Ok, I am rewatching Overlord, and it is so damn good. Except that I hate it.
I am gonna wait until novel completely releases. Then I am gonna read the end of it (which would be a first, and hopefully, the last time I intentionally read the ending), and if Ains doesn't die in the end, I will not watch the anime any further
Because if the author doesn't make Ains killable, then the whole story is meaningless
Good news (for you at least) is the author's already said the next two LN volumes will be the last. So it's almost done (for context, there's 16 out already)
Bad news (again, in the context of your post) is that, at least as of Vol 16, I find it incredibly hard to believe ||that there's anything left in the world of Overlord that poses a realistic threat to him. The Platinum Dragon Lord thinks he does, but that's cause he thought Albedo was the player character and not Ainz. Meanwhile, the Church has lost its only potential competitor to Nazarick's forces, and that was a glass cannon to begin with.||
that doesn't sound like the story progressed much since the last anime season. All these actors were already on the scene and they don't look much like a threat.
Tbf, Overlord S4 ended at ~Volume 14
Theres only been two light novels past that point
The upcoming movie is adapting the two LN volumes they skipped between S2's end and S3's start
It was a sidequest
Ainz goes and does a little trolling
(and accidentally starts a ||personality cult in the humans who survive the trolling||)
it's funny cuz i never watched that show but it does sound like something i'd expect from it
It's my favorite arc tbh
Probably the best case of Ainz trying to do something reasonable/simple, and accidentally stumbling into something he didnt want, but helps him out in the end
Generalized story spoilers: ||Basically, he launches a demon invasion of a human kingdom and arrives as a "savior" to aggressively shill the rune tech he learned from the dwarves. To the point where he has the demons give infomercial-level sales pitches of how much they fear the rune weapons. No one gives a shit, and in the end, all Ainz ends up doing is accidentally creating a cult around some offhand advice he gave an assistant the kingdom sent to supervise him while he helped them||
||The assistant becoming the prophet who takes it upon themselves to spread the gospel to the masses ofc. She's my fav of the non-Nazarick people||
isnt there a mob psycho arc that does something similar
I think so, been a while since I watched it
Same. Loved S2, but been trying to finish more shows versus continuing older ones
I do know S3's opening is another banger tho
Mob psycho has always just been great start to finish, 3rd season was a great conclusion
Daduq

There was another trailer that came out, thought it was for a new season not a movie
Rip
(I say came out, as in a month ago now, but its the newest one atm i think)
Only thing confirmed atm is the movie. The author's said he plans on releasing both of the next two LNs simultaneously, and it's been ~two years since the last one, so people are suspecting he's waiting til the movie release to either release the LNs or at least announce a release date
I suspect whether or not those last four get adapted into another season depends on how much people like the ending lol
Hmmmm i c
And this is what the movie is gonna be about?
Ye
Ah
Hard to pick that up based off the trailers lmfaoaoa
I had a completely different impression xd
The VA for Demiurge already confirmed my favorite bit is getting adapted
Ah
basically this lmao
like genuinely
after 27 years you'd think the community would have a decent guess where the story is going
idk how he does it man
damn
reminds me of that one jokes scamboli made
"can't predict what the mc is going to do next, it's almost like he has a personality and isn't just a stereotype"
something similar could be said about the world of One Piece I guess
did you just 😔 me
why tho\
miss watching his vids and learning about some random obscure series ive never heard of before
he still uploads tho
ye but he's recently been covering popular stuff from the 2010's
ahh ig you mean he started talking about stuff everyone knows alrdy
which ig for the modern anime fan is old and obscure but i grew up on that shit
so it's not really the same
imma be real tho, the houseki no kuni and noragami videos are based
also he did a vid on Tengoku Daimakyou (the best anime of this decade)
you liked it that much damn
i thought it was ok
i mostly cared about the orphanage plot wasnt invested much in everything else that was happening
have you seen astra lost in space
it was the opposite for me, but then noticed both plots are intertwined very tightly
High Earth Defense Club is right there
It's way better
bope
let's hope the anime won't be as generic as the character art
oh that's a comedy
yeah not interested
Brother is dragging me to see the Alien rerelease
Boring as hell over here
girls band cry subs go hard
Dang
LMAO
i know the lore
not fat, amogus
AMOGUS
i dont really see it
Holy shit amogus
ok youre just doing it to be contrarian now
Hey golden i think juca is blind-

Tokyo Revengers. Bleach. Heavenly Delusion. Undead Unluck. Sand Land. Summertime Rendering. These Anime should have been HUGE. Some even were... before Disney+ and Hulu got to them. It's almost like they WANT these shows to fail.

