I was told that Domestic na kanojo is not good, so it's not the case with Kuzu no honkai
kuzu no honkai was great
hot take
it's like
oh i just remembered what domestic na kanojo is
oh no
The story of kuzu no honkai is said to be a little messed up
I NEED MORE FRIEREN
my mcd bag turned into a manga awau

This episode was so pretty
Definitely not Tomohisa Taguchi work, but not bad at all
they repping it here in the west
What does the west mean in this context
Cuz by some definitions i also technically live in the west but i im fairly certain they wouldnt do any manga promotions around here
I should check next time i go out just out of curiosity
humu humu

i hate living here
besides that im fine
Don't shit so much damn

people upstairs throwing tissues and toilet paper in a sewage system made durin communism that wasn't designed to handle that stuff
but they never see the outcome of it cuz they live on the higher floors
so i have to deal with it instead
smh
did you eat burritos or somethin??
he ate communism and wasn't designed to handle that stuff
Hilarious moment from One Piece

luffy moment
oh communism right
yes, sharing is caring. His neighbours upstairs shared their sewage. But if you share too much, it can overwhelm the system
I have to ask
actually, I need some validation
why does Luffy have to be such a silly goose all the time, why can't he be more complex, why does he have to be so simple-minded 😔
it's been bugging me when I read the manga, then watched the anime, then re-read the manga again (this time in colour)
and it never stops bugging me
thats how the author likes to write him
im not sure what answer you were expecting
sorry it's not your thing
or well
i say likes to write him
but
oda's mentioned a few times in past sbss that he got to the point where he thinks of his characters as actual people and just kinda vibes with what he thinks would be normal for them to do next/act in a certain way
it's the whole gardener vs arhitect thing if youve heard about that
The last few episodes have been especially spectacular
That girl looks pretty cool
😃
💀
Honestly ive seen so many astolfo memes that i dont remember much about the actual character
lmfao
femboy
haram
i forgot radwimps is having a concert in my country and selling tickets rn
I drew Mine from Akame Ga Kill but I made her more princess-like than she already is-
am i tweaking? ep 8 of solo leveling the chars are calling each other by jp styled names instead of korean names?
apparantly the site im watching this ep on got it from some other source
were there always 2 versions
dang there always has been wtf
Three technically iirc
Korean dub with Korean names
Jp dub with Korean names
Jp dub with JP names
sleeper episode 😴
Jp dub also changes the setting of the series from Seoul to Tokyo, and later on, the "Japan" that tries to do some fucked up stuff is change to totally-not-Japan (fictional country name)
Finished
I had this happen on episode 2 where I was watching it. I was so confused.
Yeah, the version where they have Japanese names and locations is exclusively shown in Japan while worldwide gets the Korean names because Japan x Korea political tensions
All the initial trailers for the animated series used the Japanese names
And a lot of people (myself included) were kind of annoyed they changed the names, not realizing it was the version they'd be viewing in Japan and was probably the first version they voiced
My thought is they probably nabbed the jp version they could get when uploading and that was most likely the jp names one
Hopefully that site fixes it for consistency's sake
what the heck that's like super epic trivia, collectors are going to go crazy over this in a few decades

anybody watched that healing magic anime??
I 'watched' the first episode but I fell asleep during it. That's not a poor reflection on the show I was just tired af and I don't feel like rewatching it to see the parts I missed.
i stopped after a couple eps cuz it became clear that it wont be like the other healing magic anime
White a nice vase
I didn't realize until I saw you said jjk
😭
I started seeing the tattoos
Very interesting cloth choice
It’s my sister’s dog’s doing when there’s a leftover towel

I KNOW THE DRUMS ARE REALLY BAD I DIDNT WANNA FIX IT BECAUSE IM LAZY
Base form model of Osaka from the anime Azumanga Daioh (2002), rigged in Live2D. Will add OHMYGAH and SATA ANDAGIII faces/items in the future. Still unpolished but will continue to work on model.

Oh ma gah
anybody like bungou stray dogs?
