Then the entire story would be of him trying to get the perfect fight shots, while remaining anonymous or else he'll lose his job

I am talking compared to in-game animations, which look great and within range of reason. These animations are just over the board. I only read the manga (which is marvelous and put me to tears and only keeps getting better with the artwork) but the skating scenes in S1 look pretty impressive. One of the best 3DCG examples I’ve personally seen in anime by far.

I’ve heard some questionable liberties were taken with the anime in terms of showing how the female protagonist was bullied (it gets omitted and glossed over in the anime somewhat) and how the protag’s mom seemed weirdly more ignorant in the anime compared to the manga over the details of how her daughter would getting involved with the sport
But I’ll need to see for myself if that’s the case eventually

well, ofc internet spoiled a very interesting story turn of the anime, I am not surprised. Tbh, when I saw it in the anime I was really surprised. Rarely, RARELY anime goes into the area of body damage or ugliness, but the story in this anime is basically narrated around the somewhat disabled MC (he is really struggling with stuttering).

We were shown that he likes torn clothes (a style preference), then we were shown that he uses a phone with a cracked screen. In the last episode, where this scene is depicted, we have been shown that at some point in his training (or maybe actually dancing on a stage) he has broken his front teeth. Meaning, he is THAT much dedicated to dancing (he is a break dancer and it's a very traumatic type of dancing at the professional level)

I never said I expected great quality out of this particular segment tho. I just said it looks noticeably off-putting for the reasons stated above. I never commented once about the choreography or the mocap. Whenever I do talk about the show (and times where you’re in the same discussion here prior when this show was first starting to air) it’s always been during similar sequences too with its transitions. We don’t have to turn this into a whole discourse past that, bc I frankly don’t have the energy or interest for it tbh (since I actually agree with some of your arguments on that end).

Slime: logical progression of events, MC makes logical decisions based on previous encounters with anticipation of future encounters. Usually in stories those are quite limited, MC doesn't remember stuff that happened 10 episodes ago and can't project his plans more than 10 episodes forward. I would say, Slime has pretty casual politics that are decently depicted. It integrates well into the citybuilding part
Like making the roads you need to actually make them lead SOMEWHERE
and slime depicts that well
It integrates the big picture really well, almost without making it too big to digest for the viewer (well, it still struggles a bit with notorious "general assembly" story arcs where they sit in a room for episodes straight)
