Personal favorite and one that's probably next on my watch list after To Be Hero X and Link Click is Chao Neng Lifang: Chaofan Pian.
It's the animator's first published tv work/their first directorial debut, and everything I've seen of it so far looks incredible

Generally I think most assume OVAs as sort of unimportant side content that's more SoL than actual story.

Whereas with movies and seasons, you expect your usual story beats

Cant recall the last time an OVA had actual action/drama in it aside from when that was the joke of the episode (like Chuunibyou's random OVAs about mecha fighting)

When p3 released, it was a mess, but it was a godly mess, because they invented the Social link system, basically streamlining Visual Novel experience into something new and genius. So ppl were willing to forgive many shortcomings. Since you needed proper personas to advance social links, and you got personas from Tartarus grind, that was the thing that made the grind fun. The social system was so rewarding that you could easily put up with the grind for it

It was more than that. The whole process is more streamlined and gamyfied and more engaging. Breaking it into short stories, making it a part of the whole school experience. You really had to be there and be a Visual Novel fan to get struck down by that new game mechanic and narration invention.