I didnt know that Disney+ marketing towards anime is much worse in western countries
In my country, they were sucks when promoting Shogun (yes its on disney+ in here) but at least they still make few post about some anime they have every week
But every post feels like bot
Prime and Netflix are way better than them
Pirating is even better
True
Hello
Guys, have you ever made up a story in your head so good, that you cried because of the story?
kinda, when I was a kid, I was impressed by a character in Fallout 2 game, so I imagined his story that made me cry. Pretty sad thing. I am still kinda sad even after 20 years. I would say I became more callous since then
anyway, I have read so many well-written books that would make you cry, that my own fictional stories don't impress me that way anymore xD
not surprised
omg kc hiiii
omg hiiii
Some dude married a hologram of Miku. At least this guy can touch the body pillow.
You can talk to Miku hologram though. I guess depends on priorities
Never before have I seen anime where the girl likes a guy for being just so incredibly pathetic
Putting furniture on drunk people to see them struggle and laugh at it is both hilarious and relatable
The Fable supposed to be the most hilarious series this season
But the animation sucks and its on disney+
Idk how Tezuka went from such a masterpiece Pluto to whatever garbage is this
But at least The Fable VAs are great
the fable is tezuka?
Yee
Niji stays losing
Well Tezuka isnt the author of Pluto, so
yea unless they do something drastic they'll probably close the branch within a year or so
elira is still in subscriber only mode
If they were real I'd be so lucky
Explosion
A certain parody video forever ruined this clip for me

Have her do that on a frozen metal pole next

okay albedo
What happened
elaina is so beautiful, and i also love the way saya is obsessed with elaina
Fellow Elaina enjoyed spotted
i love how he actually tried to make the board positioning make sense
really unnecesarry but really nice detail
I love this art but I wish luffy was had a suit of armor like zoro and sanji
he's the king kings dont really wear armor
altho he could have had a crown now that you mention it
Now that im looking at it I literally just noticed franky is the castle
ou I did not know there was a video but now I'm gonna watch
Wait nvm I saw it
i want wandering witch: the journey of elaina and in the land of leadale to both get second seasons of their animes because they are my favourite fantasty animes
Journey of Elaina was good, but I feel like Land of Leadale's kinda gotten hit by the "Seinfeld isn't funny" trope
(TL;DR description of trope: Show/story that's unique/groundbreaking/very good at the time looks bad years later after the tropes it popularizes get redone (sometimes even better) and overused by countless successors)
jojo part 3 be like
So guys
I’m in Japan now
No more en subtitles for you
Please dont make the japanese hate foreigners more than they already do
And have fun

