My sakugabooru favorites folder is just a compilation of how many unique weapons I can find in anime at this point
yo that's sick
on the topic of spears, I wanna share this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afqhBODc_8U
The longer version of the tests of spear versus other weapons. All of all 65 bouts, plus extra commentary.

Thanks to all those who took part, and especially Matt Easton for inviting me to the event, and...
by making it a foldable you could change the effective range, and perhaps even switch blades on the scythe to turn it into a more traditional polearm depending on the situation
though one thing that's interesting
the Polish military used scythes and had some drills oriented around the scythe as a weapon, they just weren't so curved though
so real world applications do exist, in medieval times for poor people during a revolution I guess 😅
||at least we'll have a scythe user in genshin||
wbh
why* is that spoiler xd
because leaks 👀
humm interesting
A straight shaft scythe is not really an effective weapon due to the fact that it is so incredibly unbalanced. A genuine scythe has an auxiliary handle for control
oh right leaks, forgor this is a genshin server 💀
yee, just taking a look through the first 3 or 26 pages, I found:
- chain sword
- Daggers that shoots out with a retractable string
- Dual-sided polearm that splits into nunchucks
- Concrete pillar
- A i r p l a n e s
unconventional weapons are fun lol
HEAVY ON DAGGERS WITH A STRING
BLAKE IS THAT WOMAN
so swords are really overrated huh
yall dont like katana?
huh
airplanes?
eh, it can be nice, but it's very hard for it to stand out
???
bro
u need to show me the airplanes as a weapon
wait, did you see aspect ratio black bars being used as a weapon?
Just Yozakura Quartet having the most unhinged fights lol
Airplanes are at 0:50 onward
whole sequence goes hard af tho
ahh now im reminded of the puss in boots fight
the last 10 seconds i can't 😂