Yeah
I think it's good
I like the mix of comedy, drama, and action
Along with of course the mystery
A lot of girls like dazai*
idk who that is but i'll take your word for it
One of the mcs
i'll get around to watching it sometime this year hopefully
i dont like dazai so dont count me in
ive been watching a lot of live action movies recently
im just looking for detective anime at this point
finished all the pirates movies and watched inception yesterday
now im onto the alice in wonderland movies
its good
only a 2010 lover though
Bungou is probably my favorite detective anime, though I haven't watched too many to make much of a comparison
do you specifically want it to be about detectives or just anything with mind games works
kaiji is my favorite mind fuckery anime
it's not a mystery but all the thinking and tricks and mind fuckery moments scratch the same itch for me
can't really think of any standout detective anime that ive seen
did the ron kamonohashi anime start?
manga was p good with that
I fw kaiji a lot
there's only one anime adaptation afaik
so yea
like
i can think of a bunch of shonen/seinen stuff with mystery subplots
two seasons along with a tonegawa spin off
there's also akagi which is from the same author
I haven't peeped the tonegawa spinoff too dw
i watched like 2 or 3 eps, saw that it was just episodic hijinks, and kinda lost interest
did you know the the final akagi arc went on in the manga for about 20 years
with consistent chapter releases
yeah
fucking wild
people who complain about the bog arc in kaiji clearly didn't peep akagi vs washizu
man
there's a part of me that feels like im forgetting a detective story that i liked but i can only think of mid stuff
ah
there was one manga
but it never got an anime
detective stories are interesting
about a guy with split personality
i dont remember the name
the anime man mentioned it in a video
nah
it was like
a university student
that one day wakes up and it's like 1 week later and all of a sudden he has a girlfriend that lives in his apartment and they had sex and a lot of people at his uni look up to him now but he remembers nothing of this
good binge plot
and it keeps getting crazier as he tries to uncover wtf happened
typa manga I'd read at midnight not getting sleep cuz you wanna get to the bottom of it
the artstyle was really realistic if that helps
reminds me of ajin
okay maybe ill read it
which one is that
ajin
Gwok
but i really didnt find most of it interesting
i saw a video about how the main villain abuses his powers like it's a game trying to cheat the system which i found interesting
i read like 20 chapters or so then gave up
HES JUST LIKE ME FR
story didnt do much for me
so basically
first volume or 2 feels like an escape plot and then second volume onwards the high rise invasion author dipped and the main author took over
the rest of the manga is like a call of duty hollywood supernatural flick
i stopped around the time the villain calls a bunch of aijins in the same building to go on a massacre
art becomes really good after the other author stopped collabing
but you prolly read past that point already
I wrote a 3 paragraph review upon finishing ajin holy shit
if you wanna read it I can plug it
bwahahahahaah
it's late for me , i was planning to watch a movie then fall asleep
but i can read it tomorrow
hf with it whenever
Ajin: Demi-Human feels like a Call of Duty campaign storyline for the way it handles the action (Sakurai's inspiration comes from FPS games), providing a lot of similar ideas of some sort. It also tends to flow the same structure as most mystery seinen usually follow to reach the very end goal- from what I have seen at least: meticulous build up in the beginning, perhaps the first arc or two, and as it progresses near the end goal it gradually builds up and intercepts hard. Regarding that in mind, I somehow felt indifferent during the first half of the series. It slowly develops the cast and story while whisking its mystery and action together to create a formidable read throughout, yet I still felt bored - I even thought it was surprisingly average. However, once Sakurai started going lone wolf onto the series, it slowly creeps to the second half and my thoughts completely shifted to provide some thoughts here. To say the least, it was still one hell of a ride.
For the most part, Ajin is full fledged in delivering forethought and thrilling action to the table. There were creative ideas embedded onto the series that adds just the extra spice into the enjoyment (moreso from the second half), but a lot of my attention brings to Satō . Beneath his cheerful presence lies an ominous sense of demeanor that deems his character as a true sociopath. His twisted ideology deriving off video games provides his boost and motivation to maintain his character and remain intelligent while badass at the same time. Many would consider him as one of the best antagonists in manga, and I can see the reasons. He is unhinged and hilariously insane. However, he carries almost all the weight into enjoyment when reading, which is arguably a downside because it yields inconsistent investment throughout the whole series.