Animation being dogshit doesn't really matter to me when I can watch a dude pretending to be beat up crying and bawling his eyes out and saying "Ha I am so good at this"
Show is pretty funny and Fable VA adds certain charm imo
I really like those detailed colored panels we get every now and then, I think I saved like half of them as pngs when reading One Piece
Humu humu
Watching frieren now
It reminds me of a really interesting mix of things
The beginning sections reminded me of hoenheim and a romanian fairy tale about immortality
Now its starting to feel a little like early one piece but in a generic jrpg/isekai setting
(Its also making me wanna play a jrpg)
Maybe its finally time to continue persona
Also the premise of nanatsu no taizai
Mfw medieval fantasy is happening in medieval fantasy, magic system is pretty unique though when you see other notable mages
Like Ubel or Denken idk
It's pretty much just Frieren being "if it ain't broken don't fix it" type when it comes to battles
Magic system seems p generic so far
I enjoyed that bit about humanity taking an innovative spell and studying it to the point it became commonplace
But thats more to do with the worldbuilding and story writing than the magic system itself
nahh that still says a lot about the magic system
I watched it and recommend the show and it isn't for me but world building is easy 10/10, setting is consistent and nothing feels out of place, animation is music are also just never drop in quality
Easy recommendation for new comers and alike but wouldn't watch it again because I don't like the lack of emotions at times
Stark easily the GOAT
The one dude who's into "older women" was also an amazing character
It's just that everyone is so normal and sane it bore me somewhat
It functions the same as most magic systems in old games
Its just that you dont really see the story focus on the actual process of how they work
You just go into town and buy some grimoires from an npc that sells them
They go deeper about it later
And dont really think about the implications
With Ubel the most
meaning you can learn spells and improve them
I was thinking about magic systems in general
Yes?
Final fantasy has like 4 tiers of all its basic spells
I think dragon quest too but its been a minute since i played anything from that series
there are magic systems that are ambiguous, not too clearly explained (think atla), and then there are hard magic concepts like in Railgun where you use your brain power and oh what's that? you can use computer chips to improve yourspells' destructive or calculation power?
though I don't know how in-depth frieren went into explaining the magic system
Pretty in-depth
Explaining how pretty mid mage can win against a high level one if given sufficient skill and right mind set
I know but thats not what im talking about
alright
I was just saying how its very similar to old japanese games and things of the sort
Frieren has a soft magic system from what ive seen
I see
Small spoiler ||How Ubel who has the magic to just cut things cut a person in two because she just saw a cloak everyone called "impenetrable" and imagined how to cut it treating it like casual cloth||
so old jrpgs have soft systems too?
Which is p typical for the streotypical medieval fantasy setting
I mean, I only played FF and some other less notable jrpgs so I can't say much here
Magic doesn't have levels exactly and varies from user to user which is nice
I mean its usually just a mage class type character that can learn spells from a list as they level up
ok this is a soft magic system
My favourite magic systems are the rock paper scissor ones where one type is weak to another and so on. Making no magic an apex
Theres usually not that much lore as to how the system functions precisely
You just roll with it cuz jrpg
It really doesn't work like that in Frieren, exampleFolk Magic
Just spells made up by people over the world for various purposes
it's kind of systemic in nature (haha get it?)
I think it's the most entertaining in games, and the system itself also lends itself for some really interesting writing with limitations
Yes i am aware
That is a great piece of lore and imo makes setting very realistic
People would do that with magic
Jist change the list to grimoires that you buy
Which is also p common
Its how all the elder scrolls games work
You don't have to read a grimoires to learn a spell
It's just a way to store them
Which is pretty reasonable for any type of magic really
Yes lol. Making one character super strong kind of ruins the whole world setting. Balanced characters make the world feel much better
All rpgs have their roots in dnd
If you go back far enough
True
is there some cultural precedent that did this?
I may have seen it cuz the concept isn't alien to me

