and then the third stat of an essence is a name

Like yes, Genshin is a huge hit and has a ton of merch, all that stuff, but sometimes game adaptations don't hit like comic adaptations. Sometimes the timing is just off. It's hard to make lightning strike twice (also damn even the Demon Slayer comic was the biggest shonen jump comic ever at the time it was running, it was a generationally popular thing regardless of how any of us feel about it. )

I'm not saying the VNs weren't popular prior to Ufotable, but it's also very undeniable Ufotable had a pretty large impact on its success. Tales is like... before symphonia and vesperia no one rly knew about it. it was a niche of a niche. I'm not saying Ufotable has some magic touch fyi, this has rly nothing to do with them. this is just about the fact that Genshin occupies already a very large cultural space within both gaming and animanga spheres. and I think its hold over them is stronger than demon slayer, which you would not get shit of people playing whatever shit game it has out, but even if the genshin anime sucks, it would get way more retention than the bad demon slayer games.
