Kanojo mo Kanojo drives me crazy. Bokutachi no Remake is corny. Aquatope is kinda boring. Fumetsu is Fumetsu. Villainess is okay. Dragon Maid is best show this season.

But Tokyo Revengers based on just 3 episodes is already my 2nd favorite seasonal

Lowkey, I knew Dragon Maid was going to be good, but it somehow managed to go above and beyond even what I was expecting from it

Its like they took my favorite parts of S1 and made entire episodes about them (the relationship between characters, the human moments and all that)

like today's episode with Elma and Tohru did such a good job of fleshing them out as characters

The thing is... Dragon Maid Season 1 wasn't that hype to me

I went into Season 2 with low expectations

My mind is blown each episode

What pisses me off the most is how Kanojo mo Kanojo... I went into it expecting to be really funny and it always falls flat and disappoints

I wanna drop it badly, but I'll stomach it. But it's shows like Kanojo mo Kanojo that will make me quit anime again

Dragon Maid started off as cute and well made, but forgetable (like Nichijou, ngl). It picked up a lot in quality towards the end when it started putting more time on developing the relationship between Kobayashi and Tohru (that and black dragon and the human)

The hot spring OVA in particular did a really good job of having some nice, deep connections between the two

Season 1 was mostly about the cuteness

Stuff like Fafnir (black hair dragon) and his human friend building up a whole friendship and having it feel completely natural takes a lot of skill to "passively" convey like that

which is why S2 doing it every damn episode has me impressed lol

Like, Ilulu has only been on-screen for like... maybe 20-25 minutes total? but she has more development to who she is and what she wants than a lot of anime do in a season

I watched the first three eps around 4 months ago (so I don't quite remember what happened in them), but I know I didn't enjoy them that much. It took me a few episodes afterwards to get into the groove because the main character annoyed the sh*t out of me.
He's weak but shows no signs of wanting to grow- physically at least. His character is a wuss who has a headstrong approach to everything, thinking he can somehow get through it.
I somewhat enjoy the plot building as well as the audio production, but other than that, the series is average for me. I'd say it sits around 5th for my seasonals.

For Bokutachi no Remake I can see how it's corny but I actually enjoy the corniness. It follows some tropes that I enjoy so there's nothing wrong with that in my eyes. I wasn't expecting a completely fresh take on the romance genre anyways.

Well, a ramble

Saenai is tonight's ramble

The series was overall solid

It had some misses with the OVAs being kinda brainless fan service

But the TV series and the movie were enjoyable

I'd say season 1 was sorta generic

Anyway, season 2 of Saenai was where the plot started to take an interesting route

And the movie sorta goes left field from the series direction

And its important to watch all of the movie and not stop at the credits

I gotta say the series is a decent romance/love Triangle with game development

So for the hot take aspect, it feels sorta rushed

Like the tone from season 1 to season 2 to the movie I mean

That said, I dont have much to complain beyond the pacing/direction and can call the series worthwhile

I wouldn't call it a hidden gem, but it does a good job at its genre

Now to Madoka

It's a magical girl show with a dark twist. Any more is spoilers @cunning cloak

It's well acclaimed, but its short

So far, shit's actually surprisingly well done. The animation stands out too, but there's quite a lot of nice humor mixed in as well

But like I knew what anime was as when I fell in love with Pokemon

You can name an anjme you legit searched for that didn't air on TV

But most likely a video game or TV show got you started knowing or unknowingly

It's kinda like a kid say Mario is American or something

A kid who liked Mario or Nintendo growing up likely would have discovered Japan

But the thing is

A kid today might think Genshin Impact is Japanese

And I was just saying the "unknowingly" shows arent really what I'd consider the "first anime" as far as "how you got into anime".

Like... I started watching Pokemon on Cartoon Network ~2002. But I didnt get into "anime" until watching the first one I was conciously aware wasnt a "cartoon" (in my case, Beyond the Boundary) in 2013 😅

Pokemon was my "first", yes, but its not what got me into it or what made me aware of anime as a whole. So I'd argue Beyond the Boundary was my first "anime" (as in "ooo, whats this new Japanese thing?")

Moving on I watched the theatrical release of Kakushigoto having watched the anime beforehand and I think it did a solid job condensing the series

It covers all the important, somber scenes from the present that's prominent for the story

While adapting some of the memorable comedic scenes in the past

So the movie's a valid option if you're lazy, not in the mood for comedy, etc etc..
