Hi all! I was very excited for Tom's Simple Storage, it seems to have all the features that i've been wanting for my preferred storage method. But upon actually trying to use it, it's buggy, has absolutely no wiki and very minimal instructions, most youtube videos are old and the mod has changed a lot, or they dont go into having an item sorting and storage system which is the main thing I wanted to do with this mod, and above all, is not simple. The biggest issues I've had so far is that the polymorphic item filter doesn't seem to function at all, and the storage terminal is buggy-showing items that aren't in the storage network at all. Anyone have success with this mod? I know that theoretically, you could just pile all your chests next to each other and access everything from the storage terminal, but for one this is a bit too easy for me as I'd like to retain some aspect of a vanilla sorting system. Also if anything went wrong, having thousands of items in random chests would be an absolute nightmare. Plus, a dream storage system is an orgainized one. Hopefully I can get some help here as I've scoured the internet with no luck. Thanks everyone!

Toms simple storage two doesnt have infinite range like some of the blocks do. Its a lie. Because toms simple storage relies on a block that will "stop working" out of chunk render. There was a way to get it to somewhat work through configs but cross dimension will not work due to minecraft being minecraft
i hadnt heard of that mod but i looked it up. It does look cool but would be super out of place in my medieval fantasy world. It also looks pretty complicated, probably way more enjoyable for people who are really into all aspects of the mod and not just trying to sort items like i am. Thanks for the suggestion though!
it is not complicated, it makes it look complicated but it genuinely isnt, there is a texturepack to make it look similar to create
would this be better for you ?
Hmm yes i do assume a chunk loader would make that aspect of the mod work as long as it isn’t bugged as well. I hadn’t even got to the point to try out the wireless connection, i was just starting with trying to sort items and never got it to work
would make this look a bit more magic-ish than what it is now, also ae2 has a chunkloading block so you can access your stuff from everywhere, not in the mod itself
you need ae2 wireless terminals for it thats pretty much it
also you can make a chunkloader without downloading a mod if you don’t want to do it that way. not sure how to do it but plenty of tutorials on it, it uses an ender pearl
also, you can see if you can use sophisticated storage, this mod isnt all that safe though as chests arent meant to be that big
yes, but toms is super finnicky with what needs to be loaded to work
damn. see i thought surely this mod with 18 mil downloads actually ya know…works? I got pretty bitter over the whole thing thinking maybe i was doing wrong. But so far i haven’t found anyone who doesn’t have significant issues with it.
that texture pack is definitely better. All the videos i watched seemed to use create stuff to power it. How would you power it without create? I like create but is isn’t out for fabric 1.21.1
dont know if you played prominence but toms simple storage has a history of items going missing, duping or your world getting insanely laggy due to the fact it is just badly made, thus it was removed
oh thats not problem, me and a friend are playing a low tech pack aswell and we just use ae2 power
would be great if you added powah but i dont know if thats too intrusive for the pack, as that one is a full on power tech mod and i dont know of any retextures
Ah gotcha. unfortunately ae2 isn’t out for fabric yet either but i’m sure it will get updated soon. In the meantime i’ll look for something that fits the world vibe a bit better but i don’t have much hope for that
