- Character interactions are genuine and pure, pop culture references here and there. Best script by a landslide
- I like every side story each person has, and they all link to each other with the MC in the middle of it
- Suspense value is pretty high, never felt so tense in a while watching an anime
Each episode keeps me interested to find out more
This is what I'm currently watching, too lazy to put Fumetsu in there
Those are pretty solid points. I'm also enjoying those same features
Yea I value those points a lot because most of the stuff this season is just turn off your brain and enjoy
Like Higehiro
It's good
But shock value is what it has going for rn, along with a side of wholesome
that's actually so true
Yea, too bad the anime isn't finished per se
Tho I myself need to finish it haha
Like Nagatoro
Is just Takagi-san but you enabled dark mode
Vivy and Oddtaxi, along with 86 are actual series I can like glue my eyes and ears and enjoy some little things they put out
yeah i was like 'wtf is this' at first but its actually one of the best this season, I must admit
I'm kinda disappointed lmao
I had very high hopes for 86 because
- A1 Pictures
- Sawano
- Good source material
But as of now it's not as amazing as I thought it would be
And the first volume is peak, so it kinda goes a bit down from there
Lena best girl of the season thooo
do u guys have any thoughts on Shadows House?
Good
Manga is still new but the anime still warrants a good watch
for now
CloverWorks has one last chance bruh istg
So far it seems pretty fine
do you consider 'Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui' another turn-off-ur-brain anime?
Ya
Fucking age gap season istg
Higehiro
Koikimo
Even some moments of Oddtaxi
🤔
lmaoo
I'm not a fan of those types of shows
I watch any as long as it's good
But rn I'm watching shit anime to lower my mean score
lol
What's your taste like?
I'm a Kunihiko Ikuhara simp
Woah you saw Skelter Heaven
Penguindrum and Sarazanmai are the only stuff I watched from him
Penguindrum is class
Sarazanmai falls a bit below but I still liked it
Eventually I'm gonna pick up Lesbian Bear Storm (I forgot the JPN title lol)
YEp that's it
I watched anime because of the pandemic lol, otherwise I might have quit for good
I got burned out from watching so much bad anime
Now I only watch the good stuff
Smh, Penguindrum is not his best work
I'm serious
What's his best? Sailor Moon?
Utena?
Ye
Penguindrum is good, but its doesn't hold up to his best work
I had to watch Rose of Versailles after that
lol
That anime is super old, but its really good
It's so good that it belongs with classic literature
sou sou
It's not like a Ghibli appeal
It's a classic literature book you read in high school good
Only classic literature book I read in hs that was up there for me was Hamlet
Everything else was whatever
Yea I thought Penguindrum was my great watch from him. His unconventional style of jumping from past to present takes us on a bizarre journey that answers questions with even more questions
What's your opinion on Eva then?
Haven't watched actually lmao
I just know that my brain is gonna hurt at the end
Please tell me you seen Cowboy Bebop
Probably won't be as bad as SEL but still gonna make me think
ofc
Oh thank god
Most episodes binged in a day has to be Cowboy Bebop, and its movie too
I was worried you only watched 2010 anime and newer
I mean I watched a lot of anime 2010s and newer lol
Lemme check my list hold on
This is just a sample only considering 2008 as the oldest
LMAO there we go, not a lot as you can see
Skipped 2007, I watched 6 series from that year
But yea
Not bad though
Yea Akira's my oldest anime I've watched haha
Akira really was a 2020 anime
I think the movie was set in 2020 with the Olympics
It was a big reason why Japan wanted that to be a reality
mhm
I guess I never asked you what your favorite genre is
I can tell it probably isn't shounen lol
Shounen was a little bit of my childhood obviously
Like a couple episodes of Naruto, DBZ and such
That's fair
But I was gonna be shocked if you were a big MHA stan
Or Edens Zero the new Fairy Tail
Aside from JJK there aren't any amazing shounens out there nowadays
Edens Zero is a better FT
Even better than Rave Master?!
Apparently it's supposed to be a mix of what it does better than FT and Rave Master
I'm too biased lol. I won't watch it
My mind is made up cause Fairy Tail was really bad
Yea that's fair
I don't even watch any of Nakima's stuff anyways
Yea Boruto is like 100 eps of filler lol
That said shounen isn't all bad
It just gets a bad rep
I dont get 7 deadly sins
I do get MHA and Demonslayer
7DS was fine
Until bad animation
But the older shounen like YYH or Kenshin that's the prime to me
I've watched Rurouni Kenshin
Shoot even HxH 2011 is peak shounen
I really wanna pick up YYH but idk how I managed to watch almost 100 episodes
One Piece scares me, but I know it's good
Should be ending soon, but not that soon tho lol
Yeah, even when it ends I'm still intimidated by its length
But I gotta give it props
Dragon Ball Z... man ever since I played Dragon Quest... it's so hard lol
It's the same artist, but Dragon Quest is so much more enjoyable lol
Yea I'm surprised OP is still consistent
And I don't think the mangaka Oda didn't pull any revival no jutsus as well
If they die, they die
Bleach and Naruto went downhill pretty bad
Shoot, even some people are angry with Attack on Titan comparing it to Game of Thrones lol
idk about Bleach, only heard it gets way better halfway
Naruto was fine all the way until Pain
All the fights have been Talk no Jutsus from there
Nah for me it was when they compare it to fascism iirc
I seen that too
Shounen took a backseat these days
A lot of isekais are usually OP MC with ecchi harem
And long ass titles
I Reincarnated Into Some OP Dude And I Try To Beat The Demon Lord With My Harem
sum like that
And they're all mid
Re Zero and Shield Hero are the only ones I cared about
Overlord
👎
Sword Art Online
👎
Etc
Re:Zero S1 was good but S2 was boring as fuck
S2 P2 specifically
S2 P1 was also good but not up there
Shield Hero? idk why I gave it a high score LMFAO
😿
It's like a solid 7 but the revenge thing he got going on was kinda stale
Malty bitch should've died
Otherwise it's good
Overlord I can't say much cuz haven't watched it. Looks hype tho, S4 coming soon
I'm gonna shower, but I'll let you get triggered by my opinion
I don't care for Kono Suba
🍿
Have fun with that
Lol you'll be more triggered when I say SAO isn't entirely bad
S1 I didn't care, S2 was better and I started seeing the appeal for the holy trinity and Kazuma.
Movie made me laughed a lot!
and aight cya, gonna brb too anyways
@fringe steeple Finished Gosick.
The ending was really good, even if it felt rushed as usual.
Honestly that's where the series peaked - a really solid balance of mystery and historical fiction direction.
And the animation/shots shined the most with the quick fights and the intensified melodrama in those last few episodes
yeaa nice, the last episodes were indeed bangers
what mystery did u enjoy the most?

