ongoing is real
And I can tell that it still has a very long way to go

And I also heard that the novel is like way way way ahead of the manga
Pain
I might just read the novel
But the novel's also ongoing
Build me a time travel machiiiiiiiiiiine
At least when that one does update, each chapter is like... 90 pages long lol
Its how I justify reading each one as they release
Meanwhile, made the mistake of binge-reading all of Oshi no Ko (at least, what's currently out)
Now im stuck halfway through an arc in a series that easily could have 100+ more chapters til its done
LETS FUCKING GO
Goated manga 🐐 from Aka himself
Who’s best girl for you?
Goated manga... but ongoing manga
Personally an Arima fan, but I feel like the author is leaning more towards Akane ;-;
DO IT
Akane supremacyyy
Ik a few Arima fans who made the immediate switchup to Akane LMAO
It gotta be Akane > Ruby > Arima for me cuz Arima reminds me a lot of Miko Iino LMAO
She’s def gonna get her chance to shine eventually but I’m just here preaching Akane in the meantime 🙌🙌🙌
But yeah I’m still at ch 50 cuz I wanna have the chapters pile up to 60 then I’ll binge them
Normally I’d binge ongoing manga when it’s about to finish but my friends kept preaching Oshi no Ko for me lol
I already caught up with whats on MD, so I think ill read it weekly til this current arc (||theatre stuff||) finishes, then put it back into the "Incomplete, Check Later" bin
Mhm
Oshi no ko readers are cultured af
But theres so many good ones out there that wont finish for another year or two ;-;
I also picked it up cuz I’m heavily familiar with Yokoyari’s nutty art and character designs
Has new chap been released??
Like I thought Kuzu no Honkai was decent yet great in art
Also do y'all read boys abyss as well???
Nope
Ah f...
Pretty sure that’s trending in TikTok no?
U could give it a read
Boys abyss? Im not on tiktok
Only ongoing series im reading are Beginning After the End, some low budget isekai trash, and Komi-san.
Other than that, I've managed to limit myself to only completed ones 😅
Im reading op, boys abyss, dog and scum, oshi no ko and strategic lovers for now
Mhm
Oshi no Ko, Tokyo Revengers and Dr Stone for me
TR kinda ass rn and Dr Stone is still ok imo
Yeah I heard about it
I gotta pick up Urasawa’s other series bruh I’ve only read Pluto and I loved it
Might be Billy Bat first, then Monster, then 20thcb for last
This is just my favorite, so idk if it will suit your taste or not.
Hataraku maou sama, Knight and magic (mecha), dog days.
Did login into game count as isekai? If yes maybe you will like summer wars' or .hack// the movie
oh hey, another knights and magic fan 👀
Not normally a mecha fan, but the MC in that is just way too enthusiastic about workin on them, its kinda contagious
Oh hey, another prespective I never realize till now. I normally only watch for robot.
The "knights" are mecha pilots 👀
I mean... basically yeh lol
and magic beasts
Lowkey, the animation in that one was actually pretty nice (not just the CG mechas. Even the normal fights were surprisingly decent, despite those normally being more of a sidenote in mecha animes)
MC really contagious other character in series (why I never realize this)
So it's called cg
yeh, thats what stood out about it to me lol. Since I don't like mechas on their own, there usually has to be some other standout thing for me to like em (part of why theres only ~4 or so in my list)
CG for "Computer graphics", yeah 👀
3d models and whatnot
What is different between cg and normal one? I only know this after arifureta
MC's gotta invent guns so he can slap em on his mecha lol
CG is using 3d models, traditional animation is hand drawn (easiest way to tell is if they bother with smear frames. models cant do that)
anime
Technically the same thing, tho CG seems to be used more for mixed animation (CG models on a drawn background, or models moving around other drawn characters)
CGI seems to be more for "completely 3d" (Like video games, or anime that dont even bother with the traditional side of things)
technically the same thing, just slight dif in context/usage
So Tesla note, ultra suit, and the new saint seiya is cg anime right?