The art in Ajin when Sakurai completely took over is nicely detailed and well fleshed out in many instances, may it be the spread panels or even the action sequences. Such details like this aids in enjoyment, because this is what I also heavily factor into reading this manga. Overall, I would say even if one like myself does not feel the compelling nature of the first half, the second half until completion makes the whole experience worth the read. It's a pretty good series.
i was trying to find a anime thats like tokyo ghoul
parasyte
apparently tokyo ghoul anime adaption is bad
ajin
manga kaneki is just better at this point
werent you reading the manga for tg
jagaaaan if you don't mind the crazy sexual humor
oh yeah and i stopped so suddenly
jagaaaan was really fun but after chapter 100 the author stopped caring about the art
which was a huge selling point into getting me to read in the first place
that's his fractured ability
it felt like it drastically changed course
there was that one superhero arc that i didnt care about at all
then it kinda went back to what it was doing originally but on a grander scale
blue lock author cooked
damn I should spoiler tag it, kinda violent
but yeah so much detail
tw gore
smh filter
and i thought mieruko san or pupa was even weirder shit
OH COME ON
I don't think jagaaan or blue lock are really good examples of the author's peak
it gotta be bokutachi ga yarimashita for me
love that manga so much
#1 probably
havent heard of that one
speaking of venom
i had no idea eddie brock was in inception
i had to pause the movie and think for like a good 3 mins where the fuck i recognized the actor from
it was really bothering me
first volume is an ice breaker sell, basically 4 students trying to live normal lives until it wasn't
thonk
wow the bot isn't even telling me what word triggered the censor
it's just done
lmao
also did yall ever like blue lock??
havent got around to it yet
i havent read any manga seriously in a good bit
just kinda been binging anime and movies and playing random games
blue lock is fun while it lasted
Lmao
it's on my manga to read list
with how good the art is i dont really want to watch the anime for that
and honestly the older i get the more i appreciate seeing the source material of stuff over adaptations
the only exceptions to that rule is when the source is like a gag manga that's just basic doodles or 4koma
adaptationcels seething over source materialchads
like ranking of kings or bocchi or one punch man
Are you guys hyped for opm 3
not really cuz i already read the manga and considering just how godly the art was i know the anime won't do it justice
like mfer murata delayed chapters multiple times cuz the art wasnt up to his standards and/or redrew the same chapter like 5 times to upgrade the art
and certain scenes were even in color
I haven't read it but I know what happens
Aren't there 2 versions
There's like a goofy bad art one and a godlike crazy one
yes the original one by ONE is just pure gag
but that's not really relevant
the anime is adapting the murata manga
which is an adaptation of the ONE webtoon
I enjoyed anime immensely tbh
then you should check out the manga because its even better
not really a manga reader
same with me, I only read like 50
and watched like 500
if it wasn't for the manga then satou wouldn't be one of my favourite antagonists
they build so much onto the action and there's a lot of clever planning into how they execute some of their big plans when taking him down, along with his own moments stealing the show
...I don't really get that in the anime and it changed a lot of things
I have read 20-30, and watched like 1000+ xD Maybe I just couldn't find a comfortable reader for PC
I just run up mangasee123/manga4life
the problem with manga for me is that it directly competes with reading books for me, and books win most of the time
there are some exceptions of course, but unfortunately the way manga is published makes it target rather short story arcs and short-story narration (e.g. Frieren which is a patchwork of short stories for the most part) which is often detrimental to complex plots
that's an interesting problem
so when it comes to manga you immediately lean to novels instead? if I'm not getting it right you should elaborate more
do you live in this server
bro is chronically online fr
😃
Why do I not remember the where you go I go song playing in jjk
Like it's always related to the snow scene
But like I don't remember music even playing during that scene😭
wait avatar has an official comic??
no, it means that when choosing a sedentiary leisure activity, I would prefer a book to a manga
would it be safe to assume that if anime is a 3rd option between the 2, you would prefer that over manga and books?
not really. Books are my main leisure activity for the most part, but they take more time. I can cram 1 anime episode where I can't cram anything else, so that is the deciding factor for watching anime
I think I get it
avatar is peak
Most of the comics happen after the original series actually
Do you know where I can read them?
I'd be very interested despite the funky fucking comic pages they posted on Twitter for the post above
Not sure where, personally i havent read them either
Several yeah
Depends what you prefer physical books or digital?
My go to is Amazon for both
I’d recommend picking up Gene Yang and Gurihiru’s graphic novel series starting with:
The Promise> The Search> The Rift> Smoke and Shadow> North and South
The Search is especially good
Lots of THE in there
i love how unhinged this is
wat
Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates of One Piece are the creations of Eiichiro Oda. One of the most prolific manga authors of all time. The porpose of this series is to highlight why I think the story of One Piece is as well received as it is through analysing and breaking down the narrative choices made. Kicking off this series is the leader of the...
