my online server randomly stopped working. I still can connect to the server, but my friends are all unable to join. how can I troubleshoot or find what's causing this?

Double check your external IP. I bet if your router rebooted, you've been assigned a new external IP address. You can just do a google search for Whats my IP, and it should tell you in the results.
if that hasn't changed, it sounds like port forwarding was reset
This used to happen on my server from time to time with Comcast. Unless you pay for a static IP, it can change at any time

Hey, this modpack isn’t loading, upon launch, before a window appears it crashes with Exit Code 0 and the last thing in the log is the Harvest Scythes mod
I tried removing it and it just crashed earlier… so that was interesting.

Those errors look very similar to the errors I was getting after manually updating each mod.
Ignore that, I'm getting the same errors in my logs and it loads fine
Comparing your log file to my log file, it seems like yours stops and crashes just before this line:

but I have a couple of extra mods that I added to mine that you don't have so I'm not sure if that LWJGL library is related to one of those or to this modpack
How much ram is allocated?
That latest.log just seems like a random cut off, not actually caused by anything specific at the end
can you check your crash-reports folder and see if there is a crash report there and post that?
Not sure if it'll help or not, but if it crashed maybe there will be something in there that someone can recognize

i was having some major performance issues on my bisect server with Better MC Fabric...
so I was watching the console while playing, once I figured out that it starts the server with no java arguments and I had to enable Aikars recommended arguments, I haven't had any other issues with performance
That was definitely my issue with the large log files
Killing Overwolf stopped all of those lines

Yeah, I'd disable the overlay on any pc/laptop that has overwolf
And clear all those old logs that take up a bunch of space
and the other 3 or 4 people that I've told to use Curseforge because it's easier to manage Better MC.
Yeah, I only use it because I've already disabled their overlay the first time I started using Curseforge, I always do that, overlays tend to cause issues with games

Open overwolf itself. go into their settings, first option should be overlay and hotkeys, check to see if any of the switches are on

And removing overwolf/curseforge
as soon as I right click / exit overwolf the errors stop, even though overlays are off

6GB of ram are allocated. For reference, Better Minecraft Forge 1.16 launched just fine. (And ran quite well)

I am. I was getting no crash reports by launching the game with all the mods, so I removed all the mods and added them back in groups of 5. Haven’t finished, but that was the first time I got an actual error message instead of a random stop in loading.

And yeah, that was the error GDLauncher gave me because I wasn’t able to get a crash report at all from the native launcher
The elytra trinket mod doesn't work
I can't equip an elytra in my Chest/cape slot and the item also doesn't have the "#trinkets:chest/cape" trade or tag in game

Either update it manually in v6 or update to V7 which will update all the mods with it

If you mean weapon reach, some of them have increased or decreased range specified on their description, I'm gonna take a guess and say that daggers should have decreased range while glaives, spears and maybe greatswords should have it increased

I would suggest playing on the latest 1.18.1 version anyways, 1.17.1 is a dead version now so any bugs and such won't be fixed on there

Or insulated your regular armor with polar bear pelt?
Note that there are two wolf armors, one from the Environmentz mode and the other from uhhh MC Dungeons I think, obviously craft the first one
so basically what you need to do is get a wand with amethyst and some other basic stuff, amethyst is the "hard" one to get, craft the wand and basically spam spells in order to gain EXP and the wand will upgrade to a regular one without the mana penalty at around 2400 EXP and then will turn into a Master Wand at 6400 EXP, at which you will have a -50% mana cost instead of the +50% of the initial one
And fun fact, if you use solar strike on animals or fish they drop their meat already cooked 😄
is there a specific way the armor has to be crafted?
I haven't done it basically because I've spent weeks looking for a polar bear and so far I've found none, but in theory you need to grab any armor (or so I found online) and place it on the Smithing Table alongside the polar bear's fur, and that should be all
What someone in this server recommended me and ended up being a nice idea is to spend your winters on the Nether, since climate effects don't apply there

Hi, I need assistance with the modpack (v24.5 hf for 1.17.1), basically I beat the dragon, planned to go back and beat it again. For some reason, The End reset, no dragon, no dragon portal, no portal to explore the end either.
Tried resetting DIM1 as per online instructions but result is the same, any suggestions?
P.S for some reason my nether also reset, but it is less concerning since it doesn't seem to be gamebreaking

All you need to do is find the level.dat file of that world
will try that, after I resummon the dragon with end crystals. Maybe it will work after a more 'legitimate' summoning

okay, I think I found a solution that's more viable for less tech-savvy peeps like me
When the End reset itself with no ender dragon or end portal;
- Re-create the world that has issue
- Copy the DIM1 folder from the 'duplicate' world
- Place the DIM1 file into your own world
- Make sure to have 4 End Crystal ready
- Go to the End Portal in your world
- Defeat the Dragon
- Summon it again with End Crystal, defeat it again
- The portal should work after killing it the second time
And yeah, hopefully no long term issue, its gonna suck