But yea my point was that overall frieren's setting is a very typical dnd style /rpg style setting
Im not gonna argue about every single minute detail thats not the point i was trying to make
(Also ngl while i am enjoying it so far im also not really blown away by it that much)
btw I got a new keyboard and it feels amazing to type on, anyone wanna go on a rant spree with me?
For how much hype there is around it i kinda expected more
same
Ill see where the story goes
Theyve already kinda shitfted the focus a bit so who knows
It is a great which I personally didn't enjoy because of main characters but I see what people like about it
I was expecting like some real sad stuff to like cry about and all
Didn't shed a tear once during the whole watch and I was felt lukewarm towards Fren and Frieren both
Stark is da GOAT
Alphonse?!
thats lowkey really sad and kinda dark
I like how subtle it was
Blink and you miss it moment
Probably the most emotion I felt during Frieren relate to the duke guy
It was pretty fucking sad
That's why I didn't like Fren or Frieren
Other mages at least have a funny shtick or two
Don't feel robotic
I think
this was intentional so that any time she did show emotion it would be more impactful
but yeahhhhhhhhh I get it
it's more a slice of life, slow paced and kind of meandering
this generally doesn't appeal to me
It would be a great first anime I think
"generally"
They don't have any of the bullshit stereotypes in there
And little to no sexualisation
hmm
normally people getting into anime want to experience something different
but still somewhat familiar
part of why AoT was such a big hit
Frieren is a good ol fantasy with gnomes and elves that doesn't have the worst things about anime
are there any western tv shows that are similar to Frieren in terms of pacing, vibe, etc?
Unnecessary lewds or walking stereotypes
Mushishi I've been told is similar somewhat
makes sense why I couldn't get into it either 😅
A tuallly
Now that im seeing the fight scenes
I think this might be another demon slayer case
Shut the fuck up
Not it is not
It's not a literal surface level action with no plot
It's literal antithesis to demon slayer
Slow, calm, plot driven
What do you mean by that then?
I feel like Demon Slayer was better at manipulating viewers' feelings
it's shounen in general, it's very intense
Demon slayer is slop carried by animation
I meant that its an alright story with extremely good visuals which will attract a larger audience
no
I never felt emotional once in demon slayer
you did't get invested
Tanjiro crying for rengoku was sooooo forced
He literally met rengoku 1 hr ago
yeah I get it, I also found it silly
I gotta say demon slayer has the best animation known to mankind so far
Best thing demon slayer did was made Nezuko not annoying but adorable
The only success I will give em
welcome to shounen series
So many ass pulls too
Dude cries too much
The boar head guy just moving his internal organs around just because he can is like????
Bleh
Oh this one has explantion
A good explanation
Spoilers tho
||he is half demon||
I watched every season so far so bless me?
wait that's so based wtf
I'd love to see it
THIS IS SO BAD LMFAO
||His one parent is demon||
Oh god this sucks man
damn this redefines everything
Yeah , iirc it is that|| douma guy||
The only character I genuinely like and I find interesting is the one dude who fucking eats demons
I might be wrong tho
He is rad as hell
Everyone else is bland and quite frankly shit
I gotta say animation and fights are super awesome
same goes for Frieren tbh
Frieren try make me care about characters
100% fail
My fav was the 2 mins sequence where sound hashira was fighting no. 6 demon
You yourself admitted you didn't watch it fully didn't you though?
gave it a couple shots, stopped around the time they killed the dragon
You didn't even get to know 25% of the cast my man
if the rest of the cast is going to be as boring as that, then I don't want to meet them
There are more different characters incoming
Stark is going with them too
He is a treasure of a dude
jjk characters have personalities???
Eeeeewh
Bruh dont be kidding
I guess
Everyone feels like a different character
Characters are wasted by the author it often feels like
Very little world building hurts
I hope you’re not one of those people who hate something bcoz its mainstream
There is no world building
Its literally earth
I've been following manga for 2 years