I...
I've seen it and the original one lol
Unironically a work of art
!!jake
But yeh, stuff like that goes straight into a special playlist of mine on YT as soon as I see it
Love that "shitpost done extremely better than it deserves" clash
One I found a few weeks back was this artist that was like
"Okay, what if we made JJK S2's OP into a Bocchi OP... but literally redid entire scenes to make it 1:1"
https://youtu.be/0hF5oZiIh_o
#呪術廻戦 #jujutsukaisen #ぼっちざろっく
呪術opをぼっち・ざ・ろっく!で再現してみた
I've got just the thing
This is clearly the peak
monogatari series bath scene
don't look it up
wait this is amazing
wtf
I love Log Horizon. While the anime does kinda fall off quality wise as it goes on the character growth is consistently amazing. Characters that you thought were infallible monoliths are shown to still be human too and those you thought were hopeless really just needed to meet the right people to guide them along. It also handles the interactions and conflicts between the Isekai'd people and the people already in the world extremely well.
I'm so sad that this show peaked at episode 1
Hoping it gets an ending someday. That's my biggest dread as I get further and further into the show lol (I've heard the author hasn't finished the LN yet either)
what is up with monogatari??
Also did Priconne ever ||tell us in the anime that it was an Isekai||? If you know the source material you know it but I can't remember if the anime tell you that or not.
Log Horizon looks intriguing
Genuinely one of my favorite isekai anime
Pulls off the whole stuck in a real video game world thing way better than SAO ever did (I don't count Alicization for this since that wasn't supposed to be a game).
I just wouldn't get stuck in a video game
It gave hints of it (brief one or two second flashbacks of pre-isekai memories) but never explicitly stated it
any isekai is much better than SAO
False
SAO despite it's very glaring flaws is still an at least decent show at it's worst.
And a very good show at it's best
back in 2016 I found Log Horizon to be pretty boring and forgettable, but your description has made me consider rewatching to see if I change my mind
The smartphone anime would disagree
^I was gonna mention this too lmao
Ngl, at this point I think it's fair to call it an abandoned series
Author really doesn't seem to be involved with it at all anymore
I thought the smartphone anime is mid in general
I need more Akatsuki. They cannot abandon this.
what's better
a work that's polarising (SAO)?
or a work that's so mediocre it's not even mentioned when talking about isekai unless thrown in as a joke (smartphone isekai)
Idk what is
I think Mushoku Tensei makes the argument for Polarizing being better
oh yeah
if anything, Frieren's mana pool is excessive
I enjoyed it personally, but it's one of those shows where you either love or hate the humor
I enjoyed it. It's a parody show so you have to ready for that type of humor going in.
well, you need to watch until Atomic. If it works for you, then you should watch it. If it doesn't then drop it
I still don't get why people try to excuse the Mushoku Tensei mc for what he does and who he is really
Because the world/story around the MC is really well done and people want to be able to enjoy that 👀
like, this anime could work better if his behaviour was re-contextualised, as it is now tho I'm just disgusted
the story doesn't matter if you can't get past season 1
I mean you're supposed to be disgusted though
^
I kinda love rudeus, he reminds me of subaru
Irredeemable actions and living with the consequences is kind of a reoccurring theme tbh
most people drop Mushoku Tensei before it gets good
and the MC actually never becomes good enough so Idk
He does though?
don't get past season 1. Season 2 is even worse in that regard
yeah he gets better, but is it enough?
probably because hes not a MC who gets op powers outta nowhere
that's not the point tho
You think he's worse in S2?
yes
Did we watch the same show?
Isn't he ||neutered|| for most of S2?
Yea
u really just compared a child [redacted] to Subaru I can't 💀
I don't care about him being horny or not, his character is something I find revolting
i dropped re zero so dont blame me
So if the horny isn't the problem then what is?
what does him being horny have to do with the anime?
he literally couldnt get his "thing" down
that's another season and something like 8th volume in the book
That's S2. It starts right after ||Eris leaves him||
because the guy is an epithome of infantility
oh we're talking about season 1 not season 2??
for the record: I'm not arguing that Rudy is irredeemable, and I'm not arguing that the anime is bad because of the MC being revolting
I'm arguing that the MC could've been written in a more likeable way (good bad man) while still retaining the core concepts that surround his character development
But he was never intended to be portrayed in that way. You aren't supposed to like him. At least not how he starts.
I don't argue that the anime is bad, it is great. Rudy is the only problem
but why is Rudy the problem??
because the guy is an epithome of infantility
ur never supposed to like Denji from Chainsaw Man either, the guy's goals are literally to touch boobs, have sex, and also he sold his testicle, that's as miserable as it can get
but you end up liking the guy anyway as you see him grow
I don't get this. It's literally just wrong.
like, imagine every scene that Rudi is in, imagine that this is a 40 year old ugly bastard
just imagine it
Yeah, I'm pretty sure up til at the earliest ||the magic academy arc||, you're not really supposed to like Rudy. Would be hard to emphasize with the people beating the shit out of him if you liked him lol. At best, he's pitiful before that
he was not supposed to be likeable in the first place but later watching him grow, you can either like him or not
its literally up to you
Me too
idk bro I think he was always a piece of shit, even at the end of the novel
???
bro turns from a sewer to a piece of shit on the lawn, character growth much ayyy
Yes!!!! I watch two seasons
I feel like we didn't read the same story
sorry I had to rant about this
different opinions ig ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah
I guess but like wow
Like Shin Chan From Crayon Shin Chan he’s just 5 years old
He spends most of his free time post S2P1 trying to find ways to protect his family. Not really sure wtf was so bad he did past that point...
Yea
season 1 and season 2 are both good too
What about Tomoki from Sora no Otoshimono/ Heavens lost property? He’s perverted too
Comedies get treated a little differently than stories trying to take themselves seriously
Like the MC being perverted then slowly growing to be mature is pretty unique for a personality ngl
the guy is too obsessed with his own problems to be able to protect anyone, I don't even know how he progresses through the story with that attitude, maybe because "the God" literally needs to kick him every now and then for him to move forward
yeah the MC (40 yo) trying to do adultery with an 8 year old, going to doing adultery with a 15 yo (he's older than 40 now) is pretty unique ngl
ok maybe I exaggerated a bit
Yeah ^^ I bet some characters inspired by Ataru from Urusei Yatsura and Ryo from City Hunter
YES ATARU
We love Ataru 🤣🤣🤣
? His own problems? What problems is trying to solve at that point that are internal in nature?
Literally every single one of them involves a family member he needs to protect/take care of and someone trying to harm them
Brock from Pokémon he’s simp lady too
I think Lime is talking about S2P1
Which is kinda his own problem
Literally said post S2P1...
I mean every mangaka grown up watching Showa era Anime and inspired by them
Hes very funny
He literally rizzes every woman he sees
Brock underrated fr. Dude got some nice character development later on in the show
I don't remember him moving on actually. He pretends to research teleportation magic, but did he make any real progress there? Most of his academy arc is just him "having good time" for the most part and pretending to be solving other people's problems which he doesn't really
He is actually researching it though? That knowledge will come into play in S2P2.
mc remains horny until the end tho
Ok? Most humans have some level of Sex Drive. And for large sections of the later parts of the novels he's actually abstinent.
creepy horny vs vanilla horny tho
why are we even arguing about horny in this subject?
I don't really see how most things past where we are in the anime are creepy horny
the anime did a bad job showing it then. Because it seemed like all the work was done by the other girl, and him just getting the fruits of the work without actually doing much of the work himself
Tbf, it's a decent part of the character's personailty, which is what's being discussed
also I'm trying to recall the incident where ||he saves his mom|| @dusty fable
later he talks with ||DRAGON GOD ORSTEEEEEED|| and he asks about ||the dungeone, Roxy, and his wives, and I don't remember if, had he acted sooner, his mom wouldn't have to be an invalid||
Yeah I mean why we can’t have different opinions?
becomes less creepy horny type, but still there
||Don't think it would have made a difference with the mom. She was in that dungeon right away from the teleportation incident iirc. Main thing that might've been different is his dad, but we dont really know if him going earlier could have stopped thst considering they'd fight that boss regardless||
or was it the other way around, did he talk with ||DRAGON GOD ORSTEEEEEED|| before going to ||save his dad and mom? don't remember||
I think that is outside what has happened in the anime? I didn't read the books
||Osted is after||
He talks with ||Orsted post-dad and mom. He seeks out Orsted after|| ||he gets the vision from the future about ManGod being evil after coming home||
||ahh yeah his dad also suffered||
Yea this whole convo is kinda fucked because some of us have read the novels and some haven't
bear in mind it's been 8 years since I've read the books so 💀
I've recently reread everything post where we are in the anime
Yea
Im caught up to just past ||the iron man fight||, but I need to read the rest still
Hoping we get an S3 just to get that fight adapted tbh
The what?
||Mech suit Rudy vs Orsted||
Oh shit I thought you were way further than that
Ngl I know it won't happen but I kinda hope they do that arc as a movie because a movie budget for that would go hard.
||I totally forgor the mech fight lmao||
that's when he started being ||on good terms with DRAGON GOD ORSTEEEEEEED||
Yea
||he like sent a letter to Eris saying "bish imma fight DRAGON GOD ORSTEEEEEED" and then went for it||
I finished Volume 16, and havent started 17 yet. So I had just gotten to the part where ||Orsted orders him to help make Ariel into the queen of her kingdom||
So a bit further lol
ah that's the part where I started losing interests
the teenage me and ||politics|| innit
finally stopped reading at 19 volumes with the intent to come back, but I never did
I got to that point and was like "okay, imma speed through this when I get to it... there's only 2 novels to go til publishing's done. Imma just wait for them both to come out so I can do the final volumes in one go"
Yea and that doesn't even really happen until 18 so you still got a bit to go.
it's funny tho, when I read the books I didn't mind Rudy's creepy behaviour as much
but now that I'm older I just want him to have perma erectile dysfunction
this story would be as good even without the creepy horny type behaviour
Eris went for the wrong head with her roundhouse kick fr
Just make him a eunuch right there in Episode ||8||
TRUE
Tbf she stomps on it right after
Or is at least implied to
If I was making anime and I want to inspired one of my childhood show Pucca
you know how
Eris ||despite actually exceeding his sex drive in some cases does still continue to beat him up when he pushes things to far||.
in Soul Land there's this character where, they burn his pee pee, like, it's gone
that's what Rudy needs
I don't think that would fix your problems with him
||based 2nd wife||
||3rd||
||or maybe first cuz he formed a deep bond with her first?||
||sylphie is a bit different i guess||
||if we're talking power dynamics I think Eris would be first, cuz she's the most dominant||
She’s my favorite
||I mean in terms of Marriage she's the 3rd but she got all his firsts||
||that's so true||
white haired girls always win innit
||Roxy is best girl imo but Eris is a close second.||
I don't think you need to spoiler that
Probably not
Roxy also my fav, but
||why did he take her panties a build a shrine with them?? he was even praying????||
I know it's a gag but still 💀
is it even a gag tho, knowing the mc 💀
She’s my second favorite
Probably because he’s shin chan
You know Shin chan from Crayon Shin Chan?
I don't
thinking about it, the only thing I like about Roxy is her design, but really she would be a boring partner huh
It’s comedy anime that I grew up watching
guess im the only one who loves sylphie
I love her too
I’m glad they reunited and it’s make me cry
Childhood friends to lovers
Might wanna spoiler that for people still on S1
I mean in the grand scheme of things it's not the biggest deal. It's in the actual anime at this point and that sort of stuff is the stuf that gets spoiled the most.
Just a considerate thing to do if you remember
I think the policy for this channel is 3 months but it's either over that or close enough.
Anyway
Love DanMachi
Me too
Both parts of S4 went hard
I've read the LN up to the volume before the most recent one and it gets crazier
who doesnt love bell cranel
The ultimate underdog
Me

