(cross post of first couple updates)
day 1 highlights: you can still get 27 free steel ingots from the quest book so that's nice, means i take 2 enderman hits to kill instead of 1
quest book still gives a useless thermometer as well, not sure why that's still there as temperature config is set to always display temperature
bacon is still listed as a crop and acorns are in the questbook twice
tempad create recipe might actually make things easier? since the materials are accessible more easily via villager trades

Cursed hardcore update, day 12: I made a Create rotational power setup (just 4 water wheels) to be able to get air into a backtank. I used this to gingerly loot a couple monster rooms, with a Dense Skin skill page find in only the second one. The first monster room had a skeleton spawner, so I cleared out some space underground nearer to my base for a skeleton grinder. Next step is to carry the skeleton spawner over to my prepared area, and farm skeletons for experience (via sharp arrow pages) to max out dense skin. Stay tuned!

Finally, new update for today!
Current in-game day 38 (yeah i played a bit). I farmed skeletons for loot and experience, mostly got a ton of experience from sharp arrow pages, but also got a couple backpacks of loot, which included a gold ingot. I crafted a book of skills and maxed out all my levels, most importantly dense skin to get to full armor points. Then I farmed trees and wheat to get tree bark/wood and straw (respectively) which is sufficient material for bookshelves. I mined a bit to get diamonds and honed a tetra copper pickaxe past Mine Efficiency V to upgrade the mining tier, to mine obsidian. I made an enchanting setup, and with plenty of leftover experience I enchanted my armor to prot III-IV and pickaxe to fortune III.
Braver than before, I mined some more and located underground goblin traders when they spawned in nearby caves. Their trades for copper/iron/gold are very efficient to get ingots without any ore-processing infrastructure (double copper/iron, x1.5 gold) so that let me get healthy amounts of those resources with minimal mining. Goblin traders can also be captured and stored in cages, which makes them extra convenient!
Using my new materials, I made some Create machines: a millstone, mechanical press, mixer, saw, and fan. I use clutches to toggle power easily, so I don't need much power total to have them all available.
PHEW those are the main points. Future updates will be more frequent, in this thread, and smaller.

End of day 38: killed some squids and farmed some tomato to make probably the easiest substantial food in the game: Squid Ink Pasta. All you need is to kill squid, and farm tomato + wheat! Easy, and you get plenty of extra ink sacs too which are important for hyperenchanting later

New run! With my partner :)
So far, 2 in-game days. We gathered some wood & dirt, made steel armor (from questbook steel), and found a little copper and flint. We're holing up in a little shelter in a beach dune by a jungle, just need a few stacks of logs and we'll be good to stay underground for a while.

(they also have the cursed ring equipped)

In-game day 9, yay! After gathering plenty of wood, we mined a shaft to y=0, made a box for a future skeleton grinder, made a farm area for crops, and built a basic Create setup for backtanks.
Also messed with tetra tools to make fast-leveling copper ones.
