The biggest issue with AI people don't fully understand isn't just the idea of them taking jobs or stealing art. It's that AI is in a spot where open to the public, and not properly regulated, so it takes an insane amount of resources from our planet just to do small actions like generate story prompts or small "art" pieces.
If it would stay in a space of just being there for minor help, and was properly regulated to have less of a negative impact, then it wouldnt be bad. But it will never be properly regulated, and it will devolve into taking jobs and replacing humans in certain online spaces. Thats why its an issue
