because carbs and sugar are the cheapest ingredients, and you get tons of those in cheap food (and they are easily stored by the body when you consume large amounts). So you fatten yourself without getting healthy nutrients. Additionaly, body will still signal you that it needs more nutrients, which you would subconsciously recognize as a craving for more food, so you eat more to satisfy your needs. Food that is rich with vitamins and nutrients is more expensive (and usually can't be stored for long so much less convenient if you are poor).

depends. Attention span doesn't change for a person, the only thing that changes is their inherent bias, they would focus on some things for longer than others, but on average if entries have the same level of interest to them a person would spend similar amount of time on evaluating these entries
And if you mention that people can view pictures much faster, it only shows why Twitter is not designed towards artists, because the entry in question should probably be a gallery, at which point a user would spend a bit more time exploring your entry
Providing audience with a single picture is like giving them a couple seconds of a music track and expecting them to stay (which is possible but unlikely)

well, thing is, this was a "first episode", but it was the length of a full god damn hour. And the production quality didn't falter the entire airtime, i think we'll be fine 
btw, making first episode this long was such a smart call, the way it was written, you are left with too many teases and questions before they give you the HOOK of the story by the end of this 1 hour. pacing would've felt a bit off if they had to cut this episode into 3.