I'm ngl nearly everyone in jjk is a stereotype form my pov
if you asked me to describe them as a person I wouldn't be able to
Is stereotyping bad?
Wait what
I think its better than every character being the same
I read the whole manga and i dont remember this
depends on the context, in the case of jjk I feel like this is fine
since the focus is more on the fights and power scaling
What about clans? What about ANYONE else from Gojo's clan? Previous 6 eyes user? Other death womb paintings? Relationship of Kenjaku and Tengen? Whole Heian era? Military just entering and disappearing? Characters being written out of manga (Is Todo safe? Is he alright? Nobara is prolly dead but still some people cope too)
I also dont remember the thing about organs at all
Damn shit
I think i mixed up
That other guy with inosuke
My bad guys
Forget what i said
Yeah
On screen interactions
The half humans half curses kenjaku created
Inosukes stuff was just comedy relief for the most part
Dont think youre supposed to think about it too hard
Death womb paintings is the right term I think
Jjk target fandom is mostly “i like fights, flashy characters, badass moves”
So skipping the whole build up , world building and all is okay-ish
Yeah I love the memes but if anything to praise JJK for it is not it's plot in more recent parts
im the target fandom 😎
Never praised the plot bro 💀
Characters are not good
I liked the characters for their on screen presence
They are quite frankly wasted too often
Are u telling me u didn’t went “oh my god wtf” when sukuna first showed up in shibuya?
Or toji
Nah it was cool
Characters are still wasted and often written poorly tho
I want more than just pure hype
I think a villain with a motive, morally grey is kinda generic in shone
Sukuna is straight up evil
I like him
Breath of fresh air in shonen anime
Jjk aint that type of anime
We really need to know more about him tho
Its supposed to be non stop every episode
Being for being evil is as shallow as kiddie pool
Believe me most of the fandom doesn’t care 💀
Yeah thats the thing
He is a cratoonish villain
And there’s nothing wrong with it
I know and I am not most of the fandom
I, for one, am a dude lmao
We have 100s of villains in anime with multiple goals , morally grey etc
We have little to none straight up evil , no redemption possible characters
Characters have crazy amount of symbolism around then to just never expand on it
Jjk ain’t that deep bro
That just feels shitty
And there’s nothing wrong with liking non complicated things
Why not expand on it? World building would be greatly appreciated
If there’s no depth, hype/cinematography/action makes up for it
Why introduce elements into the story if you never talk about them
That's lazy writing
Most of the jjk fandom is here for the fights, action, badass moves/dialogues
They aren’t here to watch 100s of eps
Yeah I don't care what everyone else wants I am speaking on my own opinion obviously
skibidi
Shit if it was as expansive as Naruto I WOULD watch it
Bro look at the budget for jjk
Been a long time since we had a new long running show
They cant even animate fillers
studio mappa be like
Long running series are a thing of past now
Yeah that's why we need more world building in manga to build characters, to make emotional moments actually emotional
Maybe black clover or boruto idk
black clover
one piece
detective conan
I did not feel a single emotion besides "this is it?" During either deaths in Shibuya
I mean something tagt started recently
Emphasis onnew long running series
black clover?
Not the ones that are running since a long time
Yes i mentioned it
.
Boruto is horse shit tho
Recent animes are all 12-150 eps long
hmmm
how is the situation with people watching tv in Japan? is it still profitable for the companies?
Well if it wasn't they would stop
I think a good amount of profit these anime studios are making would be from streaming services
Like netflix/crunchyroll etc uk
Don't they just sell dvd to earn the biggest margin?
And also blu ray versions
studios make the most money from merchendise, netflix or crunchyroll subscriptions are like a drop in the ocean
Damn
Well obv that's how media are
Bruh
Ooooh
Ok theyre starting to throw in a few shoneny notes into the magic now i see
ok so, I guess I was a little wrong about streaming services
you could treat them as "commercials" for the international audience, which would ideally boost sales of merchendise