Since we talked about luffy earlier
Totally not mark started a literary analysis on the strawhats
Hes done 3 members so far
Really good stuff
as a person who doesnt read or watch the series, for a sec there i thought you meant the literal strawhat
Juca going on a OP crisis
rooster teeths writing ig
yeah thats gonna be on my readlist
Anyone know this manhwa?
are you asking to find out or
omg I found it with google search lets goo
it's "The Princess Pretends to Be Crazy"
go back in time manhwa
they called their country Vladimar
dfjaklhgklahga
goddess of Hellar
omg i love thjese names
still exposition chapter but imma comment on it [spoiler] ||So the oracle went like "hurr durr the strongest bloke gonna save da king bruv innit" and everyone's first thought was to kill, like what the hell is up with that, do you mean to tell me that out of the 10 children no one bothered to think of real strength in different terms? like one of the bloke's sons went like "ur next babe points finger then kills" and everyone be like "yeahhh this is how shit's now innit". Imagine if the various descendants actually thought of strength in different terms, what if there was a conflict of interests and many ways to prove yourself worthy? they're royalty, one child could go on and become a merchant god while another would be a battle god while another would be a political god, showing strength in different fields instead of eliminating opposition, and I think that would've been so much more interesting as a story than whatever was described here in exposition 💀 but hey, maybe I'm wrong and they will actually do something interesting now that the mc has returned (she's a returner)||
ok nvm all my hopes and dreams were crushed in the next chapter
just for reference
anytime you see a random image and you want to find the source
google lens will almost always give you what youre looking for
and it takes 5 seconds to use
i see so many reddit posts asking where random manga panel is from
it feels like most people dont know google lens is a thing
Never works for me idk why
Always the same image but not the source
?
only for mobile, also website navigation on pc SUCKS
who designed this website on pc it's so bad
It's all like twitter or Imgur idk
literally just right click on an image and search
every scroll you have to wait before the animation finishes it's so annoying
animation?
the google lens website
i havent seen any animations
same thing, why does it have 2 names 😭
they integrated it into their search
because
reverse image search is functionally different
how so?
reverse image search only looks for exact matches iirc
lens tries to detect similarities and shows those too
you can see on the side it gave me different panels from the same series
huhh interesting
if you click find image source at the top that's reverse image search
ye it's just exact matches
on that note
can anyone help me find the source of this image?
google lens isn't returning anything
maybe cyz it's kiunda sketchy byt the linework is very different
also image feels old ngl
was moreso looking at anatomy
face structure looks very similar
you'd have to dig through their post history to be sure
im not aware of a way to fitler by site
oh you did it
Thanks lots
ye but how do you pair that with an image search
i remember it used to be that u could do it, at least on the phone
but idk now
ok so what you do is
right click > search iamge with google
and then u will be able to filter by websites
but this usually gives subpar/worse results than google lens or "find source"
also also
this character looks very similar to Mizunashi Akari from Aria
moreso the original drawing tho
that art style feels so 2008 tho I rly like it
afaik that option only works if you use chrome as a browser
i definitely dont have it
and it's just google lens kek
huh interesting
I just tried firefox and I can't even "open image in new tab"
functionality is totally different
out the box firefox doesnt offer a whole lot
but unlike chrome it is much more customizable
if you know what youre doing with it you can replicate more or less all functionalities and more
i wanted to get away from chromium based stuff
and firefox is like the only major browser that's not chromium
so
¯_(ツ)_/¯
ye
Have some cute @edgy bone
Omg cuteeee
I might read that soon
Now that unis started back up i have a reason to read manga more frequently
@next crescent pinging you too cuz cute must be shared
Yep yep
20th century boys is SUCH an overrated manga it is insane
do NOT expect "best villain in fiction" it is not allat
it is not a masterpiece either, expect 8/10 if you like more grounded stories with sprinkle of fiction
Umm okay
I am just really disappointed that I've never heard anything below "masterpiece! 10/10" before reading it and ended up having unreasonable expectations
need to yell at the wall a bit
or maybe because I just finished Usogui (10/10, but hard to get into) that 20th century boys seemed bleak and boring
I think the author as a whole is kinda overrated
I didnt like any of his stuff that much
I dont really get the appeal
At most its like 1 cool concept in a sea of whatever concepts
Also wait
Is it time for lore basement book club?
