then play the pc port
I will just check if I can pirate it if I feel up to it
Been playing lots of Reus 2, Against the Storm, Age of Wonders 4
Time consuming stuff
These are good games, but not the ones I enjoyed most. Most VNs are about character development, so if you don't enjoy it, VNs wouldn't really be that interesting
i like watching lets plays of danganronpa but not actually playing it
VNs are just super dull (most are just still pictures as far as I know) in comparison what pure text might help me imagine
only vns i remember actually enjoying playing were all zero escape games (2nd one was my fav), first corpse party (which is moreso an rpgmaker type thing than a proper vn), and ghost trick (which also is mostly a puzzle game)
Think I've heard of corpse party before
i played it cuz a friend said it's one of their favorite ips and wanted to try
i was very pleasantly surprised
i didnt expect to like it as much as i did
kinda dissapointed sequels are just traditional vns tho
i liked the rpg maker top down move your character around type of gameplay
Oh it's fucking 10 years old no wonder I've heard of it
pewds played it back in the day
His playthrough would be at the time when I didn't even know English yet lol (10 years ago)
I did that and played browser games
Still remember few shit gems I spent my fucking life years on
I miss Miscrits.....
The problem with VNs they are really slow burners. The best titles I know would take 5-10 hours before they finish the exposition and start something interesting
also wait kvit
you said you like pokemon
so you shouldnt have a problem with ds emulators no?
Sorry but that sounds seriously miserable, that's why I liked Lovecraft's works and Metamorphosis lol
I never owned a Nintendo console
Any console, for that matter
hence why i asked
Out of official ones I only ever played Pokemon emerald on my phone emulated
Yeah sucks being poor back in childhood
Not really. It's a delayed gratification, by setting up everything in the beginning authors are free to move with their story blazingly fast later on.
When manga stories often have pace drops at unfortunate moments in the middle of action
i mean i didnt have one either growing up
but i played on pc emulators a lot
I mean I agree somewhat but I always expect games in particular to show off their best most attractive part right away so I don't feel like I am wasting time, books can take as much setup as they want I don't really have huge problems with that but games either have to be super good or comically bad to be enjoyable imo
I think I already named the fan games I've played before, shit's is legit good and I still regularly watch like 1-2 YT people about pokemon, like WolfeyVGC
gotcha
if you need help with setting stuff up feel free to dm
Nah I am good for time being, wanna max out collection in Reus 2 and play few more campaigns in Age of Wonders 4 first
Understandable, when you have a lot of great content readily available nowadays. Though most of that content is generally inferior to what VNs could offer
Well that's some big words
Also I have a pet peeve with re-playing things which turns me off from "Unlock several endings" part
I for the love of god can not fucking stand doing the same thing twice in a video game, I dropped many games because I had to clean up the same boring enemies or farm some shit to infinity again and again or read same dialogue
Going in the same place in The Surge so often completely killed any will to play it despite how cool it looked
But that's a me problem
Well that's a demerit of VNs imo too. Though so e VNs have self sufficient story arcs without requiring you to replay for the true ending
Strongest contenders being Warframe and World of Warcraft
Both got so fucking boring after certain time
Not really, it's a valid point, some VNs just don't implement the system well
Tbh, very few implement it well, and those are mostly not represented in other media because it is notoriously hard to render that kind of story in other mediums
From few playthroughs I watched some seemed to have save points? Are they not the norm?
In some. Others have timelines. Others don't really branch out but just tell a story
It's not about having saves or not it's about making a second or third playthrough different enough to make it interesting. In any case, the most interesting VNs were able to provide you a sufficient story via one playthrough, and then you can get back to the game some time later and get a completely different POV and playthrough with different choices
I just really can't get same experience as before when re-do something, I only ever rewatched 1 anime (TTGL) and it was just the last few episodes, game would have to impress me just as much if not more for second playthrough to be engaging
That's the point of redoing something is not to get the same experience. If you don't obsess with the initial experience you got, the repeat would just be as good. But either a game need to provide that difference or your own POV change needs to provide that difference
That's why I like rpgs with factions tbh, Pillars of eternity as different faction is a different game
Well, VNs work the same. Making a different choice is like choosing a different faction for the most part. A lot of VNs have such a good development that making a couple different choices would provide you with a completely different set of ideals and views on events and characters
Anyway, I understand not being interested in VNs. With much love I have for VNs it is pretty hard to pick them up, so it's understandably more hard for someone who didn't experience VNs properly
The best solution would be to find a VN that you actually like, but VNs are so different that it's really hard to do
I am just kinda on a fence for now, watched few videos about this or that game, lots of rpg maker horror trash (Shout out to ManlyBadassHero) some seemed good but not as much as to make me go buy it
I can suggest a VN that might be to your taste. It's called The Swan Song. Also, VNs are pretty badly represented in letsplays because you can't really skim the video to grasp how good the game is. You would need to just try it yourself
zero escape has the best implementation of the multiple endings thing ive ever seen in any video game ever
esp the 2nd game
Well, that comes from the best implementation of time/parallel universes travel in gaming. Btw, you can try Ever17 VN, it has a lot of good ideas in that realm too, but unfortunately it requires multiple playthrough to get to True ending, which is decently mindblowing
ive been meaning to try out more uchikoshi content in general just never really got around to it
i'll probably try somnium files first before anything else tho
Somnium files is a hit or miss tbh, it's great but not for everyone
I think uchikoshi and Danganronpa dev are cooking something together
WAIT
Lmao
I never knew EVER17 is uchikoshi
No wonder I thought they are similar
lmao
Well, it's like almost 10 years separate my playthrough of Ever17 and Nonary games, so no wonder I never made a connection
Am I tripping or is it NSFW?
Yes. But it's not about it
I am not even into post apoc that much tbh thought, I am much more likely to check out that time travel game
I generally don't play VNs for sexual content
There is nothing wrong with it
I think there is but I won't and probably can't discuss that with due how rules of this server are
Some ppl visit erotic sites, some ppl play erotic VNs, you can have a GF or a wife and do that too
Some of the best VNs have erotic content though there is an option to turn it off most of the time
Damn, this video might be the oldest thing on YT, stuff is 18 years old kekw. Was quite awesome at that time, still hits pretty hard https://youtu.be/5uz3yQmPsrY?si=l9NGxTcWbfdK_2_A
Opening to the visual novel Ever 17 - Out of Infinity
This and:
There’s a BIG difference between a VN that features adult content vs a VN centered around it (or really any media tbh)
Which I’ll leave at that
Kindergarten wars did their cutest chapter yet
While romance is cute let's get back to funnies
OFC THEY DID THIS, BIG spoiler for Oshi no ko
I am not surprised just think it's super funny
A random meme I saved to disrupt possible spoilers
is this for real?
