That I can kind of get, since from the beginning we've always assumed snezhnaya would come right after natlan thanks to the travail video and the devs even stating that they wanted to slow down and focus more on story

But "filler" isn't always a bad thing either

It's helping to flesh things out

And it’s still silly to take it that way. The stigma around filler is that it’s typically just padding that adds little to meaningfully complement the main plot (esp when someone needs to play catchup).

Even though it wasn’t necessarily part of the initial plan, that’s the not the case at all with Nod Krai, even if we take into account that it’s a Snez region. A lot of these same folks would complain about Genshin adhering too much to its tropes and patterns, but the moment they say they’re gonna turn the wheel a bit differently is no different for them.

I could get it if folks were a bit sussy that they didn’t save Nod Krai for after mainland Snez before Khaenri’ah version, but atp it’s largely a matter of what exactly they’re gunning for in the story from NK to mainland Snez to Khaen that could put it into a different perspective.

Oh of course, I'm not arguing that it's important and that it's not traditional filler

I just meant that it's, in essence, "filler" because it wasn't originally planned to go this way from the roadmap they had given us at the beginning

It'll definitely be full of important lore and story content, no doubt about it, I just meant it's filler in that sense

But I don't agree with the sentiment that it's traditional/common filler where it serves little to no purpose and is just there to add to a runtime that'd be too short to show otherwise/save time for later parts that might need more manpower

TVTropes's "filler" definition:

1. It's literally advancing the main plot.
2. It looks like we're going to get a ton of advancement in our relation with our sibling, the Fatui, and a ton of other groups.
3. While it is giving them more time to work on Snezhnaya, that's not its only purpose, so even this doesn't apply.

Like, gone are the days of the region's issues being exclusively an issue for them- we've been going bigger and bigger and now we've finally been introduced to the idea that there's a new moon deity after the other moons have either died or disappeared and the shades who stopped it are now coming back into play in one way or another

We've been getting closer to cracking the firmament and bringing truth to the world for better or for worse

And the abyss order (and the abyss in general) finally making major moves in the game for us to see what's up with them and how they will stir everything up or if that was just another point in "fate"

Among many, many other things 😭

And if nod krai is expected to fill in some of the previous gaps left in old quests and worldbuilding, then it's only going to get bigger

When Bennett supposed return to mare jivari happened 500 years later he was supposed to die again and that's what fate had it for him but because traveler exist and them being a descender his fate was changed and he got saved

Think of it like how the whole Narzissenkreuz situation turned out where fate was changed when traveler arrived into the scene altering the end

Constellation are like a framework for the fate every person within the fate system has one

Bennett's constellation had a written fate of him dying that day (500 years ago) but he didn't because his parents gave up their life to summon Lord of the nights who got Bennett out of the mare jivari

But why did his constellation got stuck there? Because that day when Bennett got out of mare jivari was also the day when venti struck mare jivari out of the timeline which led to his constellation getting stuck in mare jivari

Now Mare jivari is also suffering from temporal disruption due to the presence of bakunawa which means it's appearing all over the timeline like it appeared 1k years ago...this is how wanderer's trupe from 1k years ago ventured into mare jivari

Similarly when Bennett got saved by Lord of the night and returned to main timeline(remember mare was cut off from main timeline by venti) it was during the present time and not 500 years ago

Now at present time Bennett returns to mare jivari and this time traveler is with him remember traveler is a descender which means they can change the course of fate by their influence which is exactly what happened Bennett got saved again when venti together with mavuika brought Bennett back with them

As for his bad luck it depends on how you see it I think Bennett being fated to die was not only saved twice but even when his fate keeps trying to kill him he still survives everyday...