ill admit, sao at aincrad started really good
Wish there’s was isekai anime when female mc tamer to Unicorns
black summoner is also good
Slime anime is good
I can't see the new Star Wars movie untill next week so in relation to that: Please don't be a Homer for me ;)

When anime fans spoilers manga be like
Her (Eris) VA's coming to a convention I'm going to next week and doing a Q&A. Trying to think of good questions to ask 👀
...okay, I've reread that last half of the sentence several times and Im still not sure what that's meant to say 😅
trying to think of good isekai anime, and there isn't much tbh:
Inuyasha, KonoSuba, re:zero, Youjo Senki, Drifters
(the rest I haven't seen or they fall into the okay-ish category)
(or i forgor about them)
isekai anime with female mc who tames unicorns (kind of like slime rancher but for unicorns)
...but why unicorns specifically lol
ah I just recalled Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions
it's very slow but it's a good watch (less so a good read)
There's a decent amount if you include light novels, but yeah, the isekais that get adaptions tend to be the most generic ones
it's like a classic u know
imagine having vending machine isekai before unicorns isekai, I can't live in that world 😭
do you have any recommendations for manga/novels in that regard?
Because I love Unicorns
YES INUYASHA
personally though couldn't stand Inuyasha, but I know it's good anyway
Haha
names so far:
Slow
Loco Moco
Vision
and then there's a normal name like Tina
Naofumi is a great written character ngl
shield hero is amazing
Yeah and plus I think he’s handsome
Was a bit delayed since I was driving at the time
But these are some of the ones I've enjoyed the most:
- Overlord: (the light novels are much better than the anime adaption imo. They give characters like Albedo and others way more detailed personal stories/arcs)
- Ascendance of a Bookworm: A very slow burn. But some of the most detailed worldbuilding I've seen, and it handles the ramifications of "modern person with modern tech" on society in a really interesting way.
- MinMax my TTRPG: Stupidest title ever, but honestly this one's one of the best light novels I've read. So many unique characters and history to the world, and the character is just balanced enough that he really has to push himself to survive most encounters.
- Hell Mode: Unique premise and a grounded MC like MinMax. Every arc completes in the volume it started in too, so no cliffhangers.
- Tearmoon Empire: Great comedy that does the "accidental and unintentional" genius trope very well. The narrator is savage with roasting the MC