Maybe the train one I guess?
owh that one
Gives me Baccano vibes
Even if it felt like meh cuz ok she got poisoned and shit and ppl shoot each other it's really weird
It's pretty interesting
lmaoo
ship vibes
poison with ice very big brain move
5 or 6 tbh
Credit's where credit's due. Gosick flopped hard in the beginning but it gradually picks up to be a decent watch overall
That one's mighty good I admit
Like "ohh that's interesting yes yes
"
Yeh, found P2 a little lackluster outside of the final episodes. But personally, S2 P1 was my favorite of the whole series.
The ||trials|| and the ||Witch interactions|| were pretty damn terrifying/#suffering
And the ||parents trial (second I think?)|| in particular was really powerful character development for Subaru
they pushed it up too far
this, i actually love overall how subaru overcome all of that
Apparently S2 is peak for WN/LN readers
Guess I'm not looking forward to the future
I'd rather see White Fox do Cautious Hero S2 instead of another Re: Zero season
Nah, they're hard at work on Mushoku Tensei 👀
Ahh makes sense now
Mushoku tensei is basically the dream team of White Fox animators and Egg Firm as the production team
(Personally, I think its where the animation budget for ReZero S2 went)
Honestly yea
Ratings are so high so S2 P2 but that's because of the emotional value it puts out for the fans
S2 was the emotional peak of the series so far, but even tho I loved it for its story and emotion, I'll admit animation/action wise it was very much lacking compared to S1
Meanwhile, Mushoku Tensei finds ways to flex its animation in almost every episode lol
Yee I think it's decent to good nonetheless but it's not like way up there
Overall the series as a whole is a pretty solid isekai for adding psychological depth to the concept of respawning, although the characters kinda waters it down for me a tad
S1, definitely. I think by the end of S2, they've grown tolerable now though.
Honestly, I feel like S2 was the author going "Okay... I need an excuse to make Emilia into someone with an actual personality"
Somewhat agree here. But while S2 was very much lacking. But S1 at least, while used very sparingly, had some pretty damn good animation when they ultimately used it.
S2 used a lot more "lazier" animation in most of its fights (Ex: Slash marks, then a slowly moving still frame)
Man, been a minute since I've seen Felt
The notable exception being ||in Emilia's last trial. The fights in that were really well done surprisingly||
I didn't care for the animation in Re: Zero at all so I couldn't bear to tell
The whole direction the series had going is what interests me the most, since it's the most crucial
Yee, I like that stuff too. I'm just also a huge animation nerd, so I kind of nerd out when its done right 😅
Yea normally I'm a sucker for animation but Re: Zero didn't catch my attention
I try not to overvalue it too, like my JJK rating is still inflated lmao
Yee, I usually dont factor it too heavily in my ratings...
but cmon... sometimes its just way too good.
Credit where credit's due indeed
Throw a simple ass plot and whatever characters.
But with stellar visuals and artwork throughout the whole animating process and I'll still give it a 7
Promare moment
Yus. Like... the ||Eris's Tutor|| arc is my least favorite of the Mushoku Tensei arcs... (It's the MC at his scummiest)
But I still go back and watch Ep 7 sometimes just for the opening sword practice scene
||https://youtu.be/BTLzF39s0A0||
Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (2021) Ep 7 - Eris is practicing with Ghislaine.
Titles: 無職転生 ~異世界行ったら本気だす~.
Animation: Q Kawa.
Same goes for the ||scene with Ghislane and the bandits||
Yea they really put out good effort for this series
Personally only read the first volume back then but I stopped
it just looks like 2 kids having fun to me

bruh my friend searched for the meaning of ntr for some reason and says "this is the reason i dont want to watch anime"
i am losing brain cells
nah they thought saying ntr meant telling someone to die
so when i said it didnt
i told them not to search it but
It's tough to get a normie into anime tbh
Miyazaki retiring doesn't help
And in my opinion Demonslayer isn't really a good successor to stuff like the big 3 and DBZ before that
Isnt NTR more of a lewd thing than an anime thing? Don't recall any recent anime that featured that
Then
"this is the reason i dont want to watch anime"
makes no sense lol
hey
i got warned for saying an inappropriate word
oh right
anyway, point being your friend is being silly lol

time to say I LOVE YOU SUBARU as all responses

Damn, they really hitting us with the hard questions :'(
Why isn't it multiple choice? ;;;-;;;