Yea cave smh my head
Dont anger the lion
He eats cinnamon toast for lunch
He ll eat you too
💀
As someone who's been curious abt the series, but never managed to find any EN translations for years, I can't wait to watch it
https://fxtwitter.com/sugoilite/status/1784423384178385062?s=61&t=9AQ1-iGFC7_h2d2Zo3lYYw
The fact he got moderate success w/ yaiba in JP, before making a cultural icon (detective conan imo) still amazes me
...TIL the mangadex page for it has EN fantranslations and there's an official release in my country, what the heck
Might buy the secondhand official release one day, it's not cheap, but still manageable since it's a full set

Usogui mindset fr
uso what now?
google is your friend
oh a gambling anime, I see
Anime is shite avoid it
They cut out like literally 80% of the arc
so gambling manga?
Live action is equally dogshit
Yes, gambling in most various ways however
Not some boring ol shit like only poker
so very diff I see
One of tamer ones is a game where you have to be boiled alive for some time as punishment for example
Shit is packed with some of the greatest characters which I wouldn't be shy to put on level of Guts and Musashi
And a ton of not obvious foreshadowing + art getting better and better makes it easily one of the best mangas I've had the pleasure to experience
This is how volume 1 looked
And this is volume 46
Plot, characters, drawing and adrenaline are all 10/10, only thing manga lacks is good adaptation
And start is pretty slow too
soooooooo... what gambling we talking about?
First 20 chapters are so aren't crazy exciting
i was about to mention vagabond
First arc is escaping a house full of traps from a serial killer who has guns and you have nothing, wager is your life
Best thing about Usogui is absence of supernatural shit
Pure smarts
And best foreshadowing I've seen in any animanga
Highly recommend if you can stick with first few arcs being not the best there is
For me it really clicked in labyrinth arc, dunno how for someone else
Because on face value it was very simple with wager being "Tell me about 1 day of your life" and what it turns into was incredibly exciting and the judge was easily one of if not THE best kakegurui judge
Sorry Yakou
Just tiny 500 smth chapters, worth the time spent tho
if they were to make it a anime, im assuming its horrible
Rarest and most niche anime wojak ever
Lotgh is too long to be popular anyways
But holy shit the rare memes are GOLDEN
anybody read vagabond?
a long time ago
Vagabond author be like
like i was tryna find a musashi anime then vagabond popped up
why specifically a musashi anime
Vagabond is really the closest thing to "impossible to make into anime" we have
Life action could go very hard though given the right director
But one can only dream
why
It just looks soooo good I can't imagine anime being anything but a let down
Environmental storytelling and symbolism is too important to just gloss over, giving it colours might even make the drawings look more messy which would SUCK
you can say that about any manga with detailed drawing
yep
That's why I said "the closest to"
Anything can be animated for better or for worse obviously
I am talking more so about doing justice to source material
Que, berserk 2016
They sure adapted that one....
I don't understand why Dragonball fans still fall for obvious bait after all those years lol
i kinda like characters with dual swords
not kirito, he doesnt count
I'm pretty sure he uses a single sword significantly more than dual swords anyway.
Like he really only dual wields for like 2 or 3 episodes at the end of some arcs
Kirito also just sucks as a character (I never watched Sao)
AGREED
The biggest problem with Kirito is that he always has some form of ass pull. Granted I've never read the novels so I can't say if this was done better there or not but I feel like if those ass pull were telegraphed better/at all he wouldn't be so hated.
actually name one best isekai character
Retsu Kaioh
The Chinese dude from Baki
Baki has Isekai?
It's like an offshoot from another author
Still drawn super well and in spirit of Baki, aka something incredibly goofy and not a tiny bit realistic
The only manga where 4000 years of Chinese martial arts challenge a great eagle and gravity in a fight
Any isekai you know Retsu solos
I feel like that's excessive. There are some isekai characters that literally rewrite the rules of their worlds as they need.
The one dude from the an anime last season could literally kill the laws of physics when it suited him
Though power scaling arguments are inherently dumb and will go no where so I'm gonna stop here.
I am glad you recognised an obvious joke lol
honestly most of your comments dont read like jokes
it just feels like youre making broad claims that are near impossible to prove with no real arguments to back them up
Ok thank you Juca. I couldn't tell if it was just me or not who felt like that.
I looooove trolling
If I am serious I am going to write a LOT, like when with Usogui
If not I am just being ironic or baiting for discourse
can't say i share the sentiment but good to know at least
Demon slayer IS dogshit carried by animation though I do stand by that
And only character I enjoyed in jjk is Mahito because he is the only one who died in an organic well throughout way
ngl these comments read the exact same way to me as the one you said was a joke
No I am serious this once
i get that my point was that it doesnt really come across that way
and/or it doesnt come across that the other one was a joke without you just explaining it afterwards
at least from my pov
im not forcing you to do anything
just wanted to mention how it comes across
instead of just ignoring it
I love arguing and trolling for shits and giggles due to no consequences
Usogui is genuinely 10/10 tho go read it please
Bop their head
Good
I forgot what I was gonna say
Yeah, like, at the end of their story, Rimuru in That Time I Reincarnated as a Slime literally ||becomes God
Like, with a capital G||. Power scaling is wack man
he knows
hey jake when do I level up
hey Jake I want to stop being pink
how do I check this
personally, the Great Sage/||Raphael/Ciel|| has been my favorite part. Cause it feels like the closest thing we've gotten to a depiction of "What if we gave a supercomputer/AI magic?"
The city building is fun too tho, especially when (S3 spoilers) ||Ramiris basically lets him turn his city into a 100 floor mega-structure
Dude be making Coruscant in a medieval world||