We is doing all
oh i thought you were into yaoi
As far as I'm aware this is only available on chrome
there's extensions for it
There are plenty of sites that give you easy access to multiple reverse image search engines at a time though
(and realistically speaking the overwhelming majority of the market uses chrome )
it's not a reverse image search
see the whole convo
Doesn’t mean I can’t share memes of it
But yeah
Yuri can be alright
But I love good yaoi
phoenix x edgeworth??
ofc
oh you watch gamegrumps
UM WHO FUCKING DOESNT
nah it's just a community meme
tho you could definitely argue the writers play into it
Just an itty bit. I was more into Prof Layton several years ago.
Esp the Mystery Room
Prof Layton is fucking awesome
i heard theyre gonna have a game of it on the switch
OMG LAYTON FAN
all the puzzles are good
i wasnt really into the last 2 games
katrielle puzzles just kinda sucked, you could tell they were made by a different puzzle master
some of them werent even puzzles they were just a joke and the answer was the punchline
smh
did yall like the story overall than the puzzles?
azran legacy puzzles were mostly touchscreen minigames where you move stuff around with the stylus which i also wasn't a big fan of
i like the logic puzzles the most
I mean I wouldn't say Google Lens is fundamentally different from Reverse image search. They both use a source image to find the same or similar images.
curious village was alright but a lot of the puzzles were just really well known logic problems so if you have any background in this field you probably already knew the solutions to a bunch of them
i appreciated them making up unique ones from the 2nd game onwards
what game has the logical puzzles??
basically all of them have some
im talking about the ones where it gives you a problem in text and you have to just input an answer after thinking about it for a while
like ugh
you live in a town that only has 2 barbers, and no one in town cuts their own hair. One of the barbers is very prim and proper while the other has really messy jumbly hair. Which one should you go to if you want to get a good haircut
or
you and your friend were playing tennis and the ball fell in a small hole in the garden. You don't want to damage the garden by digging it up, but luckily you have access to something else that's a very common thing 5 letters long that can get the ball out for you. What is it?
or
youre a scientist that's studying bacteria reproduction. You have access to a bacteria that duplicates itself once every day. If you put 1 of this this kinda of bacteria in a pietri dish it takes 60 days for it to fill out the whole dish. How many days does it take if you start out with 2 speciems of the bacteria in a dish of the same size?
erm, did juca visit one of those ads that say "Only 10% of adults can solve this problem?"

did you read the whole convo
not sure if it was regarding Layton puzzles or Google Lens, but I have read both discussions
smh
but yea
obviously there's more complex ones but i dont remember them off the top of my head
so theres really complex ones i see
also juca did you ever like the 2d pokemon games??
the sprite ones
back in the day yes
pokemon used to be like my main thing when i was a kid
for a very long time
my love for the franchise has died down a lot in the past 5 years or so tho
i don't really like any of the games anymore
should have played Pokemon Go
It gets really heated if your city/town has really dedicated players to form an opposition
if it had pokemon on it and it came out before 2018 or so i probably played it
oh ugh
nintendo as a whole
is basically nonexistent here
in the entire country
we had a pretty storng community since Ingress (previous niantic game) which made a core around which all the casuals gathered. So we had around 100+ dedicated players divided among the factions and a swarm of casuals, so it was a lot of fun
naruhodone
tbh, was one of the best experiences in gaming for me. I was hoping that VR would eventually turn out like this, but alas
give it time
nah, I am not a believer anymore
youre just afraid i'll kick your butt when we get sao
when we get sao I'll be a gramps, so it won't be much of an achievement to kick my ass
I will just hope that Dune is a good game so I can kick some asses there, because there isn't much going on in MMO scene
Genshin and Wuwa is kinda fun, but tbh I find MMO more appealing in the long run
I am sadge about the day when session-style and instance-style games were introduced into multiplayer genre
and speaking of nintendo
fuck this shit man
can we not get sao
why, don't you want to get a life-long trauma after surviving an anarchist simulator after the game community went rogue? Sounds fun
no thank you
i rather go into shield hero, mushoku tensei nor black summoner thanks
name a better isekai and ill suffice
hmm, I was thinking what would happen if there was a game like sao, available world wide and that governments can't shut down (servers are floating in the ocean, connection via p2p networks propagated through satellites). And access to it wasn't restricted
the whole logout button is stupid regardless
i imagine it would still have moderation
the whole anime was glazing kirito so much
also why would we even have a game like SAO?