Going through the effort of translating the last response into Japanese 👀 Thank god for Reverso Context
Very popular genre and kinda fucked to say the least
Not in anime, fortunately. This is different
Lol this is funny

i wonder what "anime" he is watching
Redo of Healer
Nah, Redo fits a lot of tags, but I don't think that's one of them (at least so far)
i think that was a joke LMAO
Yee, but I wanted to nitpick :p
On an unrelated note... rewatching Kaguya to see how the dub does my favorite scenes... my god, the fever episode is just as good, if not even more adorable in the dub...
From Kaguya-sama: Love is war season 1 episode 9.
^[Season 1, Episode 9 for those concerned about spoilers]
i saw u post a dub love is war vid before u really love ur dubs huh XD
i see
on another unrelated note did yk they post Mystery Kiss songs on spotify LMAo
from Odd Taxi? Yeh, their supplementary content for the show is great
Waiting for someone to put subtitles for the radio story thing they've been running alongside the show
(But before I drop the dub thing... Konosuba's dub is another god-tier level dub work 10/10, would honestly recommend just as much as the original https://youtu.be/GnhUDA7J5b0 )
The Konosuba English Dub is amazing [Konosuba]
"What should I do Kazuma?" "dunno"
"Oh the horror! What should I do Kazuma?!" "still dunno"
gives me the same vibes as the running "Hai, Kazuma desu" joke
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! Episode 7.
For entertainment purposes only.

lmao, Verdia and Kazuma VA's are really good ngl
So I finished Kumo Desu LN (all that's out in English that is), anyone have good similarish LNs to recommend
Well, besides the classics Overlord and That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, Arifureta and A Wild Last Boss Appears have been pretty good reads so far (Arifureta is finishing in the next volume iirc)
I didnt read Arifureta's LN but I heard that the anime didnt do it justice. The 3d made my eyes cringe
Btw Kumo Desu LN is absolutely amazing. Kinda concerned with how much the anime is leaving out, it feels rushed
100%
The LN has been great so far (the last three or so volumes have been solid 10s imo), and the manga is incredibly well drawn
||namely the mother fight||
Anime didnt do it justice at all
I'll definitely check it out
I'll have to read it soon
Always the case sadly with LN adaptions. But as someone who is holding off on the LN til the anime finishes, the Spider anime feels pretty well paces for a newcomer to the series
That's true, I do remember the pace feeling great before I read it
There are so many scenes I want to see animated but they won't be any time soon
Would also make a strong reccomendation for A Wild Last Boss Appears, especially for any Overlord fans c:
It's actually surprised me so far with its approach to the premise.
(The premise is essentially "Overlord, but the guardians spawned 200 years before the MC, and are kind of doing their own thing when the MC returns to the world, so now the MC has to track them down")
so the MC is the 'overlord' character who is trying to track down their subordinates?
is this also an isekai
Yee, and yee
Like I said tho, thats the premise, but they're taking a unique approach to it.
I wont spoil it, cause its a great reveal (well, reveals*), but its a lot more fleshed out than the intial summary would suggest.
preference: overlord or this LN
Hm. I'd say they're kind of doing different things, so its hard to choose one or the other.
But if I had to choose...
Overlord has the better supporting cast (outside of the dungeon guardians), but I like the worldbuilding and main crew of this LN more
okay... just wanted some reference and to know what to expect
Yee, Overlord's focus is more on the nationbuilding side of things, while Last Boss focuses more on the world and the MC's relationship with it (trying to phrase these things in the most spoiler free way possible
)
It's unfortunate but the Beserk mangaka just passed awag
Aw no :c
oof
Dang I didn't know there was an official server
And dang Boolit loves his anime
I cant really talk on the MAL discord
Too many people
No one can replicate his art; don't think Berserk should continue
I dont think it will continue either
I don’t think anyone would like that
It’s not their work
I personally wouldn’t like it
Exactly
@prisma cape Spoiler
I forgot to do the spoiler thing
nO
Yes
Yo Suika ||time-skip|| was a nice surprise
ngl the manga was kinda dull until that final battle when they went all out
The shock value where ||almost everyone got gunned down|| was pretty hype ngl
Suika is ||now legal|| kekw
Indeed
Hope there isn't any "art"
Because that will be weird

I don't wanna click that .mp4
looks like ecchi vid
Will probably be deleted by mods soon
Nah it's one second and crashes Discord if you run PC
My friend sent it to me once