anyone wanna go on a philosophical anime rant with me?
@edgy bone
You get some for everyone message. You also get a good bit just for being in VC with other people.
still looking for an excuse to use the new keyboard?
I have exactly 1 voice exp and that will likely never change because that's really funny imo
yeah
Funny how it Nihil right before us. Anime channel gang checking their levles.
You post here enough to be anime channel gang
fair enough
Knavism 2
fumo!
I have a Clorinde one somewhere
whomst'd've
Maybe I should buy a Lynette doll
always wanted one
of those
maybe I can buy some for my little sister and disguise it as a gift
🤓 ☝️
Power fantasy is either evil city builder (Overlord) or good city builder (Tensura) and I loke both
Planning on bringing back so many fumos when I finally get to go back to Japan lol
Love those little things
The two definitive ways to play city builders
y'all can fly to japan? imagine living in a first world country
Like Rimworld or smth lmao
isn't power fantasy more like Dragon Ball or Solo Leveling?
Overlord would totally go for drug trade and selling organs lol
tbh, it can also include city builders. but it's not exclusively city builders
Yeah they are not city builders so they are not interesting for me
city builders are an interesting spin off, they started like 6 to 7 years ago
Solo leveling was comically edgy
at least they started gaining traction back then
but
it's a fundamentally different take
I had a good belly laugh whenever anything "cool" happened
tensura or realist hero are more slice of life if u asked me
Tensura is pretty all things considered
Pretty mid it is
First half of second season was a fucking slog to get throughout weekly
Revenge arc was 1000% worth it tho
I'm thinking about flying to Chicago again this year
It's not amazing but it's tolerable
but
Nothing outrageous
solo leveling genre wore off on me after a single series
Solo leveling was soooo funny
Bro literally leveled up his whole face
I can't imagine someone seriously thinking it's cool
Voice actor did a great job for MC tho
my biggest problem with isekai has been the fact that, you get one spin off, suddenly 50 more versions of the same spin off show up, the novelty just isn't enough to keep me invested when the core of isekai isn't to tell a story, but it's to be a relaxing slice of life self insert fantasy
watch 50 more frieren lookalikes show up in the coming years
let's be honest, you thought cringier stuff was cool at one point
target demographic is still shounen or casual low investment readers
can't really fault it for that
I still like edgy stuff
In moderation tho
Like a cool name in latin here or there that's like awesome
Well yeah I am neither a teenager or a kid lmao
Ah, a closet chuuni I see
Something
I am cringe in moderation
The more edge there is the more comical shit is
I more so enjoy pathos maybe
I really ought to check this out I bet I would laugh my ass off
Just his name is low-key making me giggle
Like give character a cloak and a mask it makes them look so awesome
I agree
Yes
That's just cringe
anyone wanna discuss how different isekai city builder anime apply different societal ideologies to ruling the masses?
is there a true marxism isekai society?
what about taxes
come on this is a topic for at least 50 hours, it's gonna level me up alright
If they ain't paying their taxes, they lose their cheat skills and everything
Not even fantasy setting can make it real lol
has Rimuru made his village pay taxes?
If there ever is communism fantasy it would have to be all made up by magic to be even 1% percent believable
Lmao
there's obviously a ruling elite that acts as their guardians, this is more medieval feudalism type of society really
I would think so yes
They trade
So they need money
tbh it can work on small scale (I'd say between 15-200 people at the most)
where everyone provides
but human nature chooses leaders
there's always going to be a top dog
so then they produce goods and engage in trade, they aren't necessarily recognised as a nation, but they were recognised as a threat due to them being monsters
Communism can work, if you aren't human looool
But they ARE a nation?
Lol
so their power structure looks something like
Rimuru at the top
Rimuru's followers (administrators)
Regular town folk, artisans, etc
Like city-state at least
they don't have Clergy, do they?
hmm
They tend to super important forest stuff
I don't remembver much about them, been like 5 years since I read the web novel
it's likely that through Rimuru's reforms, he has brought human culture into the monster territory
Also "poison resistance" blocking all alcohol is such bullshit in any fantasy, humans would find a way to bypass that in a week
like, ale and booze?
I don't get it either but in most recent episode I think the barmaid was a dryad?
crazy
They're almost all going to be some form of monarchy/divine monarchy in terms of how they rule lol
Only thing that'd be different would be the economies under their rule
Cap
What
I'm wondering how much variety is in types of government in city builder isekai
Is that a game?
what
It might as well be
Sounds like a shitty Sims game
and y'all are enjoying it for some reason
O
When tf has there been a city builder isekai
Did Bob the builder get hit by a truck
can't even be a landlord in the sims, doesn't compare smh