There's some pretty good 3d anime out there. Land of the Lustorous being one great example of CGI anime done right 👀
yeh
Very well done cgi 👀
Berserk and Ex-Arm give the medium a bad name lol
dunno the other two, but the Ultraman one is cg, yeah (those are 3d models. There might be some drawn on effects laid on top, but 90+% of it is 3d models)
3d models are used cause they're a lot easier to move and manipulate them than hand animation, it just takes a lot of skill to do it well, so its rare to see it front and center unless its a team specialized in that
So most CG in anime is used for stuff like cars and crowds lol (just... dont look at the crowds. Once you notice it, its hard to unsee them)
Another question, why people hate it?
This happen in AoT right?
Maybe I just used to it, never think that far
Used to watch this in childhood
https://youtu.be/tshyNeyD7K8
seandaikan anime ini di angkat k game android
Maybe thats why I okay with cg things

when studios think hey this is a good way to save money instead of hey we can make something really cool with this
Few main reasons:
- Often done poorly/cheaply, with the examples of Arifureta, Berserk and Ex-Arms coming to mind
- Since its largely done as a cost/time-saving measure, some see it as being lazy/cheap ("Don't make an anime if you aren't willing to take the time to animate it"), especially when it ends up impacting the quality of the show
- There's a large "uncanny valley" gap between 'terrible' 3d and 'good' CG, so even studios that try to make an effort can come off making something that looks off/weird (Even more so if the anime tries to have 3d models moving alongside 2d animated figures)
Gigguk's video on the topic is pretty comprehensive https://youtu.be/WVQkwbhmuqQ
WE'RE GETTING ATTACKED BY BAD CG....or are we?

You've seen Catuious Hero right?
Seeing u guys talk about oshi no ko makes me want to read it but NOOOOOOOOO NOT ANOTHER ONGOING
If you do consider it’s worth your time
Like holy shit
Aka is so cunning in detail on the showbiz industry
And whoever’s the team translating it in guya.moe needs a fucking raise
uramichi always gets me in this scene bye
the ongoing struggle
Thanks ill check em out

Yae as Makima

now imagine aether eating yae
@stark snow 🤔
lol
NGNL back from hiatus, we get the fairies race
now gib amime
where the anime
anime gone
LET SCU KING GO
it's. called no game no life btw
we know
NGNL
i thought everyone knew the abbreviation for that masterpiece
anime wher
This is why isekais are garbage
Re:Zero's pretty great if you ask me
W
Canon?
Whatcha mean by canon?
Does it follow the main story line i only watched s1
Didnt know there was a movie
all of it is canon as far as I'm aware
theres 2 actually
memory snow and frozen bonds
they're both only about an hour though
Do the movie move on where the anime left off?
frozen bonds is a prequel
and memory snow happens in between arc 2 and 3
and then season two is after all of that\
Season 2?? Is there a season 2
Season 1 had better pacing and animatiom imo, but Season 2 had better story and character development
But yeh, if you liked the first season, def give S2 a watch.
Also Frozen Bonds, cause it gives good context for Season 2.
(Memory snow is kinda just OVA fluff, not really needed)
it's considered a movie by mal :p
so thats what I went with
I didn't watch frozen bonds until after s2
Memory Snow - OVA, Fall 2018
Frozen Bond - Prequel movie, Fall 2019
it's rly worth it
I didn't find any problems with the pacing
but I like it when things take time to be fleshed out
rather that going at a brisk pace
I would've even preferred it to be longer
I hear about so much cut web novel content
It wasnt 'bad' pacing in S2, I just found S1's to be a bit more enjoyable personally.
S2 kinda seemed to deal with a bit from "dont want to end mid arc, so we gotta make some stuff into multiple episodes so we end when this arc ends"
Still rated both v highly, and its story was really great
I didn't like how jarring subaru's "change" was in ep 13
and I think the first 2 arcs were somewhat lackluster
I hear he was more abrasive in the ln to make the outburst less jarring
but they smoothed him out for the anime
s2 I was in love with all the way through
YOOOOO
I didn't like it much
Yea looking back at it now, it's not as good as how I remember it
It's probably because of the vibrant art that made me like it a lot back then
True
wasn't a fan of the bright colors lowkey making me blind
but I thought it was decent overall, and the prequel movie I actually liked
- they also toned down the colors lol
yeh, thought it was decent too. Don't really get the over-the-top hype folks have for it
Yea, pretty much this
I'm suppressing my urge to read Oshi no Ko since it's ongoing
Gigguk even made a video on it
I'll come back next year to check on whether it's finished or not
missing out bruh
Aka Akasaka + Yokoyari (Kuzu no Honkai mangaka les gooo) + amazing scanlation team = pristine series
I usually avoid ongoing series as well but trust me it’s worth your time if you accidentally pick it up rn
I might "accidentally" pick it up
It do be like that
Re:Zero S2's production quality was better
S1 adapted two of my favourite arcs though
I like them equally, both had really memorable moments
If we ever get S4 though... that'll be the best season.
