I dont think I can think of a single manga that got a novelization later, they almost all start as an adaption of one.
Only series I've seen where the light novel came last were some novelizations of some anime originals (Ex: Vivy got a light novel a year or two after the anime aired)

The latter is closer to the manga, while the former ties in better with the narratives unique to the 03 version (03 version added a bit more race-focused narratives for the empire than Brotherhood)

Imo, 2003 has slightly better character writing, but as a cohesive piece (taking everything into consideration), the polish on brotherhood just makes it so much nicer/enjoyable as a package

I would say the biggest merit is the intricate plot. The author really spent a whole lot of effort to craft a ton of nuances, foreshadows and interconnections. It's pretty slowburn, since it doesn't start to unravel until the end of the first season. And by unravel I mean tentatively starting to show the bigger picture. Like a small part of it

Iirc, part of the issue is that the cult is international and he's restricted in his ability to leave the country (other countries rightfully see him as dangerous), plus the cult works in a lot of sneaky ways he isnt aware of.

Re Zero s3 is so bad. S1 and s2 at least had something going for them. S3 is just some Indian drama where they don't even dance to make it more engaging. They do sing though. There was exactly ONE good episode this season in terms of story writing. It was really good so might just worth it to see the show

Tbh, the direction of the first episodes in Solo Leveling are one of the best out there (funny thing, SAO first episodes were also genius when it released). Very memorable and every aspect is working to tell a story

Truth is, Solo Leveling is defined by conflicts with opposition and antagonists. I would say antagonists are very well written and make the anticipation of the inevitable clash rather interesting. But otherwise, the characters are mostly bland and the ones that are somewhat good are set up only to literally be completely ignored by the story later

Still very poorly written w/ how vague it is, but not some super specific "fuck you anime!" law

- Sec 43.235.43.26:
"material containing a depiction that appears to be of a child"
The bill goes on to state that there's no actual requirement for it to be a child, so short/flat-chested adult characters theoretically are included (Futaba from My Senpai is Annoying comes to mind)
- Sec. 43.21.a.1
"the average person, applying contemporary community standards,"
This part in other Texas laws has generally ended up meaning it's up to if the judge feels like it
- Sec. 43.21.C.2:
"Material" means anything tangible that is capable of being used or adapted to arouse interest, whether through the medium of reading, observation, sound, or in any other manner"
Given that that one internet rule they made an entire website around is a thing, this is a pretty low bar to clear.
TL;DR: Another "think of the children" law with overly broad definitions that almost certainly will be used unequally and inconsistently (and in this case, it's not even protecting actual kids...)
And of course they make it go straight to a felony for maximum chilling effect on anyone whose content comes even has the chance of being interpretted that way (For example, Horimiya technically would be included in this as both characters are <18 )