because there's demand for it
and we live in a capitalist society
and vr tech is advancing
I meant with the real possibility of dying there and an the same intention as in SAO premise
but the access is nor restricted. Anyone can join any time
realistically speaking idk if that'd ever be possible
for userend hardware that has the capability of frying your brain to be sold out onto the public and pass all health and safety checks without no one noticing anything is
very farfetched
it would be, if we stretch a bit. Like we would need implants similar to what was in Deus Ex HR through which players can connect (and endanger their life since its the premise)
you are saying you seriously wouldnt enjoy a virtual full fledged mmorpg with anime aesthetics?
also this reminded me
I DONT WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN A GAME THAT FRIES MY BRAIN OUT
LIKE IF YOU DIE IN SAO, YOURE DONE
teru obviously that's not part of what we're talking about
YOURE JUST GONE
not me, but I suppose there are plenty of people who would have a use for such a game
if we're talking about stuff in sao that didnt make sense
i think the original premise said that the game sold like 600k copies
which is laughably bad for a game of that scale
the author didnt really have a frame of reference for game sales
so no dying stuff, i guess
id be surprised if juca and lime ever made a game like that
dying is the premise. Removing it would remove the point
I just think that such game would be a magnet for 2 certain types of people
then yeah no, im out
it makes sense if you have gradual roll-out (but story-wise, good sales was never the goal of the developer)
bruh please you can try
but I guess it can be fun
so 600k is good for emerging tech if it's Japan-exclusive, if the dev counts on revenue from promoting the tech and selling either hardware or engine later on a subscription basis
do you realise how much a game of that size would cost to develop
and it's a console launch title iirc
obviously the intention behind the development wouldn't be revenue from game sales
where else are you getting revenue from
it didnt have microtransactions (which in retrospect is probably the #1 least believable thing)
now this is confusing as hell...
as I said, selling the hardware to companies that are involved in more lucrative sectors (like military or marketing) and selling engine dev tools to those who would want to profit from this
well, if you want to sell hardware you need a product, so you sponsor a game or something
well you asked about 600k figure and I said why it would make sense. SAO plot is not so well-thought out to be actually discussing it
i dont see value in talking about this outside of the plot context
if you haven't noticed, the whole discussion was outside of the plot besides the premise itself
aincrad really did bad writing the first time
nah, it was decent for what it was
the whole point i was trying to make is that the author has really poor knowledge of video games
maybe. But I wouldn't say that 600k sales is bad for japanese market. JPN is known for overpricing their games and people still willing to buy them, if the game is hyped
So I could see an innovative game itself priced somewhere at 150-200 usd just for a copy
yeah, it was stated, in the first 2-3 episodes I think
in the beginnig they presented the game as it being the new biggest hit or w/e
600k for a game of that scale is a commercial failure not a big hit
id' have to pull out the book for the exact phrasing and i dont care enough
again, it's fine if it's a gradual roll-out. But then the game director went rogue
was it stated to be gradual roll out
and even if it was idk how you'd be able to accurately judge sales numbers in that scenario
you will be judging by the number of tweets obviously. Hype is the mother of sales
that's why half of the games lately is a meme clowntown
dude, I am just saying that 600k sales is a reasonable number for emerging tech, because it has multiple marketing strategies to capitalize on that. I don't say that SAO plot completely makes sense
we're not talking about tech
we're strictly talking about video game sales
i dont remember any statement being made about the nerv gear
The problem with the stories is that people assume that author didn't thought through all of this stuff. But reality is often that author actually thought through but didn't write anything down, because nobody would read that shit
when you start to explain something it's a vicious cycle when you need to explain more and more and you don't get to actually narrating the story. And if you can both explain and narrate, you are a god-level writer on a level of Brandon Sanderson, who is like one of a handful of writers who can actually pull off that sort of stuff
and that is why SciFi is a rare beast in manga, because it usually needs a decent amount of explaining
i dont see how that's relevant
fact of the matter is the explanation provided in the book doenst make sense
im not gonna sit here making up headcanons
which is usually the case for most of the stories and doesn't really showcase the ability of the author (or absence of it)
that's why fantasy is so popular, because "it just works"
bruh this isnt fantasy it's commentary on the irl video game market
the author tried to present it as the new big popular game that everyone is talking about
then gave out a number that's realistically too small for that to be the case
end of story
the year is 2009 when the novel released. Game market is not that big tbh, so 600k sales is a decent amount
https://www.engadget.com/2006-04-10-oblivion-records-record-sales-1-7-million-and-climbing.html 1.7 million world-wide sales in the first week and Oblivion was very hype at that time.