Where were you when you realized berserk was never going to be finished
They passed away yesterday
Man that’s sad, berserk is great.. rip
nope she is around ||15|| now iirc
That’s legal in Japan
noooooo
||She was around 9 when the petrification hit, she spent 2 years petrified and 5 years unpetrified thats around 14-15||
||17 if you wanna count petrified years i guess but idk why you would||
i hate Elizabeth from black butler
omgg shadow housse
the manga is so good plus the coloring is nice
what's a good slice of life show if anyone knows any?
Personal top reccomendations:
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: Overly affectionate dragon loves on the MC, and several other dragonoid cutesy characters (hard to describe, but the show is honestly super heartwarming and well done)
Interviews with Monster Girls: Vampire, ice, and dullahan school girls have fun at school, while a succubus teacher tries her hardest not to accidentally seduce anyone. Super wholesome.
K-On!: Cute girls learn to be a school band. Good music, adorable MCs.
Gabriel Dropout: Lazy angel, demon and friends get into schenanigans at school.
Nichijou: What happens when you give a slice of life the animation budget of One Punch Man
Yesh I agree with all those reccomendations
Its less to do with budget and more to do with Kyoto Animation's talented and passionate staff.
...but also budget
They are one of the few remaining studios to treat their employees as humans.
just from my experience and opinion the jokes got a little stale after the first half
Yee, I like Nichijou better as a clips thing than an actual show tbh
Check out Sangatsu no Lion, Barakamon and Bakuman if you're looking for compelling coming of age SoLs.
I feel like "coming of age" and "SoL" kinda go against each other, dont they?
Since I usually see SoL as having little to no growth/change from episode to episode
I mean Ive watched daily life animes where they get character growth through their experiences so I don't think they conflict
Not necessarily. Coming of age simply means growth of a person as they go on with their life. Growth doesn't come instantaneously, it takes a long time and may be arduous to some people. Slice of life and coming of age go hand in hand when handled carefully.
A perfect example would be the eariler SoL i mentioned ; Sangatsu no Lion.
Yep
What kind of SOL you're looking for
Like Aria and Non Non Biyori SOL where it's chill for the most part?
Or something like Sakamichi no Apollon and White Album 2
Personal 10/10s btw
Does Sakamichi have an anime? Thought that one was just a manga
It does have an anime
It was one of Mappa's first ever works. Back when they still had their founder.
Their rotoscoping techniques can be seen in that series
They were actually creative back then
Rather than turning into a soulless machine which just mass produces anime
Too bad their working conditions apparently suck ass now
Yea speaking as a drummer who plays a couple other instruments now, the anime speaks a lot to me
Drummer and pianist bromance
Really clicks
Which is a shame (tho I completely understand why), since they've done some impressive work (Jujutsu Kaisen in particular had some incredible animation)
Jujutsu Kaisen might as well be peak MAPPA
At the cost of AOT S4 being their weakest
Like how Re:Zero S2's animation was sacrificed to make the gorgeous animations in Mushoku Tensei
JJK was all thanks to its series director who brought his own people to make sure it would be a competent adaptation
Exactly
Yeah ReZero's production issues were obvious. Even the adaptation well short narrative wise according to the web novel leaders
I personally got bored of the anime during s2 p2. Dropped it around ep 5
S2 p1 was decent. S2 p2 is when it falls off
The later arcs are much better when stakes are much more apparent
Emotional/character development wise, S2 was great. It just suffered from pacing and animation issues imo
Later arcs should give them more to keep the episodes suspenseful/energized (in the four years from now when they get around to S3 lol)
Not sure if we're gonna get a s3
Just gonna go back to this kekw
Already a lot of White Fox's staff is preoccupied helping at Bind for Mushoku
I feel like sequels are getting less risky/less rare nowadays. A lot more shows are getting them then there used to
https://youtu.be/pMwPdVqw_Zc
Production IG surprised me with their work in FGO Camelot 2
This is amazing my waifu xuanzang finally gets more screentime
#Fate #FateGrandOrder
"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might othe...
The trailer alone looks so much better than the last movie
Hell, Overlord's LN is 2 volumes from finishing, and S3 was pretty widely shat on, and its getting an S4 and a movie 👀
Only good sequels come from SOL/rom-com anime
Lmao
Oh and for Production IG
Their stuff are good hits or misses
I’ve seen their worse ones like BEM, whereas you also have something like Haikyuu, tho I heard S4 animation kinda lacked
Didn’t they also helped MAPPA for AOT too?
Very true. But since that movie is being handled by the same staff who animated Fate/Apocrypha's episode 21. That episode is heavily praised industry wide and had pretty much every big name animator contributing to it. So im positive they can pull off the movie adaptation
Yea I trust IG
Its mostly freelancer's work more than Production IG themselves
No not to my knowledge. They co produced it with Studio Wit during s1 to s3
Yea must’ve been that
Lol MADHOUSE better comeback with that
God I still need to watch 3-gatsu but the fact that it’s not finished yet strays me away from it
You can watch what's been adapted so far
Shaft did it as a 44 episode suite with guidance from the mangaka herself. So it ends off in a way where you will be satisfied even if it isn't the full story.
You can always read the manga if you want more.
There's no rush. The anime isn't gonna run away
I didn't bother with the second season.
Can’t finish everything off the plate indeed
The second season was its peak
The first season didn't do it for me
I do love the 4th opening for 3-gatsu since I’m a Unison Square Garden simp
They are a nice band. One of my favs as well
So beautiful and bright compared to the other openings, guess it says something y’know
About the MC’s development
Its brighter for a reason
Yeah
Why not?
Around this time I watched Kono Oto Tomare and Chihaiyafuru and 3-gatsu was the weakest show of the three.
I know people praise 3-gatsu... but people praise a lot of anime that I end up not seeing the same way
Take Clannad or Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, I think the shows are decent, but definitely overhyped
I think 3-gatsu is a decent show, but I just don't buy the hype
Sangatsu's first season can definitely be too down in the dumps and melancholic for some people. I can definitely see that
I might watch season 2 cause that's the season that gets so much hype l, but everyone's tastes are different
But its the transition from that darkness to s2's more lighthearted theme which people praise.
It's not that season 1 was bad, it's just I was watching anime that I liked better at the same time
And season 1 just didn't feel worth continuing to season 2
Kono Oto Tomare and Chihayafuru are both good SoLs, though entirely different than what Sangatsu was going for.
It's sorta like me watching Index after watching Railgun lol
But that much should be a given since KTO and Chihayafuru have very different demographic than that on 3 Gatsu
@solar dew Have you read the KTO manga?
I haven't
The recent chapters have given more background to Chika's past
People say 3-gatsu can't be compared with Chiyafuru... but I disagree with that
Pretty good i'd say
I would’ve thought it’s 3-gatsu > Chihayafuru > Tomare
Those kinda series are pretty neat tho
Nah I'm special, I go against the norm
I feel like both shows compliment each other rather than oppose each other
Yeah you can say that
Same story but different sides of the coin
I watch obscure and experimental shit sometimes don’t worry
The community says Brotherhood is the best anime of all time
Just like how Shinsekai Yori and Psycho Pass perfectly compliment each other
I can disagree with the community
Nah those are just FMAB tards keeping it at the number 1 spot
lets pretend Psycho Pass's sequel seasons don't exist
S2 is mediocre
That's just mal. Not the entire anime community
S1 is anazing
More of a let down than plain garbage
I'm just saying I can disagree with the community on things
Like I'm not being elitist when I say I don't like 3-gatsu
It's just my opinion lol
It fell flat on its face unlike Shinsekai Yori which was able to pull together all its various plot strings at the end
I know plenty of people who dislike Sangatsu so you're not alone @solar dew
Shinsekai Yori is amazing
It sure is
Highly recommend it
The anime community is just amusing to me is all
Like Demonslayer movie outdoes Miyazaki
That's amusing to me
All 3 parts of the Traditional Song of Shadows from Shinsekai Yori all edited into one song.