- Record of Wortenia War: Basically imagine a dude with Navy Seal training gets isekai'd into a world obsessed with war. Good war games series. (Der Werewolf is another similar war games heavy one. Think it was an isekai too iirc)
Honorable mentions:
- Only the Villainous Lord Wields the Power to Level Up
- Fake Saint of the Year: You wanted the perfect Saint? Too bad!
- I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire (this one's a guilty pleasure lol)
oh yes, finally, a font with l
Wall of text time
Overlord: watched, it was okay
Ascendance of a Bookworm: did not enjoy
the rest I will check out
it was funny how it took a whole anime of Bookworm to make a book, and then there was Dr. Stone s1, both ongoing at the same time, who slapped paper and books in a minute
TRUE
Dr Stone's feat list is kinda wack tbh
well, it was never intended as an actual representation of scientific process or invention process, just to make kids interested in chem and phys, which it did a great job of I think
Good ol "anime to promote the public good" lol
Still convinced personally that Over the Moon for You and How Heavy are your Dumbbells were psyops by the Japanese government to try and turn weebs into functioning members of society
The first to promote getting married, the second to get them at least somewhat active
there's an entire shounen sport genre to promote fitness too
pretty sure some of the anime is sponsored by Japanese gov for many reasons
haikyu made me stop hating volleyball
Laid Back Camp was literally a direct collaboration with the campsites/prefecture it took place in iirc
I think Space Brothers was also sponsored by Jaxa, not sure
Every time I watch Gekai Elise, it is such a blast from the past, in terms of OP cinematics
effects, music, as if I am back in 2000x
I wait for "Lantis-to okorishimasu" in the end of the OP, voiced credits to sponsors
Torture Princess has been a very solid read up to where I’ve read. And it’s complete too and not very long. Be warned though, it’s got some gruesome descriptions. But I’ve found its characters very compelling.
Heck
I actually FORGET it’s technically an isekai bc of how different its tone is

Its final cover art is so…

nice
if you count older series that didn’t coin the term “isekai” back then but technically are one (ie. escaflowne and twelve kingdoms), those are good imo
“now and then here and there” is an example from 1999 that I like to shill from time to time
pacifist boy gets isekai’d and tries to convince warmongers to change their ways but doesn’t work and for some eps it gets a lil brutal at times
ayo thx
It worked
I started exercising
Am I’m only one who love male mc into a cute girl?

Have you read/watched Fantasy Bishoujo?
Yes
You know Ranma 1/2
Nope. I just knew that show was one of the better examples of what you were talking about lol
Like this one
#animebodyswap #bodyswap #femalepossession #femaleshapeshift
omg jjk blu ray version has extended fight scenes
and no dimming
time to rewatch i guess
Damn bruh just caught up with jjk manga
||how the fuck is sukuna going to defeated lmao||
||gojo kashimo yuji higurama choso yuta maki stood no chance||
||give up and die I guess||
is it time for a black zetsu
Lmao pls no
I would rather let ||sukuna win||