I am well over 12 so edge is just funny now
And sorry but looking at your profile I can't help but giggle a bit
Give Cities Skylines a try! Feels awesome to see the fruits of your progress
Edge is just cringe, and excessive cringe is just trash
N o
I just don't take any edge seriously anymore
Like the "arise" scene in solo leveling was so edgy I just rolled my eyes and shook my head
Can't imagine someone was like "wowzers! He is so heckin sugoi just like watashi!!1!1"
Or some other reddit talk
I laughed my ass when Jinwoo said arise
Edge is just silly when used too much
I don't remember if he said the exact words but I recall him saying smth like "Just like video games" and I laughed out loud
Like woooow truly a manhwa of all time
What the hell is this?
Yep
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is probably the most blatant one to get an adaption
Tho there's been a few others of varying degrees
Idt I've watched it
Doesn't sound familiar
Light novel was alright, I didnt feel like it'd be anything special to watch lol
Anime came out a year or two ago iirc
TL;DR: City official gets isekai summoned to be a Hero to fight the demons, but after speaking with the king about his policy suggestions, they decide to make him King instead and he uses his city management experience to modernize the weak and destitute kingdom
Sounds like a power fantasy I can get behind
Was a nice read
I wish I had the power to do that sorta stuff
Just not sure how well it translates to anime
Wheeze
I enjoyed the 2 seasons that are out
Kinda wish it didn't go the harem route but what can you do
Bruh why would you introduce harem in there dawg
Gotta be one of most annoying modern tropes
A lot it is political 'marriages' in a sense
But this season has "Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers" where the dude (as far as I've read in the manga) stays faithful.
Flio my goat.
Title sounds like actual dookie garbage ngl
I've learned to never really judge an anime/manga on it's title because in all offense intended a lot isekai writers suck at making titles.
This one isn't actually that bad overall imo. Things like "As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World" manga title that literally spoils the entire plot are the real offenders.
the girl who was forced by her stepsister to marry the cursed duke is clearly a peak title
That sounds like an anime with a harem
The fact it doesn't is pretty awesome
Amazing title
Man, it's really hard to shill my favorite isekai LN to people because of how random the title of it is
I feel this
Like dude has every opportunity to but actively chooses not to.
Once again, Flio my goat.
He's the real chillin
I mean if your wife would make this OP for you would you need anything else?

Speaking of OPs/EDs, I haven't done my ritual of going through all the seasonal ones yet, but Sentai Daishikkaku (Go! Go! Loser Ranger!) is a strong contendor for both best OP and best ED of the season.
Both are so good

def liking the music of this one
Very nice vibes
New Mushoku Tensei OP is alright but it literally spoils the entire season so I'm not gonna share it.
Oh yeah, forgot about Ryuzoku's

Wait wtf this looks crazy
I have no idea wtf the plot could be with those visuals lol
Spaceships, dragons, sports cars, and swords
What's it called again?
Ryuzoku's the shorthand iirc
Solo leveling, more like
Catchiest OP of the season tho is Yuru Camp's, hands down.

Sorry i fell asleep
Do you still wanna talk about it
Okay so Ryuzoku is the Japanese name for Dragon Raja. This just seems to be JP release of a show that already aired 2 years ago in China????
nah, playing manor lords atm
It is related to the current Dragon Raja video game because they're based off the same Chinese novel but neither of them are related to the previous Dragon Raja MMO which was based off a completely different Korean novel also called Dragon Raja.
rip in peace
i rember trpgs not sitting well with me
Issok
Theres a chance i will think the mechancics havent aged well and i might drop it cuz of that
I dont really do well with random encounters anymore
Pokemon ruined em for me
Gee this channel is more active than I remember it being
ooh yurr dragon raja
the movie was good
excited to see how the anime turns out
It already released back in 2022 apparently. From what I can gather this is a JP dub/release of the CN show.
oh

i love cn
sounds a lot better imo
i gotta find it now lmao
