remove essential, as it does have issues with corrupting worlds on heavily modded instances. Try e4mc instead, the hoster will just make a single player world, join it, use the open to lan/share world button from the esc menu, give the ip to their friend. The one joining will just go into the main menu, multiplayer, and should use the direct connect button.

It's not, it's a microserver, but it just reuses the lan button, it's just rewired to use their servers instead.