My favorite manga is getting an anime
what is it??
Medalist
@edgy bone
How’s it look so far?
Engi usually fuck it up from episode 2 onwards
Lets see if they can beat the allegation
Yeah
It’s a wait and see
Ideally best case scenario is they get some hella good outsourcing and scheduling behind it
Artstyle ,animation, scene composition all look very verynice
I suppose
But its a trailer which always uses the best looking scenes
Give ig a few eps to make sure its consistent
I didn't know this got adapted, nice
skimming through wtf is up with that pacing in the anime
mannn
it got generic treatment 😔
ok maybe 1.7 chapters per episode isn't that bad
I just wanna say though, the anime doesn't do the manga justice|
although it's a novel adaptation first sooo, but still, imagine if the world if we had this
this is such a Berserk moment tbh
Guys, are there any surveys for japanese people's interest in what genre of manga/anime they like? Because it seems that nowadays a manga can be easily axed if they aren't popular in japan
ugh
manga magazines still have the tradition of fans sending physical surveys with their weekly rankings
that's one of the factors they use for deciding what stays
if you use mangaplus whenever shonen jump chapters go up their upload order is the same as their magazine order
which is roughly the same as their rankings give or take some extra influences like wether they hit a big milestone or have a big announcement to make, then they go at the front regardless
if you see a series at the bottom of the list for multiple weeks in a row it's most likely getting axed
isekai slice of life villainness comedy judging by current trends
generally very little serious stories
you could argue that the works for the genres I mentioned are, on average, created more often than others, but there's also the argument where they're getting created en-masse because of the demand
what juca said is also true, it's the primary determining factor more often than not
eh
i wouldnt give a specific answer
japanese fandom is p large with different subgroups
you can't realistically judge it as a whole
also i wouldnt say it's the primary factor
if anything the primary factor is 1st volume sales
if you notice jump axes most series around the 20 chapter mark
and a volume has roughly 10 chapters
to me that suggests that they wait for the 1st volume to release and see how well it sells, then if it's not good enough it's axed but they wait till there's enough extra chapters for a 2nd volume so the chapters that were released in the meanwhile aren't magazine exclusive/ so they can get the most money out of the situation
Man, japanese's interest is weird
it's not a good idea in general to make blanket statements about anything like that
Well, i target that statement for readers that aren't liking what they see on the market, because you can have some good mangas but still getting axed because japanese people don't like it
"good" and "weird" are entirely subjective
people like what they like
you could flip the statement on its head and say your tastes are weird for not liking what's popular in japan
Well, sorry to say, but i like some of villainess mangas
But ykw, i think the solution for this problem is to release them internationally to see, if the manga isn't popular on japan but still popular globally, then they can continue the manga
that would just extend the problem with a few other countries
the only countries where manga is popular enough to warrant more frequent physical releases and atenttion are the us and france
and then instead of saying "japanese have weird tastes" people would say " japanese americans and french have weird tastes"
i have finished dungeon meshi and goodness gracious its fucking amazing
I think in this context it's fine to generalise, especially cuz you can observe the market and see what gets made the most and what gets read the most
of course there's more nuance to this, but here we're specifically focused on general trends
they do be weird ngl
but I don't think that's what he meant
it's kinda interesting tho, there's definitely a difference in how Japanese and the west depict interpersonal conflicts of characters, where they place higher focus, etc
define west
western by modern standards (+ Australia)
I haven't watched much of other eastern fiction, but
cuz japan is eastern of everything else on the map
china is technically west of them
ive seen people use the word west when talking about stuff that's entirely american only
USA, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, nordic countries, Poland (borderline), Czechia, Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium, Romania, Greece
ive seen people use the word west to talk about everything non-asian
the west east split is kind of tied to the cold war period of eastern and western blocks (+ Australia for some reason)
that's a wide range of countries
it is
i really wouldnt go as far as to say they depict media in the same way
I'm talking about the general trends here
also
USA has a large influence on today's world culture, especially on the countries that it's close with (a lot of Europe really)
Usually eastern is categorized as the Americas and Europe, but to countries like Japan it might include other continents like Africa
Sorry I meant western
if I were to define it
Japanese media focus a lot on intrapersonal conflicts, often giving them manifestations and such
the west (mostly America and western Europe) focus in external conflicts
Since the "eastern" is the eastern hemisphere for the most part iirc
And western hemisphere is the west
I'd say Japanese stories, at least to me, feel a lot more personal and intimate too
but I may be biased
Does the specific countries/areas within Europe matter in the grand scheme of the conversation though?
i'd say that's more to do with production practices more than anything else
especially if we're talking weeb stuff
manga and light novels are stories written by 1 author overwhelmingly majority of the time, and they're given creative freedom to do what they want for the most part
I think what the Japanese put focus on in their stories is indicative of their history, culture, and past and modern society
with american shows it's usually a full team of writers and the publishing company has a more involved role in what's being written and what isn't
Some venture off into other cultures and things, but most seem to stem from their own
Well you see, that's the big difference
You're comparing a manga to a full fledged TV show
if you go through national media of each country you can find quite a wide range of stories
most people just dont see them cuz they aren't globalized
There's one writer for a manga because that manga is that one person's vision, and many shows have a full team because they need to come up with multiple episode seasons at a time and have animators work alongside them for what's being written
Ye
and the internet americans kinda propagated this idea that all europe countries are mostly the same or very similar which isn't the case and is a big pet peeve of mine
but I don't mean cherrypick, I mean to find common trends
and differences
I am guilty of this only because nobody ever teaches us otherwise
We just learn about the Renaissance in school and then ww1 and 2 and that's all we know about Europe
victorian era was goated, y'all missing out
Meme that highlights the contrast
https://youtu.be/h-J_jRFNluY
European Comics vs American Comics vs Japanese Comics
The most we get into other cultures is China because of how long they existed and how much culture is jam packed into that fucking country
i am aware but i given the conversation context i assume caveman was talking about weeb stuff when referring to japanese media he consumes
I'd like to mention that a lot of mangaka have teams of assitants
also
American way is also seen in Chinese and Korean webtoons
and? the point was that the mangaka do everything on their own, which isn't as true anymore
My Dearest Frieren,
As I commit these ink-stained pages to the void, my soul is rent asunder by the cruel twist of fate that compels me to bid you adieu. The weight of our impending separation hangs heavy upon my weary heart, a burden too great to bear, yet one that I must shoulder nonetheless.
From the moment our destinies intertwined, you became the lodestar of my existence, guiding me through the tempest of life with an ethereal grace that defied comprehension. Your presence was a beacon in the darkness, a ray of hope amidst the encroaching shadows, and now, as I stand upon the precipice of your absence, I find myself engulfed in a maelstrom of despair.
Oh, how the memories of our shared odyssey torment me, each recollection a cruel reminder of the fragility of our mortal coil. From the blood-soaked fields of battle to the hallowed halls of ancient ruins, we traversed the breadth of existence together, bound by a bond forged in the crucible of adversity.
Yet now, as the final chapter of our tale unfolds, I am powerless to stem the tide of sorrow that threatens to consume me whole. For in your absence, dear Frieren, the world loses its luster, its vibrancy fading into shades of gray beneath the weight of my grief.
Every whispered secret, every unspoken truth, every stolen glance—all serve as embers in the funeral pyre of our friendship, burning bright against the backdrop of an indifferent universe. And as I watch the flames dance and flicker in the twilight of our parting, I am overcome by a profound sense of loss, the magnitude of which defies articulation.
Farewell, beloved companion, and may the heavens weep for our tragic separation. Though the chasm of eternity may divide us, know that you will forever dwell in the recesses of my shattered soul, a haunting specter of what once was and what could have been.
With tear-stained cheeks and a heavy heart,
C4 Furina > C1 Furina
realistically it's not like it is worth the school's time to teach about culture of every single country in existence so i understand where it's coming from
but yea
speaking of
one second
I've been thinking for a while that as European we suck at representing our culture and because Hollywood definitely won't represent it faithfully we should finally realize that it's on us and start doing something about it.