FTB quests is not on 1.18 yet nor is it on fabric, so yeah, no quests

i'm just trying to get to the root cause of this
So, my test server and fresh install of my v8 client just worked. I connected just fine, if you can, please try reinstalling both. Save your world first so you don't lose it and then reupload it or place it back into the server folder after the fresh install. Same goes for the client if there's a world on there you wish to save
I've done several new installs today, from scratch. Reinstalled the server side and client with v8, for me I can connect initially, but after I leave or restart the server to apply a config change I get the connection error 😅 did you try wait a little leave and join back? maybe even after a server restart?

server was running whole time, ppl could connect and reconnect without problems
we seem to get it pretty quickly after just having started
then out of a sudden they couldn't
Yeah, since it's the same error, if one of you can make a github issue and then the other tag along on that same issue, it would be great
For now, I'd suggest using v7 instead of v8. For the GitHub, post both server and client log and explain how long it took to get the error. After you do that, feel free to revert the server back to v7

No, but it was nonstop errors

yeah, I also updated from V7 to V8 and used the same map, and those errors kept coming up. The server performance was worse
the console was being spammed by those error messages. Thats why we generated a new world, so no chunk corruptions would occur

I was getting the registry error. I disable Better Animals since that was one of the new mods with V8, and now I'm not getting the register error
neither are the few other players on the server. Not sure if it is related, or if it was because I restarted the server

I also read somewhere that last year Better Animals was causing that structure error that we were getting
after server restart it also works for us
but if you connect -> disconnect -> reconnect the registry error happens
disconnecting and reconnecting still works
even connected, ran a chunk or so away from my load in spot, disconnected, reconnected, no error
I will try removing the Better Animals Plus mod

So i removed the Better Animals Plus mod from server side and left it in client side, and now the registry error doesn't occur for us
But the console is constantly outputting 'Skipping Entity with id betteranimalsplus:x'

this might be a ocean floor collapse or something. as your TPS is still mostly around 20. just a couple of those ticks were particularly nasty (hence why i suspect an ocean floor collapse) as it shoved mobs about

unfortunately it might be a bit hard to nail it down. but if the spikes are still happening you need to find the problematic mobs that are currently being shoved about in the water. if youre the only one on the world it will be in the radius around you so not toooo hard to find hopefully
Has anyone else had problems with blocking melee attacks in this modpack? Friend and I are having trouble with mobs melee attacking us and shields being completely useless even though out timing seems to be pretty good.
We tried removing the medieval weapons mod seems to make shielding work for melee attacks. Can anyone else confirm?

This only applies to vanilla bows and crossbows however, so keep that in mind. This goes for just about every origin

Can you see if this occurs on a new world as I cant reproduce it on a new world with v8 or v8.5. I would just recommend staying on v7 as it seems to be an issue with old worlds. Also just a question did you change any keybindings?
I changed no keybindings and after it occurs once for anybody all other players also get the error on reconnecting. The world is freshly created on v8. First v8.5 seemed to have fixed it, but after 1.5hrs it came up again and can only be fixed by restarting the server.

Yeah the log doesn't say anything much expect that something Is not registering. The only thing I can go off now was it said something like Wandering trader config trying to sync.

The Magic Fungi weapons and tools are great. For armor the Metallurgy or what ever its called Is the best. But I would personally go with the dragon loot set because you can combine the Elytra with the chestplate!

@uncut monolith The Inventory Connecter connect to 16 blocks in all directions. If you wish to Addon you will need another Inventory connector and use the cable and inventory proxy along with inventory connector pipe to connect a seperate inventory

theres a mod for fabric called chunky pregenerator by pop4959, the video from !pregen is for forge only.
i used that mod to pregen the world and havent had any issues.

The only way would be to connect it by cable. But there is not salve and master. It all becomes unified, The only thing you could do is filter what goes into what chest for connector.

Check your install, verify modpack versions are the same.
There's a v8.5 too, so make sure client and server are indeed equal and not one on v8 and one on 8.5

hey, so we updated our server to v8 yesterday and i havent been able to get past the launcher. i know one of my friends had this same issue but he just restarted his computer and it helped, but ive tried restarting, reinstalling the mod, repairing it, and reinstalling minecraft so im kinda at a loss on what to do now
im able to open the game without mods but cant open through medieval mc

i never got an error, i was opening the launcher through curse forge
but i ended up trying to download another profile on curse forge and was able to open it after doing that, idk what the problem was in the first place but it seems to have fixed itself

an update with v8 server im running: i removed both shulker mods and the wandering collector mod and I still get the issue from minecraft:click after a couple of hours. it pretty consistently happens.