The last year of high school is always a time of both looking forward and looking back. Before you lives the future, alternately bright and scary. Behind you lie memories, both happy and sad. And somehow, in the course of one year, you have to reconcile those two and decide where your life is going to go.
For Wakana Sakai, who had started studyi...
?
I think
@split panther
i watched tari tari and i dont remember that it has a good animation for 2012 anime
that's what the comments are saying at least
I don't think anime piracy is allowed?
I use MALSync
Taiga only when I want to watch in higher quality
wait what higher quality has anyhting to do with taiga
uhmmm you can watch anime on taiga?
"Torrents"
i never use the torrent
only use it for auto detecting what anime im watching on my media player. and taiga will update it to my anilsit account automatically
I don't recommend it if you don't know what you're in for
and yes
that's one of the uses
MALSync does the same except with websites like Crunchyroll
instead of media players
so it cannot do offline media palyer
why even bother use malsync. taiga also can detect streaming website
It also adds stuff to Anilist
the only complain i have with taiga now is, it cannot work with MAL account now
AL is overall just better
but my eyes for some reason just seems to hate AL
That's weird considering it looks neater and more modern than MAL
AL is only questionable when it comes to what behaviour they allow and don't allow
idk man, maybe im just a lil biased cuz i used MAL so long
also the lack of VNs and their messy criteria for what can be added on the site as an entry
these are my only complaints really
and i legit just knew that you need to turn on 18+ option to look at adult content on AL. i thought they dont list adult anime on their site. turns out im just to dumc
Ouch
I'm still in despair over Sotsu and Gou
well despair's a little much
Very disappointed
I’d disagree imo
now remember this
He’s gonna be goated if he actually fulfills it
Cuz the industry kinda yikes with minimal pay and third rate working conditions already
what takes it so long, aint they been like that since 90s?
Better animation, less cut content since the whole season was dedicated to arc 4, soundtrack just as good
They squeezed every minute out of the 25 episodes
Arc 4 starts with Volume 10 and ends with Volume 15
So with 25 episodes S2 adapts 5 volumes, while S1 adapts 9
i didnt watch re zero's OVAs, are they worth watching? if so in which order?
that can't be right
the animation is far worse than the first season
not terrible or anything
but it was far worse
Any good animes that released recently?
how recent do we want?
2020/2021 and i saw alot of good ones already. Demon slayer, jujutsu kaisen etc
.
86 if you like some of the oldschool mech (but mostly as a plot device instead of the main focus) with a good set of characters
Tsukimichi if you like Isekai trash that tries to be different
Seems interested
Kanojo mo Kanojo if you want a harem but all the people involved are mentally insane (in a funny way)
You have some more. Added the both to my list
If you want a longer kind of slice of life (but very very dramatic), Fruits Basket. Like many seasons long.
Fumetsu no anata e for some differnet kind of fantasy.
and Duke of Death is also pretty good if you dont mind half-decent CGI too much
No
Honestly as a LN reader I appreciate S2 more, it's a better adaptation
S1 just happens to cover one of my favourite arcs
I often find a lot of readers deeming sanctuary arc (aka S2) peak and I gotta say they capped so hard
if anything I'm just gonna bet my money on a comeback if they plan a S3
Because the shift from character to dialogue driven dispositions wasn't it for me
And considering the whole intimacy with Subaru's psyche I've grabbed ahold in S1 just felt lost in S2
yeaaa imo S1 peaked for me
pretty sure Jake and I talked about the animation too, definitely feels more alive that season
Check out Oddtaxi and Vivy if you can
S1 had more than half an episode dedicated to a single dialogue
Re:Zero was and will always be about its characters
And it's not only readers that think S2 is peak Re:Zero anime
yeah
I haven't read yet
planning on it if the 3rd season isn't announced by the end of 2021
but It's my favorite
Beastars?