But yes writing a story takes time and, unless it's being done spontaneously as the artist creates, is either in their head already and they're going off of that (an example being the mangaka for berserk, who hadn't written down his story but joyfully shared it with his assistants before passing so they could continue it as best they could), or have it written down beforehand as something like a light novel and use that as a schematic for the comic itself

y'all should play Disco Elysium tbh
In the same way that American movies use already written novels as the basis for their films
written by an Estonian
go ahead
personally I've played through it twice by now
the point i was trying to make is that of course a story is gonna feel more personal when it's all being written by 1 person with a (usually mostly) unchanged vision vs a team of writers that all compete for which ideas stay in and then the publisher coming in and censoring/demanding extra stuff on top of that
I think this is true for any country really
question is how many of them make up the total amount of movies produced?
another question: what r the common trends that the writers follow in each country?
like, you ever noticed how much supernatural stuff Japanese writers crank into their works? We're talking like spirits, demons, gods, etc
u don't see it that often in the american stories aside from like vampires and werewolves which are the equivalent of the Japanese supernatural I guess? I just wanted to gush about it sorry for the wall of text T.T
america is a very new country comparatively to everyone else
they didnt have time to foster a proper mythology
meanwhile japan has one of the richest mythologies on the planet
America still has it's culture tho
yes but there's not much supernatural stuff you can pull from it
they may have some myths, some inherited from indigenous tribes too
most you have is cryptids
That's why romance has a low chance of being axed, it includes internal problem
It's okay lol
But yeah that's fair
Such as emotional problem
actually
Technically we did, with natives, but colonists were such a threat to them and they kept their culture close enough that it's a total mystery to the vast majority of the world because the natives don't want their culture bastardized
you just reminded me of something
if you want manga that's not popular but doesn't get axed (as easily) pick up any weekly comedies
sure, I've attempted to describe what Japan focuses on their stories and how they present it, but that's only part of the picture, and citing it as a reason for why romances do well would be reductive Imo
Like iirc the wendigos of that one game were the closest representation any modern game or film has ever seen for them
those usually stick around as long as theyre doing just okay in sales
can that be considered american culture then?
And also, nowadays, Light Novel (LN) seems to be more popular in japan, people outside of japan like to see illustration out of a story, but japanese people like writings only
I'd say specific to native Americans
Since "American" is just a hodge podge of many different cultures that all moved and melded together over time here
We have some stuff specific to us
Over usage of the word "nowadays", sorry
though romances also do well globally, for which there may be very many reasons such as mass loneliness, starving for love, etc
what are you basing this on
But a LOT of it is adapted from the innumerable cultures that have settled down here since we opened the harbors
A manga could be axed, but their adaptation, LN, could still be continuing
ugh
can you give an example of that happening?
also that's just a publishing medium issue
it doesnt really reflect popularity
I've usually seen the opposite, manga adaptation ends early cuz the light novel got cancelled
yea that's why i asked
though that depends on the publishers, I really haven't dug into it personally
only manga series ive heard of that get light novels later on are the extremely popular ones
Light novels are generally easier for an author to continue than a manga, given that manga have strict weekly/monthly demand while light novels are "it's done when it's done" as far as the reader is concerned
there's still some form of deadline though, but it's way more flexible than a manga yea
eh
idk like
the nglnl author has been delaying his books for years kek
i assume it's a publisher thing
Some authors go years between writing volumes in their series
yea
I think most of it is vice versa, most manga came from light novel
also popular mangaka getting special treatment
Does anybody watch Chinese Anime/Donghua?
what's your source
cuz that's a really big statement
I've watched a few, only finished a small handful (dropped the rest)
Well I do watch Balala the Fairies
Berserk author (may him rest in peace) released like 3 chapters a year or something cuz he was busy playing idolmaster /half joking
It’s like Chinese Magical Girl kinda like Precure
ive been meaning to watch that chinese animation movie that sold really well
Romance manga
That's a source?
i dont see how you'd be able to claim that most of all manga came from light novels from just that
seen a couple, so far I haven't found anything great 😔
Not most then, but a lot of it, i think it's because making illustration out of story is hard
Here you can find the episodes of the series Hungarian Folk Tales in English.
The Hungarian Folk Tales stem from original folktale collections, every episode has its special authentic ornamentation. The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully...
a lot of light novels certainly do get their manga, at least from what I've noticed
theres this older tv show with hungarian folk tales that for some reason has all of them english dubbed up on youtube now
Most of the light novels ive read have no manga
don't got no sources other than trust me bro
used to watch the romanian dub on tv as a kid
yoo that sounds sick
basically all countries that interacted with hungary over their history adopted a lot of these fables
ive read romanian variations of them in fairy tale books when i was young
decent way to get a feel for the culture of the countries in that geographical region
I love European cultures
A lot of isekai manga are coming from light novel
this makes me wonder how much of Polish folklore took influence from Romania considering the past relationship between them
im not super familiar with polish stuff so can't comment
You've seen The Witcher tho?
nop
rip
The Witcher? Never heard of that
if u want, I won't be watching tho
from my experience a lot of romanian stuff is borrowed from other neighbour countries cuz we got conquered by everyone kek
a lot of our traditional dishes have turkish roots
lol same
Play assassin's creed or soul's games
our language is considered latin but we have a lot of russian words in it
when i was watching the jhon wick movies i was very surprised to recognize random words during the russian conversations
Does anyone watch Pucca?
it's this first super big hit Polish game that got international acclaim
the whole world was acting like this is some peak fiction creativity meanwhile here I am, a Polish person, who has been exposed to these tales since young, look at 'em like >.>
Where do you come from? (Your ethnicity, not the source of what you're talking about)
romania
That’s cool maybe I’ll give it try sometime
Oh, ok
say, hypothetically, you find yourself in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in Russia
would you be able to understand each other enough to get a meal and book a hotel room?
Well, have you ever searched for what manga is the most popular in romania?
nah
rip
what's the country you can understand the easiest?
english is the only other language im fluent in
aside from english
i took french for 8 years technically but when you dont use it outside of school it's kinda pointless you dont really retain anything
i can like
get a vague idea of a sentence if you show me something in french but that's about it
we have this weird Polish Slovakian thing where we can understand each other as if we're natives, but in person it feels like "this person is speaking Polish words but it's not Polish???" such a weird feeling I tell you
Je m'appelle Flame
humu humu
so I meant it more like this sorta thing @edgy bone
ye i don't have an equivalent to that
Can you know what i'm saying?
nop it's latin
well yea that's like the first thing they teach you kek
What is it then?
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement, it's kinda pointless if you don't use it outside of school
ah I got it confused mb
I spent 6 years learning Spanish and I can't understand it for shit because I never used it
my name is flame
everyone agrees, but we still need to learn like this 💀
wtf is education system doing
😭