Mugen Train outselling Ghibli movies shouldn't be surprising though.
I really need to watch that
From The New World.
Can’t believe I haven’t heard of it
Mugen Train is really good but definitely overhyped
Only Ghibli films that are up there for me are Howl’s Moving Castle and maybe Mononoke Hime
Its the movie sequel to a hot new shounen on the market adapted by a competent studio. Of course it would have wider appeal than a Ghibli movie
Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 is actually no.1 in box office now in JP
Though Mugen Train still remains in top 5
Also Eva is still only available in Japan
Ghibli is a big deal no?
I mean Miyazaki
They are, or they used to be. But can you say they have a wider market appeal than Shounen Jump?
Casual fans aren't gonna go to theatres to watch a new Ghibli movie, they don't even know what that is.
And those are the fans who pad the numbers in sales
It's weird cause Isekai replaced shounen in terms of popularity
In the earlier 2010s that was definitely the case
But after all the menial sao clones isekais have fallen off
I guess I'm out of touch
But to me I wouldn't think Demonslayer would be the best selling anime film
The only isekai in recent years which had stirred up some interest was Mushoku Tensei and that was only due to its high production value
SAO was not entirely bad.
But the flawed direction kinda makes it pepega so I can’t say it’s good
I would. It makes the most logical sense
Popular shounen outselling lesser known but better quality shows is no surprise
You'd expect Fate fans to show up
Its a surprise if its the other way around
You think the number of Fate fans is more than battle shounen fans? @solar dew
I mean were Dragon Ball Z and Naruto movies selling like hotcakes?
Of course they weren't. You think their production is on par with ufotable?
Fate has too many installments
🤔
People didn't go to theatres to experience DS's compelling story lol. They went to see ufotable put on a spectacle
^^
If Fate has wider appeal then more people would know about Heaven's Feel
I understand that Demonslayer is a popular show, but I underestimated them being worthy of being the best selling anime movie of all time
And I dont think it's worthy
Its a shame since the HF trilogy of movies is truly ufotable's visual magnum opus
Something fun and easy to get into is always going to outsell something complex but way more carefully written. Its just how it is
Just put a simple direction and slap beautiful animation
I'm curious if they made an Attack on Titan movie... would it win?
AoT movie. God I don't want to imagine that
People have moved on from Dragon Ball long ago
Like Demonslayer is this unstoppable force in Japan
Its just the western fans who still fondly keep in touch with it
Japan moved on from DB
I think im just out of touch
Hmm
Those won’t blow up
A relatively new series is best anime film
Lol I think they can make do with just 24 episodes
If they put out as much effort as JJK then it’ll be awesome
But I heard it’s gonna be full CGI?
Like Dorohedoro
Fujimoto may release an anime original story of CSM
After Mugen Train's success everyone is hopping on the bandwagon of movie sequels/prequels
Eh, I feel Chainsaw Man wouldnt have the broader appeal needed to beat Demon Slayer.
Don't get me wrong, great series, but its tone/gorey visuals definitely makes it harder for some to get into it like Demon Slayer's more classical story (hunting japanese demons and whatnot)
I’m surprised it’s gonna get a Part 2
I doubt any series is beating DS in terms of sales anytime soon
Tru
Not even JJK eh?
The manga sale math is insanely in Demon Slayer's favor vs literally anyone else
KnY sales were up in the 70 million copies range while JJK was around 5 million
Thats monthly btw
Mhm
Like... an order of magnitude bigger
^thats sales in a year
Woah
It spiked to 70 million a month after the movie iirc
God, even if the ending for KnY is garbage they still wanna buy it
That's crazy
Just a single month
fr lol
Apparently the mangaka is returning to give it a more conclusive ending
Expecting an anime original ending for KnY
Oh that’s great!
There's rumours AoT is getting an anime original ending as well
Since the manga ending was so obviously rushed due to deadlines
Oh yea the manga ending for AoT
Rofl
Every time I see people hyping up AoT S4 P2 or in general
I die on the inside
Even before the movie, it sold 12 million volumes in the last two months of 2020 (again, referring to that list and seeing what the second highest manga sells in a year for comparison)
Shit's insane
^that was from the anime dropping, for context
Yeah i know. I doubt we'll see any series come close to its sales in this decade or even the next
Now with all the Mugen Train money hopefully ufotable can stop their tax evasion schemes
Yeh, its the perfect mix of action and strong ties to traditional Japanese folklore that makes it perfect for their market. The most mass appeal of mass appeal you can get.
Source?
My friends are asking
Let me try to pull up the article again
Expected to provide much more insight to what happened in the ending
And the anime adaptation will go take further steps to flesh out the story, but thats a given since ufotable is doing it.
That may be true for the manga, im not sure for the anime version of DS though.
Or even AoT for that matter
My man Isayama did say he wanted to hurt and betray ppl or sum in an interview
Also that article is November 2020, seems it’s been out since lol
https://www.reddit.com/r/KimetsuNoYaiba/comments/k76yz0/volume_23_extras_cut_content_from_chapters_204/
Yep it’s this
Don't check reddit that much so I don't know about that
@shadow knot is that the stuff which got cut from the official release?
Hmm that could very well be it but I'd like to think that the new stuff will be an official release
Rather than the director's cut version
We'll see. Honestly don't care about KnY that much so I haven't been keeping up with the news
I hid under the hype and only watched it recently lol
Only knew about the manga ending
I also hid under the hype
Still gave it a great rating because production is pog
Like 7.5 for both the anime and movie
Still have yet to find an anime movie for a series that wouldnt have been better as episodes instead
There's some good original anime movies, but so far, all the ones that spawned from ongoing series just leave me going "this could have just been an arc in the season"
Reminds me of Initial D Final Stage.
Could've been a movie like the Third Stage but instead it's a season of four episodes lol
Which seems like a fine direction
But a movie would've made more sense
Goblin Slayer's movie for me.
25 minutes of recap, and 1 hour just for a random arc
@topaz linden oh wait forget I said Goblin Slayer, I misread your question cuz the wording was kinda confusing
anyone know what show shes from?
Shibisaki Kazuha from Girlish Number
ah was about to answer
Never even seen the anime lol
😿
Just experienced at tracking down obscure waifus
Yall are the true anime people
It's really easy, just keep searching and searching
I don't know wtf is Girlish Number
Reverse image search plus keyterm searching is key
In this case, "purple long hair girl laughing" pulled this up as like the 5th result
wtf is even that
I assume a number that's girlish?
I can send you my AniList if you want.
I don't watch a lot but I basically know a lot of plot to a lot of anime I personally didn't complete like Death Note and etc
i meant this lol idfk tech or google snifoB qth
pretty sure i watched that anime and thought it was average
Nah you literally just search up anime girl laughing
Then you see links of her and it says her name and anime
Oh, Google Images (images.google.com) lets you upload an image, and it will search copies of that image on the internet
Really handy feature
Dew it!
oh yeah! i tried it once but then they would always show me like instagram and ther media posts/profiles
never told me the anime name so i gave up and just did extreme digging to find it lol
99% of the time, you gotta tell it to filter out pinterest lol
Tho sometimes the pintrest person actually links their source
ahhhhh
so you can still get lucky
ok that makes a lot more sense
ty goated
You mean you don't already have a custom made spreadsheet for this?

