You got shows like Re:Zero that are a rejection of the trope (MC thinks they're all that, gets beaten down for it)
Then there's shows like Fantasy Bishoujo play off the tropes of it by having a "straight man" point out when the MC is being an ass.
Or ones like Black Dungeon Company, which just uses the isekai format as a blatant excuse to make office culture jokes.

So the general isekai, I'd agree with this, but after it blew up, the inevitable "the joke is that it didn't play out like the tropes" ones have also taken off.