Quiero un helado
from like animation universities in france
Ooooh
French anime is cool
I saw one French animation last year
Uhh
I forgot the name hold on
French anime
Franime
Fr#nime
it wasnt really anime
most of it was stop motion stuff i think?
it's been a long time lol
oh ok
This kinda reminds me of me and learning Japanese. I just don’t really have the incentive just yet.
it should be free on youtube if you know what to search for
Radiant
honestly to me it was kinda wild to see the french having universities dedicated to this
I don’t watch as much anime nowadays. Some games here and there and manga at best.
But not as much as I used to when I was younger
idk how france specifically developed such a big culture around drawing and animation
It's the final stepping stone in unlocking a weeb's hidden potential 😤
see
I remembered that i bought two volumes of radiant and haven't reading it
japanese i do wanna learn
i could use it to watch raws without subs
It's cute and I loved it
Been making slow but steady progress in Japanese here.
Vocab's still iffy, but I've got hiragana and most of katakana down
think I've seen this!
Although I did want to learn Japanese so could read a self-published comic from an artist whose books I own.
But haven’t really gotten around to it atm
I want to learn japanese so I don't need to wait for the late translation on pirate sites to publish (what i meant is manga)
I want to learn Japanese for equal parts traveling to Japan, and also to help out the scanlation scene for the types of manga I like
ok i haven't seen this, but I want to watch it now
~~watch the stuff i posted too ~~
got it saved alrdy
I still don't understand how tony valente can make Radiant look like a manga when it's a manfra
Manfra?
I assume french manga?
Oh
im not sure what's there to understand
It's a word for a French comic, even though it's weird they used manga as a root for the word
Also, Radiant has its own animation show
I just googled it and apparently it's not the word for French comics as a whole, just the term used for French comics that are inspired by Japanese manga
Apparently the actual term is bandes dessinées
Or bandes for short
Or BDs according to Wikipedia
Ye
literal translation would be smth like drawn roll/sheet (of paper)
we call it the same in romanian
Yeah
Manrom?
But manga has its own roots too in just calling it a story
/j
ah right side note
i fell asleep during the shining
and i woke up when the guy was being chased by that old naked woman in the bath
what a way to wake up
i'll get back to you on that in a few years
im trying to make this year be the juca self improvement arc (technically started late last year but good enough)
granted since february ive been slacking
need to get back to it
I can't help but perceive self improvement as something with a negative connotation
my experience with the community surrounding this topic has been incredibly toxic
wdym by self improvement arc tho
get in shape
get an issue fixed with my nose that's been bugging me for a long time now
make some irl friends
get a girlfriend
get a job
What is the source?
google elf isekai behemoth cat
Slightly? The website I use shows hardcore ecchi
halal
make ecchi halal when
ok so she and he reincarnated and bro usedto be a knight and she used to be a dragon
Well, the website i use has this detailed sub section where you can get romance but specify it to childhood friends sub
do they know each other in the other world/reincarnated selves
though the dragon girl is a side kick so w/e
cat isekaid, she hadn't
i mean i read the inukai manga so yea
And for ecchi, they can specify it to partial nud- or nud-
(fun read btw art is peak)
how are you planning to approach/solve these issues?
i am not caught up
Pretty good if you want to read something but you don't know what's the little things the manga has inside of it
tbh i am not caught up with most of my manga
one day i'll get back to it
lately it's been comfier to just binge movies
What is America like after experiencing life in Europe? BIG. Consumerism. Gun violence. The homeless. The police. "What do you do for work?"
This is how I see the US after living in the Netherlands for 5 years. Sometimes it takes leaving a place for one to truly understand the pros and cons of a place. There are things I love and dislike about ...
@tidal shore
i remembered watching this video
and getting culture shock from the supermarket thing
@next crescent
hey I watched that before
the biggest culture shock I got from watching NotJustBikes, and various other videos on urban planning
though tbf, idk about Romania, but even in Poland you can see American influence, especially with supermarkets and infinite parking lots
influence sure
but to that extent?
even in the bigger supermarkets i dont remember ever seeing that many brands for one product
there are areas
there's quite a few, normally between 5 to 20 brands ye
depends on the product
didn't see that level of product variety in Germany
would normally be only a handful (like 2 to 3 options for the more popular products)
ok 20 is too much, more like 10 max
think the only thing I ever saw anything close to 10 for was chocolate products lol
Good, because German chocolate is great
German and Swiss
But yeah everything in that video is true
Wanna know what's even funnier about the toilet paper thing
We got even more brands when covid hit and everyone was panic buying all the toilet paper
the other day, i was talking about our "guard" dog (just sleeps, only barks when hungry), dont even talk about him that much and that ONE time i talk about him i get pet food ads the next day
Under 12 episodes again smh