Amateur hour over here
(joking)
Bruh lmao
lmao
...listen, I get very bored sometimes, okay?
This was someone's
Interesting approach to tracking anime
Like bruh MAL and AL is right there
@topaz lindenCan I see ur spreadsheet senpai man
I like how this dude got Honobono Log anime as a 10/10
Like bruh 15 minutes of fluff really that pog?
trying to find more animes to line up after what im watching
LMAO HONOBONO LOG????
the 2 min episodes got a 10/10
nani
I mean I agree, and a 10/10 can be out of guilty pleasure
But I gave it a 6
Secretly a cute 9/10 watch ig
eh i thought it was kinda cute but it was way too short for anything above average
Yea it's literally a short anime adapted from a book
Yee yee, one sec
Send it here JakeFromStateFarm
I shall evaluate your vibes
Literally been a minute since I've been to an anime chat that makes me stay to chat lmao
This is me with Love, Chuunibyou and other Delusions tbh. In my head, I know the series is like an 8 at best, most likely a 7...
but god, I love it.
One of my top 5 favorites
the chuuni is too strong
I can see for Chuunibyou, it's quite a nice series KyoAni put out
10 is fine
But in my case, one of my 10s is Cautious Hero
oh wow that's kinda surprising
Hard to justify other than pointing out the consistent enjoyment I got from it
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1shb5sL0aFKrWi4KrSQeeNzy_pg60907abVI7ZyE_Nws/edit?usp=sharing
Good ol Google Sheets
also has my manga on there too
And someday my LNs once there's some that actually fucking finish lol (I only rate completed series)
Oh fuck for a second I thought you have like 500 series watched
did u not update everything you've ever watched?
But even approaching 250 titles completed a lot of people say that's a lot
From ur knowledge I was expecting like 500+ lol
The problem is for manga, most go on for years.
And for anime, I've watched quite a few, but only will rate ones I've completed
Half-watching or dropping an anime doesnt really feel to me like I have a right to rate it.
Ahhh- I try to finish an anime I start it doesn't feel right to drop them for me
(Tbh, its mostly I have a lot that I'm like... 70% through and will finish someday lol)
last few seasons have been too packed
I even stuck through that shit known as Fairy Tail like almost 500? i think episodes
anime trauma
I only dropped 2 anime but I'm gonna pick them back up soon
Citrus and Milfsekai
Oh god, Milfsekai was so bland
Munou na Nana and Enen no Shouboutai too
you MIGHT AS WELL drop milfsekai that stuff was hot garbage
dropped that by ep4 or 6... cant remember which
Dropped episode 2
Might as well complete it to give it a 1
Maybe 2 if the ecchi is pog
only have one 1 in my completed list so far lol
They have to really fuck up in a way that lasts to get that low
if its just boring or bland, it ends up in the 2-4's for me
1 is a "fuck you, and fuck you for making me read/watch this"
Hidden Dungeon? That's like the only one I see that's a 2
Nah, Manga has the only 1
where's the 1 at?
Dome-fucking-kano
HAHA
oh god
That fucking ending
Its been nearly a year, and I still get worked up if I think about it too long
To be fair I applaud it for having a Brazzers plot but done extravagantly
bruh
okay THAT was a banger
DomeKano: The drama that keeps on giving
It gets a 1 cause it almost redeemed itself in the end. It got my hopes up, then truck-kun'd them into a coma.
i could listen to the opening for a whole day and not get sick of it
The crushed hopes are what earned it the 1
OP is an absolute banger tho
Yea just reading through JakeFromStateFarm's spreadsheet
- Fine list, usually the kinds of lists I see but the notes you made for each installment makes it worthwhile reading
- Lots of high scores, stagnating to an 8 or a tad higher
I'm gonna assume it's enjoyment based almost 100% of the time, so that's fine
Sidenote: Watch older anime
🍿
Other sidenote: Props for watching Cop Craft. Never heard anyone aside from an elitist I talk to and you who watched it
It's also a bit biased by what goes on the list. I only put shows I've completely finished on there... so none of the stuff ive dropped
Oh man I need to put some dropped anime too
Hidden Dungeon was a... painful watch to finish the last few episodes lol
It had like, 1 good episode. So I thought I'd watch the rest and see if there were any more
Hint: There were not.
Yea that's fine, I held a lot of bias for a couple of series
I still can't let go for aobuta
I tried lowering it but I can't
Which one is aobuta again?
Bunny Girl Senpai
Oof
ah
I have to restrain myself
I really liked that one 😅
The anime that doesn't take itself seriously but throws you off with feels in the last few
That's Bunny Girl Senpai
I even rewatched it. As much as I wanna change my mind because I know it's not the greatest
I still really liked it so much
Note: Have not yet watched the movie. After that ending... I want to be in a less stressful/better place before I watch it
I had the movie at a 10 at some point but I lowered it to a 9
OH
YOU GOTTA WATCH THE MOVIE
no way u didnt watch the forking movie
and in a way where you feel guilty for feeling sad about it
I like good acting 🤷♂️ its why I have Supernatural Battles as high as it is
The "I don't understand" scene is carrying that anime so fucking hard on my list
Mhm
https://youtu.be/nHd3xfDzTg8 Still one of the most impressive breakdown scenes I've seen in anime.
and according to the studio, she did that in one take...
One of the greatest voice acting performances!

