To contain the dog and make sure they don't damage the house while you're away, giving them a place where they can feel safe and calm down, if they ever need to be at a vet overnight they'll need to be in a crate/kennel and it's less stress on them if they find crates comforting instead of scary after a surgery, etc

My neighbors have to keep their dog in a crate because, if they don't do it while they're not home, he destroys everything in the house out of boredom

I have Baron crate trained for the most part so he has a place to calm down to go to sleep at night (because he usually needs to be made to calm down otherwise he'll keep trying to play), and so he doesn't pee in the house while I'm at work because, for the first several months of puppy hood, they can only hold it for a couple of hours at most

Although now he can hold it for like 3+ hours when I'm home so maybe, if he stops being a destructive little shit, he can stay out of the crate for the first 2 hours of my shifts