We will miss this 😭

Btw i started watching re zero from the start i watched like 12 eps yesterday
also yall watch cardcaptor sakura??
gonna rewatch it someday
Seems like people in my country (well, not all of them, but some of them) are now agreeing that JJK is getting repetitive
…they’re only realizing now lol
I won’t lie its a very effective formula to keep it dragging going since it’s supposedly going to end soon
"end soon" translates to at least a year or two
At the rate this fight is going, i would say 2 years
yeah lol
The ending is either sukuna win and he takes over the world, yuji wakes up his mysterious power that has rumor circulating him, or gojo suddenly got revived and fights exhausted sukuna
knowing gege, its going to be a "somehow palpatine returned" moment with gojo

That's not even the point
Shit is funny cause MAPPA is doing it
oh I know. You just took me down nostalgia lane for a bit, so I'm indulging.

Shirobako will always be a GOAT
"MAPPA making an anime original series about an animator working in the industry and finishing their all cuts ridiculously quickly is possibly the most insidious, shameless thing to come from this studio and that's a high bar given their track record."
I also reccomend dungeon meshi, its awesome
THE JOURNEY TO ENDE CONTINUES WHEN???
Madoka is... in the same way that "Gushing Over Magical Girls" is.
There are indeed magical girls in that anime... ||who very much wish they were literally anything else||
Homura best girl tho
omg bocchi reference
I’ve only seen the tv show but yeah it’s pretty good
is this the first time we've seen lucci emote
man
im really digging all the luffy scenes
oldschool cartoons
i forgot this guy existed
also wait
i had to go back
did luffy legit one shot kizaru?

STRAIGHT YAOI ANIME?!
💖 5.65K 🔁 750
has anybody watched ninja kamui yet??
can anyone tell if the eyes on this plate are a specific character?
Idk maybe ai from oshi no ko
There's alot of characters with white star eyes though
Guys
Where manga of frieren
Continue
After the anime
Which chapter
I can't wait for it to release a s2
I need more frieren in my life
Thanks in advance
Around chapter 50-60 i think? i dont remember the specific chapter
I think that's the ugliest so I've seen
The body horror is making me cry inside
The eyes also freak me out
i also noticed just now the fingers
I used to say that 6 months ago
the show was still going 6 months ago
once the recency bias wears off thats when you see real changes
the real feat is how long can it maintain #1
Just finished the shining
I feel extremely underwhelmed
The movie legit did nothing for me
I didnt find any of the scenes scary at all, the acting went between silly to annoying, the plot is barely there and is full of unexplained elements
I dont get the appeal at all
What you guys think about Shangri-La? I think its a sleeper this season... not many talks about it smh~
i dropped it when they took like 10 episodes to start to fight this one boss
I've read the manga, it helps cuz I get to skip all the boring stuff
didn't know it could happen, top 1 anime of all time that I could never get into
Dude don't cry more
This anime is a masterpiece
Not every need to have action
And overpowered mc
Ok
So for you in what place it should be
For me it's better than fmab
And I've seen both
I dont care about rankings
I was memeing on how fmab always goes back on top after a while
Fmab it's good but hunter x hunter is a lot better
Try to be less aggresive next time you see something you dont agree with
I don't think they will do that this time
Because other fambases
Are giving 1
To them
Like aot
For me fmab is not the best anime
Doubt but we'll see ig
I'm agressive because i see a lot of people call it a boring souless anime
Just because it's not their typical overpowered anime
It's not even about the plot
Finally someone has put Yorushika on anime playlist, I think it's the first time I hear her in anime
same for me. First episodes were very good, but then the author just stretched the story. Simply can't relate to the characters for the most part
If that was a singular you instead of a plural you (damn you english language)
I dont watch new seasonal anime anymore
Ill try to binge it soon
Watching hazbin now
Its a lot better than i expected
The most anticipated for me this season
