Is there a reason the server.properties that comes included in the server pack zip has level-type=default? If you delete server.properties so that it regenerates on server launch, the newly generated file has level-type=bclib\:normal. I would guess that's more in line with what happens in single player world creation where World Type: BetterX is set.

Not really. You have to adjust it yourself. Simply increasing the max possible won't necessarily increase the levels of things you encounter unless you also adjust how time and distance apply.

Anything works as long as u have bag of souls u can get them from villagers and normal enchanting gold works best but if ur with a team i recommend villagers but if u already fmhave a bag of souls set ig just use an xp obelisk if u are playing with friends so u can share xp

But u can start by finding a skeleton / zombie spawner and just use it for basic xp until u get into conjuring which can create the best spawners bc it can make a spawner of any mob

i made an XP farm with the vindicator spawner on the ships. then enchanted full armour with "bag of souls III" and put "Souls Devourer III" on the sword. go from nothing to 30+xp after waiting 5-10 mins for the dropper to get full of vindicators. they also drop emeralds and relics so also recommend putting looting III on the sword. its extremeeee

Straw is pretty OP early game too. It's meant to be like a bit of a shortcut for some survival things. Yu can make leads with 5 ropes that you can craft from straw/canvas. Vanilla lead requires a slimeball so it's a bit easier to obtain and make.

Ropes are super nice. Just reverse scaffolding. Alternative to water bucketing down large heights.

Also can craft a safety net which is a block that full absorbs your fall in case you eff up. Also the tatami blocks you can make are nice if you're into that sort of thing :D

Knives also have a backstabbing enchant but I dunno how it stacks up against the other end game weapons. I think level 3 has 2.2x damage from behind and stacks with other things

Knives are scavenging tools that boost what you can obtain from flora and fauna
Any animals you slay using a Knife are guaranteed to drop secondary items, such as Leather and Feathers
Grassy plants (grass, wheat, rice etc) cut with a Knife will occasionally yield Straw, a firm and useful fiber
Later on, they are also useful for cutting and portioning ingredients when preparing meals
Knives are effective against Cakes/Pies, Wool Blocks, Cobwebs, Straw-based blocks

using knife on wheat gives you quite a bit so you should be able to harvest up enough straw for all your useful things (ropes) pretty quickly, then turn back on 'swing through grass' if you like that mechanic for better combat

Ideally, here's how it should work. You grab a regular player armor with magic prot IV, you use biome makeover altar with the illuvite shards to make armor have magic prot V and then a curse, next you take the enchants off and apply to a wolf armor to be rid of the curse, then you apply the magic prot V enchant back to the original armor, then you repeat

Yeah, it's more complicated. This is why it takes around 1300 levels if doing efficiently. If not, it could take around 1600 or so.

Well, you can try not using boots. However, doing it efficiently, should take having 55 levels to remove magic prot each time iirc. Won't consume all levels but will still force you to have 55 levels each time you take off magic prot and a curse I believe.

It is known. It's mostly farmer's delight stuff. Basically, the food would have to be tagged appropriately for the other mod. That requires cooperation between mod devs and mod devs can't possibly be expected to be omniscient about every mod out there.

I mean, doubles attack speed. On its own it is not that busted. Mods can't really be held accountable for other mods that exist though because there's so many and such. So yeah, if you decide to use it along with all the other good stuff then you are basically deciding to become a busted godlike entity. I prefer self-discipline and finding the balance on when I use certain items and what I use and how far I go with items, gear, levels, etc. I think that is something that is worth a try.

Hello, I have been playing Medieval Minecraft 1.19 (fabric) with some friends on our server for two days.
but i have to say that i'm missing some content... in youtube videos you can see bosses dragons and other big monsters in our game there is no trace of it. We were on a four hour adventure yesterday and in those four hours we didn't find anything that impressed us. The dungeons we found were always relatively small and had no loot worth mentioning. Can anyone here recommend a different version?

The mod RPG Difficulty determines the levels. It has a config file you can adjust, but the means of adjusting it aren’t terribly intuitive. I suggest you make yourself a quick creative single player test world and play with those settings. For single player, you can adjust the settings in the in-game mod menu options. Then once you have learned how the settings work, you can copy those to the config file on your server. I’ve set mine to not level enemies up based on time at all. But instead based on distance from spawn. Enemies near spawn are Lv.1. Enemies at my world border are Lv.580.