OHHHH
I just realized
That was the scene you're talking about
I've watched it multiple times
Still surprised Trigger made this anime???
The anime itself was mediocre to me but that scene was a 10/10
Yea I heard it's kinda gas but that scene carried the series
Apparently the VA also did it first take so that was just mindblowing
From my list
A generic setting saved by well-placed humor and acting that is much better than the setting deserves.
that's actually no cap lol
Literally my only memories of that series are that scene and the "caught on the computer" scene
Highlighted in red too
Jesus... watched it again since I posted the link and why not...
2:24 still gets me fucking misty eyed and I havent watched the series in more than 5 years
ye
that rating is staying right where it is
mhm I can feel that sentiment, credit where credit's due
yeh, I've seen a few anime take a shot at character breakdowns, and it's really hard to do it convincingly
That breakdown is one of the fine modern ones nowadays
Usually the build ups helps a lot, like for instance Subaru's breakdowns
But I'm assuming there was like no build up aside from that MC's edgy personality affecting her
There was a bit of buildup, but only if you look back on it knowing it was going to happen. Which kinda puts you in the same shoes as the MC I suppose.
It didn't feel particularly out of character for her when I watched it at least
Yeah, one thing Re:Zero has down to a T is characters breaking down lol
Another good one that happened recently was the ||ending scene|| of Talentless Nana. An ok show, but the performance for that was really well done
Personal favourite was when he broke down to Echidna when he can finally say to someone that he can respawn
Was that regarding ||Michiru||?
yee
I heard that shit hits, but ik the series kinda stagnates to a decent flow for experience overall.
In the server I frequent in
Literally everyone's watching it weekly but I was the only one that dropped it
Then when it finished and a person or 2 decided to catch up to the manga they're like ehh
major Talentless Nana spoilers for anyone else reading:
||https://youtu.be/i9uWCjzk_Rs?t=77||
I like how instead of just passionate screaming, they mix in the softer sounds that really sell the feeling
Bro everyone was like
when they see Michuru licking her
Flashback bit ends at 1:17 if youtube time linkin dont work
Some needed immediate bonking