Also sadly out of 27 volumes of the Japanese LN only 16 are translated
which is barely after S2
so you're gonna have to read the WN
Don't remember enough to comment on the SFX and other production value bits (I remember liking S2's OST and OP/EDs a lot more at least), but while the second season had the better overall arcs and writing, S2's animation quality was definitely a step down in many areas from S1's (My personal theory is that their more experienced animators were busy working on Mushoku Tensei)
Never brought up writing
Was just repeating my claim with that part 😅 Like I said, I don't remember enough of the SFX/other production value bits to compare them, so all I can comment on is the quality of the actual animation
I rewatched both seasons a month ago
Both seasons are great but S2 was just handled better
I'm not saying S1 is better. Personally, rated them ~the same (with S2's first half putting it slightly over S1 in my book). But it did suffer a bit from their talents being assigned elsewhere 👀
Looking through sakugabooru, seems they fixed some of it in the bluray at least.
It's not only about animation
Good examples are ||Subaru's talk with Beatrice||, ||The reveal of RbD with Echidna|| and ||Subaru's first death to the Great Rabbit|| (S2 Spoilers for Re:Zero)
Although the animation in the ||final battle with Julius and Subaru against Petelgeuse|| peaked, these scenes were honestly just as good as EP15's ending in S1
S1 had its weird moments and felt less constant than S2
Yes, S2 ended a while ago but I still added spoilers
just to be sure
Never brought up writing
It's not only about animation
Well, what should I be comparing then? 👀
Personally, I found S1's "weirdness", while awkward at the time, kinda works now as "setup" for the Subaru's character development and growth in S2. So at least personally, the two feel comparable in that sense. (The ||Subaru trials|| portion of S2 was really well done though, which is what puts it a bit above S1 for me. Found the rest of the pacing/story to be about equal with S1 though imo)
Writing is unrelated to adaptation
Writing in this case refers to what is actually shown to the viewer in the episode. I havent read the LN, so I can't comment on that
||https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGoLD1j3IYQ||
If you want to see weird stuff honestly.
Clip from Re zero ep 3 / ep 2 (director's cut)
I do not own this. All rights reserved to White Fox.
I'm speaking adaptation wise
So am I. Which is why I'm confused why I can't comment on it? 😅
A good anime isn't necessarily a good adaptation
...how am I supposed to know if it's a good adaption if, like I said, I havent read the LN? 😅 I'm only talking about how they wrote the episode (script, dialogue, etc)
Also I never prohibited you from talking about it, I just reminded you I'm not speaking of writing since it's more pertaining to the source material.
Considering I kind of started or continued the debate... it's not really something I should be worrying about
I wrote this 4 minutes ago but I went out to get a drink
well not 4 minutes
3 to be specific
Yeah... now I'm just confused what the conversation is about anymore, so I'm just gonna back out.
.
You do you honestly
that was the plan anyway
Both are great

i joined and saw an anime chat so i immediately came to ask: who here likes neon genesis evangelion.
I do but I need to rewatch it
missing kaworu and shinji hours
its a shame its like. the only openly gay love and kaworu is fucking killed off anyways.
houseki no kuni
I recalled Beastars actually having two scenes in 2D in its second season, otherwise it's all 3D and by the same studios that did HnK as well
you're referring to the "I love Emilia" scene right? I remembered that scene taking quite some time but at least I jived with it
I'm referring to the "I hate myself" scene
and it was one of my favourite scenes
ah the one with the emilia lap pillow?
No
shit
I was sorta right
Subaru wants to trespass to Mexico after getting a brain freeze from eating too much ice cream
Cuz that's the one where Subaru was talking to Rem and she's like "lets start from zero"
Rem stops him by reminding he left his money at the buffoon's house
Yes
Same thing.