Last page of newest chapter
I mean, ||no shot she ACTUALLY dies||
Thus I find page funny
crazy
😂
betting ||its another fakeout like that one chapter we thought akane almost died cuz she found out about too much stuff||
Oh 100%
DOOR CHAIN
Hush
It's too big of a hint to what I am trying to hide behind the spoiler
Hue hue hue
YOU'RE FUCKING KIDDING ME!! DOOR CHAIN
You can bring a cutter and cut a lot of door chains immediately
321zilch
Door chains may protect against a random burglar, but won't protect against a killer with a straightforward goal
Wait, did we have 2nd season of ONK or not?
Currently airing
Should be the theatre arc, I am talking manga
She needs to stop cosplaying her mother istg
Meanwhile kindergarten wars is wholesome again
As I said probably cutest chapter yet, hopefully now it's back to Illuminati and gags tho
Nujabes is so fucking good man
Thanks Samurai Champloo for letting me know of this genius
who?
Evanescent Angel
hmm
ok i haven't played ultrakill actually
Valkyrie of Hell
hmm
Dipshit
yea that will do
💀
Fallen Cocoglock
btw I'm recruiting unicorns, if you're a unicorn please reach out
Weirdo
@edgy bone I remembered a game that impressed me even more (or maybe equally as Nanory games). Aegis 13 sentinel. That story is INSANE. You start with "ok, what is this secondhand story" and end with "no way authors pulled off this insane shit"
What type of "unicorn" are you even talking about? The animal?
I just searched it up online and polyamory came up wtf
that's not what I meant at all 😭
I was hoping that you just ment the mythical animal (still weird?) but this word has many meanings nowadays
Some weird meanings too
yeah nah it's not that deep
Why would you need a mythical animal tho?
unicorns as in really cool people
Want to make horn powder for curing any illness?
My uni is corny I am all your Nikkor nee
panacea would be epic ngl
You are in a really bad place to look for such being in this discord
bruhjinson ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
I am big into mythical creatures, I had a big ass encyclopedia of monsters when I was 9 or 10 or smth, dopest shit ever for me at the time
Know all sorts of useless factoids
Hmmmm
Tough question, but ever since I made a power point about explosive mouse I've been in love with that concept
So, in Japanese mythology there is a mouse that just comes to you and fucking explodes itself
Funniest shit ever and appeared in like 2 pieces of media
ITS JUST A MOUSE
flag for a tail?
It inhales a lot of air and explodes
No, it's just a shrew
ew
So unnecessary bloody it's comical
michael bayify this
My favorite underappreciated monster is sentient axe that makes you cut your own limbs if you pick it up. Usually features a serf that ran out of wood in the winter and his own tool has broken and he conviniently finds this axe. Old fables are damn dark.
But if we talk a cool ass monster that's not talked about a lot it would be the Akhlut
i can't get over this now, mouse with a flag for a tail sounds so fucking cute i need to draw and spread awareness of this idea
Just trying to imagine this shit is legit terrifying it's inescapable for where it supposedly lives
i keep hearing people mentio n it every now and then
what it do
It's super good. Like you need to play it now kind of good.
If we talk cool this is the coolest shit ever
A BIG LAND ORCA
Mythologies over world usually does some boring serpent shit
oh I tried playing that one, got so bored out of my mind a few hours in I dipped
Inuit mythos is just fucking bonkers
But orcas are so fucking cool and this is so creative IMAGINE HAVING 2 FUCKING PREDATORS AND YOUR MYTHOS IS JUST COMBO OF THEM 😭
predators in question: orca, bear
Ah, honestly this is the first time in years I might badmouth a person for their opinion.
Orca wolf more so
ah icic
ok cool, people keep saying mindblowing story yadda yadda and then I see parallel universes and I'm like 💤💤💤💤
And for scary points I would honestly be a basic bitch and pick wendigo/skinwalker because mimicry is the scariest shit by a LONG shot
what can I do, story just didn't hook me in and I don't see what's so interesting about it
idk these
Maybe also that one human eating tree from Madagascar? I would shit my pants from that for sure
or was it time travel idrc
Well, if I say something here, it would be a huge spoiler, but I guarantee you is that this game is not what it seems and any preconception should be left behind
kind of important for me to have a character or two that keep me interested in the story, but all characters just seemed like bland archetypes or simply failed to interest me
They are like the normie monster for USA horror media nowadays
Popularized by r*ddit and 4chin
Also Until Dawn, very much popular because of that game
yeah honestly I don't watch american media usually
it's just kinda fucking bad 99.9% of the time
I haven't played that one but I heard it had wendigo and game was fairly popular
occasionally you get gems like Scavengers or Spiderverse or Breaking Bad, everything else is slop
Yeah whatever your opinion on that, I just like USA mythos cus it's very out of pocket shit with lots of human associated fuckery
I mean sure, whatever. I don't care if you skipped this masterpiece of a game, it's too spoilery to try to explain anything.
Like, every state has a boring boogyman and then there is the classic tale of what wendigo is and it's metal as fuck
u haven't played Disco Elysium either so we're even
He hasn't?