but yeh, generally, with anime I nerd out over two things: Good voice acting, and good animation.
Honestly, you can have a shit story with those two things, and I'll probably still love the shit out of it
hell, even just one of those two is enough sometimes if its good enough lol
Yea I can figure haha
Kinda the same for me too, I value production by a great amount too, may it be audiovisuals, animation or even voice acting
Lowkey, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime doesn't get nearly as much appreciation as it deserves for its sound design
Wait what?
This is the first time I've heard of someone complimenting Tensei for sound design
Show me a clip or 2!
^Season 1 That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime spoilers
Unironically one of my top three "character breakdown" scenes.
For context (if you havent seen it) the character ||basically has been holding back a demon for years, and she realized she was getting to old to hold it back any longer, so she was about to set off to go die in the wilderness. But the spirit broke free before she could set off, since she stopped in the town too long||
I finished watching the clip
The sound design is really good here
That 3rd second had me tensed a little
Everything else? I didn't know their sounds were like that!

"How much bass do you want?"
"Yes."
of slime? no, part 1 of season 2 is done
but Honestly, you can watch it and be fine. It ends its arc at a nice stopping point
Season 2 is a 2 cour series (so 25 episodes)
so part one is 13 episodes
But yea bro I swear someone from David Productions must've worked on Tensei's sfx LMAO
You might also like her "You messed with my buddy's town" punch from later in the season 👀

Literally Cautious Hero used that same sfx for Rosalie's father's light sword
yee, slime's basically the epitome of "A generic story done well"
It's not doing anything new to the genre (at least... not until the later arcs several seasons from now), but what it does do, it does with a pretty high polish
...outside of some pacing issues
Wouldn't be surprised if there was some overlap lol
Like a lot of shows, the animation quality declined a little in Season 2, but Season 1's fights had some really nice and smooth animation too
I meant overlap as in staff lol
It does sound pretty much identical to me too
See:
For someone who also appreciates sound design I'm surprised you haven't seen Fire Force or Jojo
Fire Force is pretty high up on my Plan to Watch list
Couldn't get into Jojo tho...
mhmmm
I put it in the same category as Monogatori. You either really love it, or just get weirded out/don't like it at all.
Monogatari is class
That's where Bunny Girl Senpai took inspiration from
Love is War did a really nice parody of it in the second season lol
❖ Subscribe for more ❖
Episode 4 of Love is War Season 2 was just released and some of it is a monogatari reference.
Here's the source of original comparison video:
https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/gdbpa0/kaguya_sama_s2_episode_4_comparison/
I just found out the one person who re-arrange the clips, here's its YT channel:
https://www.yo...
But at least the latter is more approachable because Monogatari is too creative and unique af for the normal viewer
Yea I've recognized a lot of their references in S2
Due to copyright I wonder how they'll do the Discord and Among Us references if they get to that part somehow
Chaos and Amogus of course
Like ik the Mario Kart one was in the manga but they changed it in the anime
They'll browse and play them in WcDonalds
WcDonalds > McDonalds
(fuck that took 3 edits)
But yea for Jojo the first 9 or 10 episodes (aka Part1 ) is the least bizarre and kinda chill of them all considering the 1800s setting and "origin story" atmosphere
That's where a lot of people don't feel it, but once they get into Part 2 they'll usually have fun watching it!
Manager-senpai and New Worker-san is still an excellent and wholesome ship https://youtu.be/ebPd26u9n-A

HAHA
Sophisticated eh
I get bored from time to time, okay? 😅
Also, it makes it a lot easier to make reccomendations lol
Spreadsheet format is interesting styll ngl
^
Astra lost in space as 10 is subjective yeah?
I’m on mobile so can’t really see the spreadsheet correctly rn
My anime tastes are like a box of chocolate
Favorite Objectively (Production value, animation, overall storytelling):
- Mob Psycho 100
- Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
- Kaguya-Sama: Love is War
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
- Made in Abyss
Favorite subjectively (Personal enjoyment)
- Love, Chuunibyou and Other Delusions
- Re:Creators
- Beyond the Boundary
- Konosuba
- Tie between GATE and Bakemonogatari
Nah, Astra is objective imo. Even if you don't like the story, the directing and pacing of it was really well done.
You never know whatcha gonna get
Nice Bake
Violet Evergarden was like good but that’s it for me lmao