Hiya, whats the funnest origin? I'm more keen to ones with night vision as I find darkness in minecraft miserable. I've tried dwarf, and although it's probably my favorite playstyle in vanilla, I found it quite annoying when there's a beautiful modded world to explore. Any suggestions?

as long as the patch notes dont shout at you in caps to make a new world, then generally the backup and update process will steer you fine

I'm relatively new to the world of Minecraft mods and so far I've been having a great time playing the various versions of Medieval minecraft, my current fav is Fabric 1.18.1 but a close second is Forge 1.16.
That said, I have no idea what the various mods do and add. Is there a forum or wiki that people go to for the various mods to find out how to do things? The CurseForge website isn't super useful.
THe kinds of things that I'm looking at are how to use the specific spells found in enchantment books (Like Magic Missle et) and how to tame the mounts from Mythic Mounts.

there is no wiki but its always good to look up the mod you find in game interesting, for example bosses of mass destruction, if oyu want to fight cool bosses look up the mod etc

Most likely you updated from the version that had the Realistic Fire Spread mod to a version that doesn't have it anymore

Right click on the modpack in my modpacks screen, click on change version, set the version to what you want, make sure 'update to new profile' stays unchecked, click continue. Make sure to backup the saves folder first before loading the world on the new version, that way you have a safe one to use on the old version in case something goes wrong
Right clic on medieval minecraft (fabric) only show this, unlike the other modpack like Better minecraft plus edition
In that case, save your saves folder to somewhere safe, just drag it to the desktop or something
Delete that version, download once more
it'll be the latest
and place the saves folder inside the new profile

I get the feeling it's unrelated as it is a wandering trader, most likely near where the player that joined was. Please do include that log tho in the issue report just in case there's something I'm missing on it
So here, let me reorganize that. Start the server up, run /kill @e[type=minecraft:wandering_trader] in the console, then try joining. (no idea if this will do anything, I've never really messed with servers)

Btw, that trick I told you of works for any ticking entity that's a mob, still though if you get one, still ask about it and send the report as it could lead us to what mod is causing ticking entity crashes

just wanted to give a final update on the minecraft:click issue for my v8 server. I have successfully upgraded to v9 overnight and haven't had any users hit the minecraft:click issue since. huge thanks to @ivory kernel and anyone else involved for jumping on that quickly and getting it fixed. really appreciate how awesome yall are here!
so I just updated my mc server and after logging in it crashes the server shortly after. Crash report was something to do with wandering trader so I ran the kill command as I was logging in and it's fixed the issue for now.

Hi everyone, since update 9 i noticed what might be a bug ! Every so often the server crashes due to a wandering_trader. The server is going to keep crashing until i manually remove the trader from the save file.

Removing that mod should work, if not, just do the same killing off the trader in case they're just always a ticking entity even after the mod removal
Found the source of the wandering trader crash.
RPGstats has a conflict with MC Dungeons Armors. When a wandering trader drinks the invis potion, the game gets a ticking entity crash.
To fix, remove one of them, whichever you deem to be the least worth having

RPGStats supposedly thinks the issue is fixed, but their latest release with the 'fix' (4.3.3) is what medieval minecraft is using in v9 already. Might need to let them know their fix didn't work: https://github.com/P03W/RPGStats/issues/88

Start the server up, run /kill @e[type=minecraft:wandering_trader] in the console, then try joining. If that fails, remove either RPGStats or MC Dungeons Armor. They have a conflict atm

Rightio, I think it may still be related to RPGStats and MC Dungeons Armor which has a conflict on RPGStats' side. For now, don't drink any potions, I'm going to confirm that it involves MCDA still
Overall, it seems RPGStats made their mixin have some issues when it comes to potions and MCDA
So yeah, it's still the two mods mentioned above, so the fix to stop that is either remove RPGStats or MC Dungeons Armor (mcda file name)
If on a server, it'll have to do be done on both server and client

Personally I don't really use modded armor, so I'd probs remove MCDA, that way I can have the RPG stats and all the boosts that come with it

But how do you make leather from hide
Take a piece of hide and three sugars. It makes purified hide.
Then make a wood rack and put that on the wall. Hang the purified hide on the wood rack and later that day it will turn into leather.
It's a game changer for sure. 🙂

Update to 9.5 is the best bet atm.
It's not letting me attack anything other than grass/tree/dirt blocks etc. No live creatures
No animal - no zombies