Eh?
wait have you? idr
Caveman, you are as random as AI, but AI at least remembers shit
i'll see. ive been meaning to go through the stuff i already have installed first cuz im kinda running out of storage space
sorry i failed the skill check, shouldn't have maxed into Shivers
give me one reason to play this
Nah
First playthrough went full into purple and I never related more to a character
i sleep then
Gn
My conspiracy and mythology autism never paid off more than there
I went into shivers and inner empire. Good shit.
inland*
Yep
Talking to things was routine to me, the only purple skill I didn't get is the one that has to do with police
i went encyclopedia and regretted everything
The fucking 🤓
second playthrough i found out about the necktie which was dope
Honestly didn't really like the necktie mf is annoying
Yes. This is the only thing I spoil to anyone whom I suggest playing Disco. Don't level Encyclopedia, that shit simply ruins you with trivia
that's cuz mf is you 😂
Learn blue for advanced racial debates /j
I speak more and much more randomly than that once in a blue moon creature
I am very hard to bond with person, I've known my roommate for 3 years and went through many hardships with him and I still don't consider him friend, so a necktie stood no chance
i should've delved into at least a few political thoughts there, cuz it looks like I missed some of the game
may try on next playthrough
Nah, I subscribe to Measurehead's racial theory every day /j The guy is so happy go lucky you can't help but cheer him on
yea the advanced racist
I just played how I feel irl and told everyone to go off themselves and just made fuckload of money
lmaoooo
I somehow got the centrist the liberal and the commie achievement in one (first) playthrough
what's your copotype
Devs clearly underestimated me
Sorry cop
expected
I wasn't mean to people for no reason, no gain from that
If that's the roommate who ate raw chicken liver for 1$, then I can understand why
Being mean to people makes me feel bad so I didn't do that
Nah my other one, he is chill but an incredibly boring person imo
he's just like me fr
He never had a PC or phone until 16 and is just into history and books 😴
Could not give less of a shit about history of politics
All in span of 2 days too lol
XDDDD
@dusty fable are there any meaningful morals/values/ideas etc to gain from playing aegis 13?
The point is that it has a very unique, maybe even singular POV on timetravel/parallel universes. It's more unique than Nonary games.
Parallel universes bleh
time travel and parallel universes, name a more woat duo
Time travel is awesome sauce
what about it
always devolves into parallel universes, fate, or butterfly effect, it's all so fucking boring
It makes story convoluted and still easy to follow, I would not watch a world of every single timeline though that sounds boring
Maybe. This story is a masterpiece of foreshadowing, not that it would be of much use
I think butterfly effect is actually very neat, but from the examples of shows with time travel in my head I remember neither parallel universe or fate
I think Link Click did time travel in the most interesting way so far that I have seen
steins gate
has them all
What this reminds me of, not relevant to conversation
Steins gate is also parallel universes
yea, and it has all the time travel tropes
Yeah it does have parallel universes but watching 0 is quite frankly optional and isn't necessary, don't remember "fate" being a factor tbh
"thing is going to happen" is not something I consider fate
Yeah. Aegis 13 is 200 years worth of foreshadowing xD
In my mind it's more about "Thing is GOING TO HAPPEN 100%"
something about not being able to change history, wasn't there a plot line about it too?
that's what I mean by fate
Well by that POV yeah it does include fate
The whole debacle with Mayuri's clock
Erm... Steins gate started as SciFi gag story, ofc it had all the tropes
gm cc
Gn
gm
What did you expect from the storyline that involves CERN as Great Evil and all starts with a timetraveling banana
As I said it's a good beginner show if said beginner can swallow first slow ass half
also microwave time travel
It has all the right ingredients to get you into anime!
Traps!
Children!
Creepy fat guy!
Tsundere!
Quiet girl!
Chunibiyoo character!
"Cat" girl too on technicality
actually she's not a tsubdere
Hyperbole
Obv the dude in cap isn't just a creepy fatso either
jk i get it
Kurisu Makise is totally tsundere wdym
I am oversimplifying for convenience
Red head too on top of that
Asuka but good
i don't see it

She became a partner scientist of a chuuni guy that has zero profile as a scientist, but denies that she appreciates his style. That's scientific tsundere
Yes, timetravel 40 minutes back, when you said that first time, so that you keep the integrity of the universe
Not until he says El psy kongru
bonus points for continuity
el psi kangaroo
🦘🦘🦘
The guy is definitely authors self insert considering how he actually ||saves the world and not that sorry ass of an MC||
We don't talk about that, as many flaws as stein's gate anime had it still a very solid if not great show which likely is even more filled in VN
VN is great because it also explains a lot of memes inside its own encyclopedia
It's probably dated by now it's now possibly more useful than ever lol
It marks the stuff and you can read up, because it memes jpn weeb culture a lot
Yes, pretty much
Like 1337 language. And haxxorz stuff.
Well, it has that inclination. The whole point was that || whatever MC does either Makisu or Tutturu girl are bound to die. ||But Fate is depicted there more like a force and not entity
Moreso, ||Tutturu girl dies in multiple ways, ||so it becomes sort of fated outcome
I guess yeah that's true
Well, there was a very good show called Fringe about parallel universes, that floped in the end but was very good. And recently there was DARK that I consider peak timetravel in terms of how much they managed to entangle it without losing a thread
guys
will bocchi the rock ever get another season
shes like
the ryan gosling of anime
😔
No, she is too shy to have a 2nd season
You should rename to COCODOOM
And change profile pic to kakadu
This guy is totally shooting Glocks Spartan style
Is there enough material?
If yes we can totally expect a season in several years
i thought there was
I dunno I am asking
There is a sub time travel plot which either involves time dilation from traversing space at speed limit or through cryogenic sleep.
There are a bunch of great books involving those
Nujabes technically invented lo-fi hiphop
I don't think he invented it
But nujabes 100% innovated and evolved the genre
jjk leaks ||nobara finally back|| lmao
I think I accidentally saw a jjk spoiler on my tl, for some reason, thanks twitter algorithm
At least now I know why that character is suddenly trending on my trending page, when another big ass event is happening in my country rn lmao
||idk why it took her like 60+ chapters to bring her back, the amount fans cope her not dead is just crazy||
||>out for 141 chapters (half the fucking manga)
Mentioned only twice in all that time
Never confirmed her status
Here she is btw alive and well Mr. Reader!||
Gege, you truly are an author
It took him ||126 to 267, aka half the manga...||
0 fucking characterization for said character too since it's been years since ||she supposedly died||
tbf I understand why gege do these
cuz he hates jjk
gege this gege that gege me a break
who tf is gege
and why do people keep talking about him
o jjk author
gege me a break is pretty clever tho, u gotta give me that
||it's been how many chapters since her death?||
141 as said above
more than lhalf of the manga
I mean we know Yuta supposedly the mc b4 itadori
and the editors ask gege to make new jjk and itadori as the mc
I actually want jjk more dark and solo rather than whole fucking school
the kyoto students are full of jokes
only Todo is the goat
todo really is the goat, anytime he's in a chapter its just golden
Call building a "School"
10 students total
And I am being charitable on that
It's more like 8 or smth
Calling Jujutsu High a school was super pointless, I dunno who asked Gege to make his shit about highschooler he clearly never wrote about it and never cared about it
all students in tokyo are 8
His next idol manga HAS to be goated otherwise I will disappointed to no end
idol manga?