yep that one is really good
Really was
I'd say it's one of my favourites from S1 but I have like
4 to 5 favourites
Yeah there were some hard felt moments
(Wilhelm)
I remember Wilhelm
Wilhelm is one of my favourite characters
He's such a chad
and I've yet to read Re:Zero EX
I love reading so I don't mind either
just as long as both the anime and the LN or WN make use of their strengths
yeahh I'm only reading like 3 mangas and that's it
only LN/WN I've read was Cautious Hero
Haven't read Cautious Hero yet, I'm not really interested
and one volume of Mushoku Tensei but couldn't be arsed to continue
yeah from my experience I'd give lotta praise to its worldbuilding
Re:Zero's LN / WN is very brutal
other than that it's isekai at one of its purest form
yeah I had a friend or 2 talked about how brutal the LN is for RZ
MT is in fact a bunch of trends that were becoming popular at the time put together into one WN
yeah
The author is very descriptive
yeah those friends described what happened to the great rabbit scene I was a tad shocked
||subaru got his ass ate|| like goddamn
Yes, chances are you'll read a death and go "what the hell"
The anime actually did a pretty good job at adapting that
Anime in general though can't afford to be as brutal as LNs I think
yeah I can agree
(Cough Overlord)
lmao
I've got to reread it, had to pause it two years ago because of school
mhm
Anyway, Tanya S2 and Overlord S4 + a movie are coming
it's a good time for Isekai fans
It's really fun to watch
for that reason I've been waiting for S2 instead of reading ahead
nice
so I recommend it
so re: zero's your favourite isekai right?
how would you rate the other isekais you watched/read in order?
I'm not good with favourites
so no idea
same thing with ratings
The Isekai I like the most are pretty standard though, Re:Zero, Overlord, Youjo Senki, Konosuba
Among those 4 I wouldn't say there's one I prefer, I like them for different reasons
ah yes the main isekai quartet
I'd say my investment in Konosuba has diminished though, since the LN is over
a new anime's coming
yep
They're honestly the best
and they're very different from each other
re:zero's the only one without a sequel announced in the quartet iirc
Weell, it got a new season recently
rezero and cautious hero
Cautious Hero's just there
every other isekai introduced got their sequel annoucements
Yes, Kazuma telling Subaru he's had it easy
such a Kazuma thing to do
if he ever realised he'd apologise in his head a thousands times over
not all animes go in proper order
or what we would consider to be proper
a prime example is that of bsd. its like s1 -> s2 -> random ass movie -> s4
I MEANT S3
but anyway you'd think the movie would come last
but it doesnt
but s4 is coming out next year so thats gonna be odd for new fans
because a lot of fans come in not knowing the actual order
i almost didnt.
awful times.
its confusing as shit tho when they dont put in the order of what u would think is normal
and also idk i never watched re:zero
not planning on it
was just responding to the person who was like "wdym just watch" cuz not everyone knows the chronological order due to movies being placed in between seasons sometimes with no explanation or known knowledge beforehand when getting into a series
cuz well. they never seem to explain that. idk why they dont
its hard for new fans to understand if they cant explain
not saying its that persons fault btw just trying to explain that well. its a shame that creators behind these things cant explain the order at all
they just expect u to figure it out
I WENT INTO A TANGENT ABT CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER NOT MAKING SENSE SORRY
idk these series to like get into it by order
🍿
im just comparing it to bungo 😭
I found an anime that makes me care again
because bungo doesnt follow a "normal series" thing
I’m happy
its movies in the middle of seasons and shit like that
and they dont even warn u abt it
they like. expect u to just know
I don't care much about bsd so can't say
its odd but its a good series!
its really only for those intrigued in internal warfare between the mafia and other organizations tho
I feel the majority of the fanbase are Dazai simps lol
but otherwise I can see it being good
u can like dazai but i hate that they wash his character down
bungou stray dogs
they just made him strictly like. "uwu suicidal"
like pls stfu
they ruined that poor man
they did not dedicate an entire season to his backstory for yall to make him nothing.
yeah they made him kinda kek
anyways
re:zero's just s1 -> s2 p1 -> s2 p2
the movies are just side stories
in terms of chronology of the side stories it's up to you tbh LOL
cuz one of them takes place in the mansion when Subaru's chilling there and the other is Emilia back story and stuff
yep I agree
like no doubt mha is a fine series but the fandom waters it down
don't remember
kinda?
Fandoms these days tell me what to avoid if anything
I’ll try things based on my own research
I’ve done little research into next season which I think is good cause I want it to be fairly light
Major buzz kill that Date A Live season 4 got delayed and I don’t see anything I’m interested in thus far
But this upcoming week will be interesting
Will try three or four shows a 1 episode try
Kinda ||why, but not really how.||