Forge has been around a lot longer, so there are more mods for it. Particularly older mods. But load times take noticeably longer. Usually 2-4 times as long. Fabric is the (relatively) new hotness. Nah it works. Like I said it's just not very easy/intuitive to adjust to your liking. If you /tp yourself out to 5,000 blocks and set "Max Health Factor" to 20 and spawn a zombie, it will still be Lv.31. But if you then /tp out to 10,000 blocks, spawn a zombie, it will be Lv.57. So you can see that "Max Health Factor" did something, but only if you go far enough out (or wait for long enough time, which isn't as easy to test). What happens if you raise the "Max Health Factor" to 40? Spawn a zombie, still Lv.57. So once again we are distance (or time) capped. So instead of changing max, let's change how much impact distance actually has on that level. Turn "Increasing Distance" down to 1 and "Distance Factor" up to 1. Spawn a zombie. Lv.586 now.

So you have to play around with not only what the max lvl is (seemingly determined only by the health, not damage or other stats), but also how much impact time or distance actually has on that level.

No problem! I just included some pics to show what you'll want to play around with. Some combination of decreasing some values while increasing others. That's what affects the level. Of course you might want to adjust some of the other values as well like damage, speed, loot, XP, etc. Though that doesn't have a direct impact on the level number, it will obviously change the gameplay for your players.

Inventory Profiles Next is a really good mod with some really strange default settings. But they can all be changed. I think the mod should be added back but shipped with modified configs so people aren’t always confused about things.

Its 2 most valuable features are inventory sorting and slot locking. Disable all the rest. People who are curious can enable anything that interests them but for 90% of everybody else it will just sort their inventories as expected in most modpacks.

There is of course SlotLock and Inventory Sorter. 2 mods that just do those very things. But the problem with those is, because they are 2 separate mods, they don’t respect each other. The auto sorting will ignore the locked slots. No good.

It's been stated many times that a guide for the modpack would be impossible to maintain due to the constant updates and the 300 mods. And I can see why tbh, writing my tier list was hard enough. Like, when people have irl jobs plus be a dev for modpacks plus all the other adulting in life, yeah there's no way a guide can be maintained that way.

Would be cool if the quest book could auto populate with quests based on the achievement screens of mods. Many mods have pretty thought-out achievement progression, effectively a guide at times. Then the modpack developer would only need to slap some loot tables on the quest chapters for rewards.

That way quest design is largely handled by individual mod devs. With the option for modpack devs to go more in depth if they feel like it.

My server starts pinging excessively when there’s a lot of mobs I.e. blood moons, dungeons, large villages etc. i allowcated more ram bringing it from 4 to 6 and eventually to 7GB but players on my server still experience lag and crash eventually

  1. Should they allocate more ram on there end or is this a server issue

  2. Can I config to lower mob spawn by a slight margin and make it so mobs only spawn in higher quantities close to the player but not as often or at all farther off

  3. Or is this a network issue and the reason for the lag is because of my wifi being pingy

as a heads up to anyone who cares. On the server with my friends, we changed the settings in the dehydration mod config because it was making the nether unplayable. draining all the water in 3 minutes with no way to slow it down in game through gear, potions, etc... It wasn't any fun. I don't know if the modpack author reads these but if they do I wanted them to be aware that the current config for dehydration kinds ruined the game for us for a couple days

Most know about the dehydration and if they follow the tips that have been given many times in this discord then they are fine. You carry purified water in backpack, have multiple diamond leather flasks, you use waystones (yes they can be crafted) to teleport back and forth, don't wear armor if possible, but you can use overheating potions to help with temp. Nether is not unplayable, you just need knowledge and research of mods and items in REI

hihi!!! i just had a really small (?) question, im having trouble figuring it out - is it possible to turn off the leaf textures? (like, how they have the extra parts sticking out) my computer has a hard time rendering all the fancy stuff but turning the leaves down to fast with it on just makes them render as blocks of colour 😭

it's my opinion that it's unreasonable to have one's entire water bar drain in 3 minutes. This also means a diamond flask is empty every 3 minutes. On top of that, sure, craft 5 diamond flasks, then teleport out every 15 minutes to recharge to go back in? Why, what's the point? Then adding a cooldown to the bamboo pumps on top of it all. Dehydration doesn't care if I have fire resistance, cooling, there's no food, potion, or enchantment that slows down this water drain. However, either way I thought I'd let the modpack creators know that we tampered with the config in our server because we felt this was a bad setup within the pack. Maybe they'd appreciate the feedback or maybe not.

it's unplayable for US without the config being modified. We're casual players who don't want to spend half our time in the nether drinking water just to not hear our character taking damage constantly. Also, we didn't assume anything was wrong, you're jumping to conclusions there. We thought that MAYBE someone would like to hear the feedback. I'm getting the impression that the feedback isn't welcome given how defensive you've been about this mod. MAYBE you should take a look at how often people ask about it and question if it is REALLY necessary to have the modpack built this way or would it work better being slightly more favorable towards a more casual style of play. Or, maybe if people set it to easy have dehydration not be in hardcore mode?