He said he wants to finish JJK and make idol manga
He said it's his dream few years ago
That would be funny, especially if we look at how Gege treats women in JJK
Male idol manga would be hilarious if that were to happen
speaking of which, did yall watch oshi ko no s2??
Read the manga, will watch when it's fully out
Ending song is absolutely phenomenal for Oshi no ko this time around though
guys im trying to find a shoujo/josei manhwa which i read a long time ago and the only scene i remember from it is " the female leads family goes to a snowy region for holiday or smthng with another family which they know and female lead's brother/cousin someone takes her to the middle of an icy frozen lake or something in the dead winter night and tries to kill her by shoving her head into the small water opening and almost kills her but some one from her family comes and saves her and i think this gives her a phobia of water or smthng" sry for not being able to give any more info, this is the only thing i remember and ive been scouring all my bookmarks, entire disqus comments and skimmed thru stuff that i thought were the manhwa. still didn't find it. also I think one of her brothers who actually dislikes her has red hair feels sorry for her for the first time and starts to behave well with her.
thay is so crazy
Think I know the one. One sec
Maybe
tell me abt it.. i spent like over 8 hrs trying to search it xD
Yeah, 95% sure I found it
I've Become a True Villainess Chapter 43 is the flashback, 44 is the ML's sweet vengeance for it
yasssssssssssssssssssss...........holy hell.. u even got the ch
thanks a lot m8. time to reread it agane
I read up to the end of that arc, then set it aside in my "read when it's complete" folder lol
lmao.. i realised y i couldnt find it.. it wasnt bookmarked
Rip
i just keep jumping from recommendations in comick i forget to book mark em they r lost
You really do have extensive knowledge of many things
!!jake
What, why? (For jjk tho, i couldn't care less for oshi)
||gege brought Nobara back||
||jjk has been ass since that sukuna bs started||
Onk one was goated. ED for S2 hits different now
Knowing what the next ep of onk is going to adapt + the timing of this chapter really be a double whammy of sadge
I still believe OnK ended at ch 80
Mangaplus huffing and puffing trying to load 91 page of chapter 2 lmao
(It's that exorcism with guns and magic manga)
which reminds me
did u guys see that survey they put out?
Yeah that one is pretty funny
The "please gib money" survey
mfers really expecting its users to snitch
Also why ask for my country and other stuff
I have enough governments tracking me already
there's no option for "Because it has content that isn't available here"
which is pretty legitimate if you ask me
Okay it's holy yapfest (only 10-15 of this chapter had action) but I am liking the set-up so far
Exorcism but with A LOT of bureaucracy
I can't even tell much about characters because I feel like I am just following a story of a spec ops squad who do spec ops things
It's, good introductory chapter
This sounds so funny, if put into isekai context. Go to sleep and wake up in another world
So euthanasia isekai?
More like falling off a cliff or derail in the night kind of attraction
Spirit Chronicles already did this

Wow Kingdom has such a good first chapter
@cinder fern so thing with Sakura is that
She actually had an ABSURD amount of innate talent. Even had a peculiarly unique alignment.
iirc The Makiri have a method of artificially implanting Magic Crests via Crest Worms. But this wasn’t always a sure fire healthy way since even Kariya (Shinji’s include) had a horrible time making use of them, granted he also left the mage life himself years ago. Sakura was pretty strong so she fared much better (physiologically ofc) than he did.
No idea what franchise y'all talking about
Fate
Ah, so many names lol
huuuhhhh ur reading it now ain't no way
actually you're in luck cuz the current arc is going to be the longest arc in the manga
most likely
I am not even going to try and catch are you crazy
I will read like 1-2 maybe 3 arcs to see if I like it
804 chapters!
fair
It's literally week+ of just reading
I have university and currently job seeking I can't just sit and read allat
tbh
job seeking is like 90% time waiting
for a response that never comes
uni i get it
I am currently in a very tight spot in life so I want a short distraction from cruel reality not a binge of 804 chapters (some of which seem even longer than 20 pages)
Yeah simple fun sometimes is awesome
Better not have any rules at all than try to find excuses to not follow them later
TTGL is literally "Power of friendship" the anime and I loved that
||Gojo learning rct because he was about to die is an asspull but it's so fucking sick||
Jjk s2 spoilers I guess
Tbh ||hardly an asspull we knew he would survive the encounter but yeah getting stabbed a 100 times and just regenning that IS stupid||
||ofc we knew the whole arc is a flashback but yeah it's bs
||
It sure is convenient making a character "He is just special like that"
Can he stop with the dear
damn name of the manga?
Competition for the unfunniest 2 pages I've seen
Maybe it's just very badly translated
I can't say if the original is any more engaging/less boring, but the nonsensical phrasing is almost certainly bad (probably machine) translation
You see this pretty commonly in Chinese manhuas since good CN translation is both incredibly hard and incredibly rare lol
My guess is machine translation + word by word for some of them ("dear me" feels like they translated some title/honorific literally)
If I had to guess, yeah
The bastard part and the front and back I can't make heads or tails of
I'd probably guess some Chinese idiom that doesnt translate well lol
They're full of random sayings
Same, reads completely unnatural
I remember watching "Oh spare me great lord" and every fucking nuance and idiom was explained by a big fucking box of text so I wouldn't miss the joke, up to 4 boxes at the time to explain societal nuances
Just found it, I feel like the guy translating that was more China loving than some Chinese
Like imagine un-ironically adding a 6 sentence long box on your screen saying shit like
"The joke of main character not selling smelly tofu to this man in particular is because he previously sold it to people who looked poorer than said man and thus he humiliated him and now he can ask for higher price so his pride and social status could stay the same. This is important because....."
