sorry for the late response. When you respawn theres the buff that cold sweat gives you. It prevents you from the effects of temperature. Keep in mind you will immediatally take the full effect of it when it wears off

From what I can tell, the hearth is an "Expanding" thing. It doesn't expand around objects, it doesn't expand up-around-to-down if it isn't in direct line of sight to the block, or down-around-to-up. But it can expand around walls and curve left to right - However- ... even if there's clearly a hole visible for left-to-right curves or up-to-down curves, it only allows for the hearth to pass through and give insulation to another room with a 1 block hole if it's directly within its invisible "Expansion bubble". If it's not in its invisible "expansion" - it needs to be 2 blocks wide to let in the hearth's insulation around edges/corners/vents.

But what's even more weird is that this configuration does insulate the room with lava, but doesn't insulate the block I'm standing on. The entirety of the room to the right is safe from heat/ice, but this block I'm on - I'm cooking to the lava, and if I remove the lava, I freeze due to the snow outside.

Welp. It seems my vents will be copycat Bytes. It seems the temperature bubble starts at the base of the block (so the hearth block itself) and doesn't care for the chute - I stand corrected, it comes out from the chute's top itself... which doesn't help my conclusions

Gotta be on the same level as every other room per floor, and I'll just chop off a tiny edge as makeshift "vent" holes

(Reason why its gotta be copycat bytes is because of the blocks used in the building don't have stair/slab/etc variants)
