It might be working fine for now. However a large amount of people using Essential runs into issues including world corruption, data loss and crashes. The way Essential works is hosting to Lan and Lan is very unstable. I have even talked with a person associated with the Essential mod about this.

And Essential does not lose a lot of money for server hosting because self hosting exists. Self hosting on your pc eats up less ram too so

CF isn't the malware, having it on your system isn't going to put you at any more risk than you already are. Downloading additional mods and updating packs might, but thats a problem that can extend to other launchers as well who pull from CF.

It's a crappy situation no doubt, but I think everyone (especially the modpack/mod developers) are doing everything they can to get things settled.

Run the detector, if you aren't infected and don't update / download new mods, feel free to continue playing as normal.

How can I check that I've been affected? Download the overwolf detector (https://github.com/overwolf/detection-tool/releases) and run it, it will tell you if you have any files that were created by the virus.

If this command was run in response to your question/issue, it is likely because switching away from the launcher you are currently using would fix your problem.
From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL.

To install ATLauncher, do the following:
1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download

3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATLauncher does not see your account credentials.

5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "New Instance". Click "Ok" on the opted out mods warning, then click "Open All" on the manual download screen.

8. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.

To transfer your Curseforge world to ATLauncher, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATLauncher and paste the Saves folder there.
Because ATLauncher downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATLauncher also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATLauncher installed.

If this command was run in response to your question/issue, it is likely because switching away from the launcher you are currently using would fix your problem.
From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL.

To install ATLauncher, do the following:
1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download
2. Install and run the setup, then open the program.
3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATLauncher does not see your account credentials.
4. Go to the Packs tab on the right, then click "Curseforge" on the left.
5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "New Instance". Click "Ok" on the opted out mods warning, then click "Open All" on the manual download screen.
7. Let the mods download, ATLauncher will grab them from your Downloads folder and automatically add them to the modpack.
8. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.

To transfer your Curseforge world to ATLauncher, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATLauncher and paste the Saves folder there.
Because ATLauncher downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATLauncher also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATLauncher installed.

   ii) Redirect your launcher/server to use your new installation of Java

Method i

1. Uninstall any other java program listed in your programs list (differs by OS, please find a guide for your own OS if you don't know)
2. Attempt to re-use the command mentioned above (if the output is now correct, which it should be, you are ready to go)

Method ii

1. For a server, please modify the $Java/JAVA variable (found in your startup script depending on ps1/sh) to the path of your java installation. For windows, this path is usually found in "Program Files/Eclipse Adoptium/version_of_java/bin"
2. For a client, depending on whether you use CurseForge, GD, or AT, the process is slightly different. Please see a guide for each respective launcher on how to change the java version.

It still lags, even if only 6 players are playing simultaneously and with a render distance of 7 and a simulation distance of 4. Has anybody an idea, how I can fix/optimize this?

Alright so it wasn't the entity count that was killing your performance, honestly - that CPU is not the best option.

It looks like the host went for "How many separate threads can I spread out to make more money" instead of caring about singlethreaded performance.

That CPU would be great for a lot of workloads, but not for minecraft server hosting.

TG, the only thing I can think of is that this world was made back in like V15 of the modpack and has just been carried over with each update. RE: Compat datapack chunk errors.

People generally have better experiences with Bisect, you could also consider hosting your own depending on your machine specs.

Keep in mind, modpack servers are notoriously difficult to get running smoothly with a higher player count. It took me quite a while and a lot of support from the kind folks at Luna Pixel Studios to get my public server to support the 30+ folks online at once while maintaining 18-20 TPS.

The two cores I have dedicated to the server are both overclocked to 5.0 GHZ as well...

I made a test world last night to test some stuff out with a mod and ever since then I cant back to my survival world. If you're using ATLauncher, the console log can be uploaded directly from the console. Otherwise you'll have to go into .minecraft/logs and read latest.log to see the error that's giving you that screen.

upgrading from 17 to 18 had no problems for me, but upgrading from 18 to 18.5 ruined my instance. I recommend just creating a new instance and copying the world save over. You're going to have to redo all your config files anyway because a ton of them have changed formats.

From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL.

To install ATLauncher, do the following:

3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATLauncher does not see your account credentials.

5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "New Instance". Click "Ok" on the opted out mods warning, then click "Open All" on the manual download screen.

An update to windows introduced a new security feature that prevents powershell files from running on your PC. This is great for your security, but not so great for our server start scripts, which require powershell to run them. Fortunately there is a quick fix for this!

Run powershell as administrator, then run Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned. Read the prompt and press accept. This will allow us to run scripts.

Next, navigate to your server directory using cd path/to/directory (for example: cd C:\Users\Username\Documents\Minecraft\Server)

You can now run the server by double-clicking the start.ps1 file, or typing .\start.ps1 into the command line while in the directory.

IF THE ABOVE DOES NOT WORK, TRY THIS
Run the command Unblock-File -Path .\start.ps1 in the same powershell window. This will allow the start script to not be blocked by windows, and run freely.

I followed the setup instructions exactly, but once I had to manually download the mods, I did, made sure they were in the correct folder, and it still didn't detect them no matter what I tried. I'm pretty sure the app doesn't have access to my computer's files, and it never asked for that or anything.

do you have leaf rendering set to "fast"? if so, you need to use the "fast" resource packs. Bushy leaves don't work well with it either because it removes the transparency