I am just making talking out of my rn ofc but they did have an episode of MC selling smelly tofu, it was funny
I thought this was a deliberation on having a three-way sex
I can't tell cause it's so poorly done
Alright, the only thing that dear me doesn't have the answer is: don't you have better things to read? xD
The way they draw foreigners is just normal people
That's not foreigners that's Dean Sam and Cass
Damn I didn’t know they were Japanese
Who the fuck brought the supernatural cast into a manga was the scoobidoo episode not enough
Gaphid
Yes supernatural had a scoobidoo colab this is not a joke
I had my theories

Bro in the left looks like Spike Spiegel
he's not a native that's why he sounds like this
it's on purpose
yea stuff like this can really take you out of the reading mode, and it's particularly problematic with Chinese idioms
better to find an English equivalent and keep the meaning
Oh
Well
I dunno still not funny
yea that's cool, comedy is pretty subjective
I guess in context it would have a better effect, cuz his garbled speech contrasts pretty well with common speech, it just jumps out at you like that
back to reading slop
Kimi ni todoke is out! LESSS GOOO
Honestly? As much as it disrupted the flow of the episode the little insights were really fun to read about
Which one
fair
kimi ni todoke already has dub, have funnnn
Im sorry did i read that right? The gap to s2 and s3 is 13 years????
There were multiple?
The original ofc
Didn't finish the sinbad one
Too mid for my taste
which anime?
Kimi ni todoke
could be.

I like the cosplayers
Possibly Yuri?
Nvm it's a white haired dude
Another "Who?" Author
Yuh
It's pretty shit first chapter
Well, first 47 chapters of Kingdom have been very good I think I will return to read it some more once I have the time, mfs be dying left and right tho lmao
No, if you are not an AI?
Understanding how hands work is a nightmare alone when drawing tbh
The way the hands turned out in this shows they have a good understanding of how hands work
But it still could've been a nightmare trying to make them look good
Hands is easier because it's one of the first things artists practice to draw and we also have a good example in front of us all the time
What
The first thing I've ever seen anyone practice drawing and focus on first is eyes, but I'm sure there's some who do hands first
And we do have a good example in front of us and online in photos and other art but the caveat to that is understanding how it works
Without the basic understanding (whether able to be articulated or not) of how the hand works and how skin folds and shadows fall, it wouldn't look as good
And may come off weird
It's why a lot of people draw hands and you see like... Weird amalgamations meant to represent hands
Or people hiding them in their art altogether
Same with feet
And I say this as someone who's been in the artist community for a long ass time now
And has had plenty of online interactions with other artists and their struggles with drawing certain stuff or their progress in getting to do so well with certain features
But even in school, I always saw people drawing nothing but eyes as practice in their notebooks
And one person who practiced figure drawing
That's the point behind drawing either eyes or hands. The same thing as drawing vases or cubes. It teaches you to draw visible surfaces by understanding invisible ones, either anatomy or the invisible side of an object
Well, ofc there are other reasons too, but this is one of the most important ones. Can't draw an eye without understanding that it's a sphere
Yes, and what I was saying is most people I've ever spoken to have started with eyes and loathe hands lol
To the point where they'll even go out of their way to hide the hands so they don't have to go through the effort of drawing them, even if they tend to turn out good
I don't "draw" draw but fosho hands are definitely one of the very challenging body parts to draw
Well, that's why you need to start with hands, so that you don't loathe them. Hands are as beautiful as eyes
yoshikage kira moment
They require a lot of practice for a lot of people which is why caveman is so astounded by how well it turned out in that panel lol
And that's what I was trying to explain
They require a lot of practice, which is a lot of work and frustration for a lot of people
They are challenging, but are easier to learn to draw, since you can watch your hand move at any time. Pretty sure if you ask an amateur artist to draw a hand or a backside of an ankle, they would have an easier time with the hand, also because ankle anatomy is not much easier than hand
Everything in drawing requires a lot of practice, either it's ellipses or hands, there are no shortcuts there. Ppl being lazy about some aspects of drawing is no excuse tbh, but it's fine for an amateur artist, but not for a pro
I want to ask something and I hope it doesn't come off as rude
But are you saying this from personal experience, conversing with actual artists, or is this a solid assumption
Because learning to draw through observations is a very basic and common tactic to learn how to draw but that does not mean that it is any easier just because you can see it
A lot of people still struggle with it for a reason regardless as to how often they can just look at it themselves
I had enough opportunities to talk to artists. My aunt was a teacher in an art school, and I talked to a lot of her students as well. It was a long time ago, so not sure how often this specific topic came up, but it did a bunch of times. I don't deny that hands are a complex subject to draw and that ppl have issues drawing it, but there are more opportunities to practice drawing them than many other anatomical parts
I guess I just studied more old-school way of drawing, including portraits, that put emphasis on hands as well, because hands represent your character a lot
Yeah, but that also means it can still be a nightmare for artists to draw really good hands without it being AI lol
Ok. What if I posit that it can be a nightmare to draw a really good facial expression. What's your opinion?
most artists actually start with basic shapes, fruit and bowls have been a staple for beginner art for a long time
at least if you're taught in a class
trad
Well, yeah, if you read further, you can check that out. I meant that hands are one of the things you start learning early
That it can be
most artists actually actively avoid having hands in their drawings ay the start
and later when they become experienced
it actually hurts the total storytelling/expression/body language level they can tell because of this
pensivei
😔
Well, I can say that I might come from a school of art that puts a lot of emphasis on hands as a medium of a human character. An old school that taught that hands show what person you are. And besides that, that taught to see a hidden shape before a visible shape. So you could say I have a strong opinion about this
I mean, they do
We aren't arguing against how important it is to know how to draw hands for expression and body language in art
We were talking about how it can still be a nightmare for a lot of people to draw hands, even if they understand how they work and have drawn them numerous times
I like this school of thought
You can have the ability to draw some of the most amazing manga hands ever and still find it frustrating to get them to look right or take longer to draw them then anything else in the piece
It's a school of art that came to be when people started drawing portraits of ordinary people, not just aristocrats. It has been around for some time
That's cool
Well, I agree with you, all I can say. But there is a difference about what I think and what I feel, and I feel that ppl that find drawing hands frustrating just don't find hands as an interesting subject to draw
I wouldn't necessarily say that if they are frustrated by it that they just don't find it interesting, you can find something extremely interesting be invested in it and still be frustrated when it doesn't turn out the way you want it to
I think drawing hands are cool when hands turn out looking amazing, it's an amazing feeling but that doesn't change the fact that I feel frustrated in the process, I can feel proud by the end but I was still frustrated
He's been typing for like 10 minutes I'm scared
If I find something interesting, even if it's frustrating, I don't notice the frustration as an impediment or don't consider it to be negative, since it actually motivates me to do more of the thing I find interesting.