its world-wide compared to japan only
idk how much that affects things
? Japan has a market of 150 mil people (or a much lesser number if we assume access to hardware) compared to a market of billion+ people worldwide
no like
i dont have any data to show how much that'd skew the numbers
but maybe
the book might have also called it a commercial success but i dont remember at this point
"While VR is still in the niche category, Valve did make a splash in the gaming market with Half-Life: Alyx after selling more than 860,000+ copies of the game in the first week alone." and that was worldwide too
alyx was nowhere near the level of popularity sao was portrayed as
lmao what. It was the most hyped game in VR.
sure
are you claiming it was as hyped as sao was portrayed to be?
cuz i just dont agree with that
you underestimate the level of hype around Half Life franchise
i think you underestimate how big the author was trying to make sao look like
close to it. It wasn't an innovative tech, but it was a defining game for VR tech
plus again, VR market in 2020 is already magnitudes more than anything that could be concieved in Japan in 2009 (by an author)
idk like at this point
i can't really make any other meaningful arguments without pulling up the book and i dont care enough
i'll give yo ucredit for the japan only thing i didnt remember that part
what did the tiktok generation do to miku
i have no fucking clue
Rudy's mom cuz she the only one that stays faithful

How do you know she hasn't?
As much as I like a lot of the stuff this season I can't wait for it to end so MT can start again.
I need more Roxy screentime
Roxy the groomer

I mean tbh there are some people saying that she told a child (mc) to confess like 10 years later when he's all grown up, but you know
¯_(ツ)_/¯
any detective conan fans here??
does watching 200 episodes count?
i'd say it depends on why you stopped
got bored of waiting for the plot to go somewhere
they were teasing about it every couple episodes but then I figured, if I wait a few years I can just binge it all later
yeah so the reason I stop watching/reading long running series is so that they finish and I can binge, genuinely
no
by the time I started watching around 900 episodes were out
I tried watching/reading a lot of series weekly before but I ended up forgetting about them, or I just wait a year or two and then catch up in like 2 days and then wait another few years 😔
ye i gave up on weekly stuff too
theyre connected?
no problem i sometimes watch the dub or sub
but i love the dub though
:o
I havent seen that
youre a kid so it's probably for the best
I'm a bit behind on Rosen. I need to figure out when I talked about it last in here because that was the last time I read it.
Ill have to watch it to find out
It's a Manga. It's honestly not something I can recommend to anyone, even adults. It's just something that if you happen to stumble upon and like then you get to enjoy it.
also any digimon fans here??
Watched digimon adventures when I was a kid and then gave up after being lost in "where is and what is sequel"
Transformations didn't make sense but were so hype holy shit
maybe my mom 30 years ago
I’m rvb pilled but sucks
i kinda missed the boat on rvb
would you recommend it now
time to figure out where i stopped with rwby
huh ok im only 2 volumes behind
did the story end and i just never heard about it?
kinda surprised they only made 2 more volumes in the past 5 years or so
i like most of their songs
Not even close
i vibe with hard rock stuff
We were just entering the final arc
damn
They teased the first part of Vol 10 a while back and now I'm like actually sad that we'll never see it complete.
idk like
rwby was one of those things i kinda just had a soft spot for cuz it was the first big internet produced anime style story thingie
if i am to judge it based on what it actually tries to do i think the story has always been p meh, i'll see if the last 2 seasons change my opinion but i highly doubt it after 100 episodes
i really like the fight scenes choreography and the music, but since monty died the fights were never as good and now i heard that in the last season jeff williams left rwby too? so rip the music
Vols 7/8 were really good imo. Vol 9 was defininitely not everyone's cup of tea but I enjoyed it.
Vol 9's music is still has Casey on it though and is still really good.
casey was just the singer
jeff was the composer
i heard some of the songs and it's not the same vibe
you can tell a different person's writing them
I mean yea, that's how it works when someone else writes music. Vol 9's music is still really good though. Don't get me wrong I absolutely adore Jeff but the new guy aint bad.
Also I'm pretty sure he had helped Jeff on previous volumes so it's not a completely new thing.
i'll see when i get around to it
but if casey isnt screaming edgy lines about how shes gonna beat everybody up in my ears then it's not the same
Vol 9 has Red Like Roses Part III and it's honestly one of my favorite RWBY songs
ayo what
ayo juca my guy hows ygo going?
still trying to build a deck ive only done tutorials so far
lemme guess galaxy dragon whatever the fuck his name is
no idea what you mean
galaxy eyes dragon
mmm true, what deck you building
has anyone here watched yuri on ice? is it any good?
