do you have a valid explanation of why it would be good in the pack besides you wanting to play w it
I think as a modpack that has great potential to be a multiplayer experience with great cooperative interactions between friends in general. A mod like lootr would go a long way in minimizing some resources scarcity that larger groups of people that play this modpack would feel. I’ve experienced this in other modpacks when you have many people. Having all the chests looted forces others to have to go much further to find loot for them to get started. This kills the idealogy of exploration to some extent because then you’re not looking for new chests ur stuck looking for chests that arent already looted inherently wasting your time when you could be looting chests that actually have stuff in them.
So in all 2 main reasons:
- Resolving the issue of multiplayer resource scarcity
- Maintaining the sense of progression with persistently lootable chest so players are valued their exploration time at a greater scale.
It also comes with the issues of worlds not being able to pregenned with Lootr, and also dungeons and structures that have already been explored previously are more or less just free loot with lootr chests
I fail to see how dungeons that have already been explored being “free loot” if its a single player experience it makes no difference. If i go and explore a dungeon with my friend id say its earned that we both get chests especially if there is also some form of mob scaling implemented when there are more players.
We have to consider that if the loot for one chest is meant for 1 person and the server has 7 people
it creates needless resource scarcity especially if the players are playing cooperatively going and conquering and exploring structures and dungeons
it is an issue in public servers especially
I understand if there are technical limitations but most other modpacks that are can be server played have lootr or something similar
not for private ones
I have a group 17 people that play on rotation
okay now imagine 9 people go into the dungeon, clear it out fairly; then the next batch of people come in and just loots the free lootr chestsz
thats perfectly fine imo cause if its one chest ur effectively sharing between 9 people
Verses everyone getting equal resources
so its fair for the people who did not clear the dungeon to come in and take the loot from lootr chests
i don't think people especially on public severs would feel the same
i think the sharing between 9 peoples pain far out weighs the value of having to explore more of the map by every one
i dont disagree with that unfairness
at the end of the day were here to have fun
how is one meant to track which ones are taken
I dont disagree, but thats just how it is. You can add it on your end if you’d prefer to play with it
Or discovered
obstacles removed, like spawners or traps
or missing blocks
yeah for sure but thats once one goes in there
yeah
Isnt that also a waste of time
How is that fair
im not arguing fairness btw
Im just wondering why its even a question of “balance”
its just a question of convenience
there are other mods that help with that https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/respawning-structures-forge-fabric
Is that in the modpack
Like I said, you can have it. But its just not something that I want in the modpack, for the reasons I stated
no
My thing is because thete are so many people i have my priv setup with when things do get updated its quite tedious
its server-sided, server owners can add it
for EVERYONE to have to do this
going in manually and all that instead of just clicking update
Thank you for this
Im also surprised how hard you guys are fighting this when most if not all big modpacks have this
some launchers keep your client-sided mods when updating, and your just adding in one mod when your updating the server. Its just the cost of wanting to modify your modpack
I also think modpack creators can learn by example of bigger packs and see how it helps the players who also want to have a fun equitable experience
I do agree with you though ive done that before
but its still tedious per person
Just because other modpacks have it, does not mean we do.
yeah i know thats why i said learning by example could be a useful
unless you disagree with that thought process
We have it in some of our modpacks here as well
so just because another modpack has it, means SteamPunk should has it?
Wouldnt every modpack be the exact same if we went by that logic
It was originally in SteamPunk during 1.19, it was removed for a reason.
i think it integral like claims
wow
but your also forgetting JEI is client sided
am i wrong which big modpacks does nor have some form item scroller
thanks for your suggestion
Im going to use the 1.19 version
I certainly do not have Emi or jei in my modpack.
they left alr bff