Well, I am not used to typing on the phone, plus I consider these responses a lot
Ah okay
Because I'm walking my dog rn and kept occasionally checking thinking maybe you responding without pinging me and just kept seeing you type still
Lol, I know the feeling. "Dawg, will you send it already"
Cute boy
AAAAAAH A DOG
His tongue reminds me of one of my beloved characters from a game
Let me find the pic
I would cross the street to avoid this animal
Hmm, he is actually without a tongue lolling
Lol
Honestly, he'd probably be more cautious of you
Especially now after our vet visit on Wednesday
I guess I confused him with this dog from the same studio
No fucks given about dogs' feelings, I avoid them like fire and no dog currently alive is trusted by me
That's alright
😭
Idk what that means but maybe my older one is similar
He literally doesn't do anything he just sleeps and eats
Yeah. A Mandela effect, where the artstyle is so similar, I thought the first image had the dog also with his tongue out
Lol
Like, no breed to determine, black and hairy
My older one is brown
Bit his owner but not me thus gaining my trust
He's mixed with black lab and Staffordshire and just so old he chills
If it's any consolation, he's only ever bitten someone once and it was me when I tried to break up his mom from trying to tear his face off and getting my hand in the middle of it because I didn't have a break stick
Then he moped for the next few days and felt really bad and has never bitten anyone ever since
Break stick?....
A break stick is something specifically for breaking up dog fights and getting them to release their bite on something safely
Wut. Why would she do that?
It's basically just a really thick wooden stick that's hard to break that you jam into their mouth to get them to let go of something, like another dog
Seems incredibly specific, makes you wonder how they made it
Nvm
Lol
But yeah, I didn't have that and my other methods weren't working, like trying to pick her up by the hind legs or pulling her tail, so I tried sitting on her and pinching her ear until she'd let go but then he whipped his head around and bit me hard real quick then let go immediately after I yelled
Then never bit anyone ever again after
No matter what they did to him, whether it was throwing stuff, hitting or kicking him, etc (not by me ofc, my family)
I just meet random dogs often enough to just expect the worst and avoiding that possibility
Well, I am not a dog person, but animals know pretty well to moderate their violence, though it may seem rough to us humans
I'm sorry that's happened to you so often
Well, that was towards Kc
Her violence was to rip my dog to shreds
Nah I haven't been bitten, I am just a huge coward
And left lasting physical and emotional scars on him
Like "This dog almost jumped on me I am in tears and shaking" type of coward
No danger occured really
That's what I am curious about. Why would she do that to her puppy?
She had dog aggression
Huh
Not fear aggression, she just absolutely hated dogs and would do whatever she could to attack and maim them
Uuuuuuh
Ok, that's something I never heard of
Yeah many factors that are absolutely random to not dog owners are what's stopping me from overcoming my fears lol
She also attacked two dogs but going into their fenced-in yard and seriously wounded two dogs somewhere else in our neighborhood when he let her off leash and she ran away without coming back 😭
Yeah that's fine, I totally understand
There's plenty of dogs that are perfectly behaved around here so it hasn't really been much of an issue for most people
But I'd never really push the issue to someone in person if they're afraid, I just walk the other way
I want to eventually therapy that out though because it's a really common pet you can't just keep avoiding all your life
Gave up on dating few girls due to them having dogs lol
He has a fear of other dogs and reacts negatively to any around him unless it's my older one at home
Sociopath dog lmao
He's not a sociopath, he tried playing with other dogs when he was smaller and they didn't like his play style and would nip at him
It scared him enough that now he just is afraid of other dogs
Yeah, especially because so many people own and walk their dogs around here too 😭
Plus my neighbors have dogs
So he's always in close proximity in a sense, even if they're not outside at the same time
Tf, is there dog therapy or smth?
I had a fear of dogs(a mild one though). The way I overcame it is by thinking that I am more powerful and knowing that there are ways to attack dog to prevent him biting you harder. Dogs bite is good to prevent you from escaping, but much worse at preventing you from pushing something further down his throat (so if he bites your arm, if you angle it properly, you can make dog release you in a painful for him way)
It's training
The type of training we are using is to be rewarded when calm or ignoring stimuli, in this case: other dogs
Well, ofc some dogs wouldn't release their bite anyway, but those breeds are prohibited from being outside without a mask
If he does good, he gets a really good reward he doesn't normally get, which makes experiencing the stimuli a good thing
I think he meant dog therapy for himself, not a dog lul
Oh
There is
And there are dogs that are called therapy dogs, though they're usually therapeutic to people who have little to look forward to in life
Like the elderly or sick
They can probably also be used for therapy for those with a fear of dogs, as they're trained to be calm and welcoming
I think it's scientifically proven that any companion has a theraupethic effect on any person. Some beings are better at it though
Like dogs are really good because they pay a ton of attention to their masters
Yes but for someone with a fear of dogs, I'd say it has the opposite effect unless they can overcome said fear
Well, I know a person who feared horses and they overcame it by spending a year on a horse rancho. When you know what to expect from another being, you fear it less
Agreed but not everyone would be able to do that willingly either lol
They'd need help and to ease into it
girl with dogs is like 5 on crazy matrix frfr
The fear comes from two things: an unknown and if you think something has a power over you. So changing those two is the best way to lessen a fobia
actually
if u give up on a girl for such a petty reason then did u rly care about her to begin with?
trauma is one thing, but that's a thing to overcome
I have heard people make other petty excuses for why a relationship did not work out
it's all excuses anyway
relationships are a collaborative effort, you don't ditch each other for the first minor inconvenience
Yes, and what if between you, girl and her dog, the dog is not collaborating in this relationship?