I watched it like 6 years ago. Don't remember much except that it wasn't bad. It was mildly good
Hmm, which anime to watch: Ousama Ranking, Synduality Noir, Metallic Rouge, Hikari no Ou? Listed in order of what I would like to see, but they are kinda similar in appeal
are you asking for yourself?
ousama ranking is amazing
one of the favorites ive seen since i started binging anime again
is 2nd season any good?
it doesnt have a 2nd season afaik?
erm...
its like a spin off or something
oh, this one is Short format https://myanimelist.net/anime/52657/Ousama_Ranking__Yuuki_no_Takarabako
nah, after s13 or s14 just don’t watch beyond that tbh
oh that was a series
i thought it was a movie
either way it's filler
i havent watched it
did it reach a conclusion storywise? I watched like 8 episodes and felt that it goes to something inconclusive... So I saw the stuff I sent earlier and thought they have finished it...
sort of
it finished the first big story arc
most threads are tied up but there's a few loose that lead into the next arc
which is manga only so far
it's kinda like the anime ending of hunter hunter if you wanna compare it to smth
Synduality: Noir please. I need someone to talk about that show with.
ehhh... welll... HxH was kinda a bummer, after the ant arc conclusion and the stuff with the world where his father went...
I couldn't get through the Ant arc
most people view it as a good cutoff point
but if you werent satisfied with that you might not be satisfied with where the ousama ranking anime ends either
you can try the manga ig but it's very very basic in terms of art and paneling
well, yeah. I dropped it halfway, then continued only to be disappointed in the end. But the HxH guildboss fight was awesome, I'll give it that
wit studio really has a gift for picking up series with mid art and cranking it up to 11
HxH was Wit?

Ousama is Wit
I thought they did through Season 3?
actually, one of the few mangas I have read while both manga and anime were ongoing. I remember it being rough, but not like something too bad. And tbh I wasn't too impressed with animation (not really something I pay attention to in anime)
Also wasn't AoT Season 1 kinda notorius for having some messed up art during the initial airing?
not that im aware?
and wit did everything before timeskip iirc
idk how many seasons it was i lost track
thats cursed
Anyone know a anime where they do something like this video?

nvm
oh this isnt what im looking for but rakugo helped
Even after having risen to the utmost rank of shin'uchi, Yotarou struggles to find his own identity in the world of rakugo. Caught between his master's teachings and the late Sukeroku's unique style, his performance lacks an important ingredient—ego. And while his popularity packs the theaters, he is but one of the few; rakugo is under threat of...
this one
I love this anime so much
yeah its my personal favourite anime drama
I wrote a paragraph review about it on my list but im on phone hold on
for both s1 and s2
would like it
just hover over to the speech bubbles of the show and you’ll see my reviews for each including s1 and s2 of rakugo
whats the shinigami play
the play tells a story about a shinigami who helps a man in debt
rakugo is basically a artform of japanese storytelling and one of the iconic stories is that one
this one’s an irl example https://youtu.be/P4PCds4tlT4?si=P9XikAJSPx-LlxHl
Part of my final project for my graduate course on Japanese performance culture. I translated and subtitled the entire performance of what I picked as a stellar example of a Rakugo performance. There are a few spots where I had to fake the translation, but I think the final product is very coherent regardless. I translated the performance with t...
read it ty, will watch it soon
Idk why you felt the need to explain rakugo when i talked about it multiple times
but gotcha
Ngl, I'd personally say S10 makes a fantastic stopping point
Highest production value (last one monty was involved in iirc), great story, and wraps up most of the major plot threads left open
Wouldnt even bother with S11 onward lol

Joshiraku's a good rakugo-themed anime. The ED is them reciting a name from a famous rakugo story
Jugemu (寿限無/じゅげむ) is a famous rakugo story, a form of Japanese spoken entertainment. It has a simple story, with the most humorous part being the repetition of a ridiculously long name. It is often used in training for rakugo entertainers.

Now we got two moms
manga artists do that for ages, no? Quickly build an interior in blender, and turn it into a background. I saw for years rendered school interiors in manga
I dont see it often
you probably didn't notice. This one is noticeable since the room is small
just look at school interiors next time you read, they are most often done this way
Okay
How noticeable it is depends on how much time they spend "drawing over" it, but it's pretty common 👀
(I also dont really read that many modern setting manga)
I mostly read fantasy shonen stuff
