Those I watched too long ago to be exactly sure. Samurai Champloo could have had very good animations. But most of my memories are generally better, because the overall quality was mostly worse (except for some OVAs and movies where studios like MAD House or Bones went bonkers)

Apothecary diaries has some downsides but I would argue it's still the best anime of the winter season. And I didn't really like the first 3-4 episodes. It comes up with an overarching story later, and then with even more overarching story much later. It is pretty well engineered but maybe too well for its own good (it loses some natural flow of the story from time to time because of it)

tbh, medical mysteries is really a backdrop to everything that happens (that funnily enough is put in the front). She could have been a scribe and the show wouldn't really be worse off. So while poisons and stuff do setup a stage and give her a quirk, the show is not only about it (for me at least)

Ehh, I don't mind. I think it's a rather niche show. If you don't like the style of narration, you are unlikely to enjoy it later because it doesn't change. But in terms what the show can offer, first 4 episodes are not really a thing

I would even argue that the mysteries are a weaker side of the story, like the sort of attemts of J.K.Rowling to add detective elements to Harry Potter, which are cute and mesh well with the story, but still no more than cute (and in both cases it is likely to be intentional)