are you suggesting the dog took your girl? tough luck
I wouldn't call it petty to avoid being with someone because they own a creature you are terrified of
I liked the unedited version more. The dog stole a girl sounds more like it 😂
☠️
Because you'd more than likely either
A. Force that person to do something to lessen their dog's life and joy by keeping it penned up somewhere to avoid your partner for their comfort
B. Make your partner just deal with the fact that they are afraid of your dog and therefore ignore their feelings and everything
And probably a C. that could be a happy medium that I can't think of rn
D. work together with your partner to try overcome the phobia
Like when some people date someone and that person tells them "you have to get rid of the dog for us to be together", I'd say that's a lot more petty than just leaving because you would rather not break the bond between the person and the animal they've dedicated their life and time to before you entered the picture
And yeah D. Get therapy
it's not like you'd immediately move in with a partner and live together from day 1
there would be a lot of time to adjust
But how many people realistically ever choose the best option 😭
Exactly
I think that is a non-starter in any relationship if someone thinks that way. You can't come into relationship thinking you can try to remove all the obstacles.
no clue, it is kinda sad that most relationships end because people just don't care about each other
have you looked at the divorce surveys? this shit is making me depressed
But a lot of people do, unfortunately
They'd rather have you conform yourself and your life to fit theirs than to work together with you to actively live in harmony
Yeah
But hey, at least divorce is a thing that can let people escape bad living situations with a spouse
It existing is also a good thing in that regard
haha sure as long as we ignore inherent sexism in the law system (looking at you child support)
Child support and some countries where women can't divorce but men can
Or vice versa where women can divorce for the dumbest reasons but not for legitimate abuse
And men just don't
Well, maybe they do, but I know some ppl who learned how not to be like that. So I am optimistic about that.
yeah I'm not talking about those countries, sad that it happens and Idk how these cultures even agree to live like this
but if you look at court cases, women always get lighter sentences compared to men
on average*
and this extends to divorces
which is decidedly not cool
Tbh, I think that is one of cornerstones of good relationship: to be able to learn how to listen and learn in the relationship. If you can't get to that point with your partner, I think the relationship would be lacking. And I think men can be taught that
agree
That's good at least
Healthy compromise or working together to find an answer is always nice
Yeah, that's fair
I thought you just meant in general
I wholeheartedly agreed
well, I'm probably talking about American/western statistics here
I say probably cuz 99% of online content that I consume is from the "western" countries
Hmm, Jake was typing something, I wonder if he stopped because the discussion had already moved on KEKW
And if the two had a biological child then the parent who doesn't have majority custody has to pay 25% of their salary to the other iirc
and this exposes me to statistics and surveys which is relevant cuz the origin etc etc u get it
I was low-key interested in his input
Who knows 😭
Or maybe someone said what he was going to say
Same
Or he was going to share something on topic for the channel and decided against it because we were talking about something else
Wdym
Unlikely, because you would put This tbh or something similar in that case
He wouldn't always
Only when he's actively in the conversation already does he do that
They all are very nice girls I would love to know closer but I couldn't approach them because they had a pet dog which I would shit my pants in front of
Girl with the dogs is a YouTuber who does grooming for cats and dogs and the shit she deals with sometimes is insane lol
poking fun at you in a sarcastic manner while referencing the hot crazy matrix
Oh, didn't know
I mean, one of them was thick short haired quirky weeb girl with glasses, was my favourite pick until she fucked off to Japan
😭
L
At least she is seemingly having fun there and I didn't know her that well due to her having a dog so I wasn't attached in the first place
Honestly, I am now considering if fear of their pet could be a valid tactic like "pls fix me, girl" kind of tactic. I know it works in other cases
Just seemed like a very fun and nice person to be around
I am cringe but not to a degree where I trick women into relationships
I am straight and honest with people, I just don't consider online "people"
I think we always trick each other into relationship, because there is no way to know another person in less than 20 hours, and honestly more than that
I mean, I tried approaching that one girl in particular but I am was very inexperienced with girls at the time
I just kinda came off creepy
I feel like no one wants to admit it, but it might be how everyone sees the online
I was too try-hard to be a sociable guy
At least NOW I don't have to struggle through convos
Agreed
No, I generally consider online ppl as ppl
you remove the physical layer tho
It's certainly better than being an introvert and a "wall" instead of person in a group
no matter how much I convince myself that you are a person, you still only appear as text
My resolution for university was to become more sociable and I think I did that pretty well, although my current groupmates are boring as fuck I don't contact them beyond asking homework
Yes, but if I think someone is interesting, then it doesn't matter. And if person is not interesting to me, I generally treat them the same online or in rl
no offense but my social anxiety isn't triggering because ur not a full person online, if that makes any sense
About to video call and stare in your eyes then
(I won't)
nah
My groupmates are either just nerds, no shared interests or not my type
Nerds are no fun
Shared interests speaks for itself
Not being my type might give the girls the wrong idea if I approach them and I don't want to even try and find out if we have shared interests
"wall" type of people are soooooo
You know, you are a nerd, be easier on your fellow nerds
It's a boring existence
can u elaborate on what u mean by "wall" tho
I think I get it but I still wann a hear
At least I can talk to all 8 of them without being a silent boring fuck
"He is just there and talks only when accompanied by his close friends"
pretty much same here, which is ironic considering what I said earlier
oh, that'd totally me then
Oh hey that's almost me
Eh, valid.
I found that existence far too boring to continue so now I yap a lot
I suck at speaking with strangers unless it's in the comfort of a place I know or in the company of people I trust
well, once someone starts a convo with me I open up
Yeah I don't like it either
But it's still very intimidating to try and have a conversation too
Same
I just threw myself af the wall of new group and just tried to adapt on the go
If we find a topic we are both in tune with, I'll go ham if we are somewhere I know
Easy shit, super easy if you are colleagues or smth
In the woods though? Eh you might be trying to talk my guard down so you can kidnap me
yeah, how do u find this easy?
what did u fo
do
With my groupmates?
Talk about next lesson
Talk about homework
Talk about exams
Talk about a new word you learned
Talk about an event
Talk about what you saw on street
Talk about what your plans are
And then segway anywhere you want
I yapped about fucking Usogui to my groupmate who doesn't even read manga for 15-20 minutes
I'm sorry for him
Half of that is you-centered tbh. Not bad, but you can do better
omg u too?
Because I don't know shit about the other person thus can't segway
He wanted a started
Those can start
I am not saying it has to be only these topics
Yeah, when you're raised with the idea that women are small and helpless and that anyone could be out to get you, you kinda feel the need to have someone or something by yourself when you're out- or else a friendly face might become the last one you see
I don't need to be a missing person's case
And since I'm a woman I'm more prone to it
Or assault
Being afraid of being in the woods is universal experience imo
I'd say a healthy balance of sharing about yourself and talking about common interests/events is kind of important
Nono not just the woods
It was just an example
That shit happens on busy roads
Oh well yeah that's fair
Not much to add
Woods just seems universal as an example, yeah
How else would I start a convo if I give 0 shits about the person I am talking to?
Besides, the woods are safer anyway, less people 😭
yea that's fair, one of the solutions just get a bf 🤓☝️
How do I make sure I'm not the gf of another sociopathic liar and narcissist
I can approach a stranger to ask directions or laugh at a joke someone said in elevator or add to a convo uninvited
Who treats you well at first then manipulated you into doing stuff you normally wouldn't
I ain't scared
People are scary
Yeah exactly
One mf said chainsawman anime was trash I barely contained myself to not tell him he fucking sucks
Yeah, ofc. But generally a person likes when you are interested in them, and not yourself
I was busy waiting for my food
no clue, this is actually what I'm worried about too especially cuz I tend to let people step over me
there's like red flags tho, right?
As long as it balances out it's alright
i read somewhere on reddit people like to joke like "how many red flags until u want him/her?"
flipping the trope on its head
As long as relationships benefit me with enough joy I am willing to consume some red flags
Idgaf if our politics or life ideas aren't shared, I am having fun for time being
Exactly, and there are red flags but a good manipulator knows how to hide them well
Which is what I am kind of afraid of
The last dude wasn't great but I also wasn't experienced with having good interactions with people so I just thought he was nice 😭
I think you can discern straightforward/honest people easily
so I'd shoot for that type if anything
I try
Tbh, just get better at manipulation yourself. Manipulation can be positive, it's not always negative. So it can be a good thing to learn
Gaslighting isn't real you just imagined things
Why not?
Lying is GOOD actually, sometimes
Because I do not want to lose trust someone might have in me
well, cuz it feels bad?
Sometimes benefits outweigh the guilt tho
I think the only time I've ever done that was the whitest of lies where I told my mom I texted her friend if I could park at her campsite across the road
Her friend called me to let me know I could park there for her surprise birthday party
Most of the times I don't regret lying
yes, see?
As long as my lie has no physical consequences it doesn't matter that much
what kinds of things would you even lie about?
There are good ways to do this. You can manipulate ppl to be better or do better. The simplest manipulation technique, is to share something of low value with another person with no strings attached. It can be used to make ppl feel better about themselves, and it's a good thing if it's honest. It still improves your manipulation techniques
Many? White lies mostly, I get no kicks from making shit up
yea so examples?
Like telling my mom I am fine and I don't need anything, telling my friend this and that, saying I like someone even if we don't talk for weeks
wow
It doesn't hurt them, it doesn't hurt me, it makes them feel good, only positives
I'd say
lying about liking someone
is kind of fucked up
they don't realise that the relationship is one-sided
and hollow
Nah I do somewhat but not that much I just don't want them to feel bad about it
Like my roommate
Yep, complimenting someone is also a good way to make another person feel better about themselves. And it can be done without an ulterior motive, but it is still a manipulation
I've known him for 3 years now, could not care enough to text him while on vacation
Not even once
Didn't even congratulate him on his birthday
I still talk with him anytime he talks in our room tho
I don't have a problem with white lies, I never make up stories of things that never happened or anything like that
so your vibes are neutral then
I am a very chaotic neutral as existence yes
I do things with some logic to it but ultimately from outside perspective most of them might seem random
I know that because people around me often tell me how they feel about me
Not in negative light tho, I am just a very goofy guy
Like, I made ice "cubes" in egg container (plastic one) yesterday
My roommate just said that he will remember me as a legendary moron
I just laughed
Honestly, you still need to read up on manipulation techniques, just to know what is there against you. Start with Chaldini's "Influence". It's not a long read, and a must read for everyone imo, just to be able to resist everyday manipulation s coming at you from news, advertising etc
@next crescent having life experience is much more valuable don't listen to allat
Lime is the type of guy to read "Rich dad, poor dad" to learn economics
Thing is, you won't know a bad book from a good one, considering you don't appreciate anyone's advise in this area
Lime I just don't respect YOU in particular due to your previous ideas it has nothing to do with it being a book
I just generally prefer first hand over retelling
Sure
The point is, if you learn only from ppl you like, you will live in an echo chamber
I never said anything about liking people, I just have enough experience to see when someone is doing something I strongly suggest they don't waste time on
I just voiced my opinion is all
I know the type of dudes who read few books to make themselves feel smart and then spend money on bets and crypto
I wouldn't take any advice from that type tbh
meh
what makes it a good book? also are you familiar with other books on this topic?
It's simple and based on scientific experiments done in that area. It's also about everyday stuff
also can I get a gist of it from simply reading or watching the abstract?
err
summary"
Well, it's not a very long read, you can just read it. The abstract is not very helpful as I remember
lazy
I'll watch a summary cuz lazu
it's probably going to talk about what I have alrdy picked up on passively anyway
You are likely to get something useful. Some of that stuff is counterintuitive
interesting
Considering other books, I do agree with Kvit that manipulation is better in practice, than from books. But I know decent books on behaviourial patterns, which makes you understand ppl better
I am taking life experience to heart with trying to root out people who are and aren't genuine, so far it's worked in recent years
But when I barely had any experience with the outside world because of the way I was raised and "sheltered" in my home, I had absolutely no idea that people could even be manipulative because the only thing I had to compare them to were bullies at school who would be straight forward with their dislike/disdain for my existence or my mother who'd manipulate me in a rainbow of ways lol
One such book is Richard Restak "The Brain". It's more about how our brains are biologically wired
You guys giving kc life advice is very funny
Nothing wrong in that. Everyone has some life experience that you didn't have. Sometimes a kid has a thing or two to teach you
The kids at work do not teach me anything
Dunno what that supposed to mean.
It kind of is
But yeah, everyone has life experience
